It is in overall great condition however we do believe that the hardware has been replaced as well as a possible resurface and is likely a marriage upon very close inspection but works quite well. THANK YOU. Here is a stunning and very desirable approximately 150 year old antique Japanese small Choba tansu. Or merchant's chest, dating from the Meiji Era around the mid to late 1800's, featuring a lock bar in the center and classical safe compartment at the bottom right. It boasts a natural light colour with a rich honey patina, beautifully shaped hand forged iron hardware, wood peg construction and 8 drawers of various sizes that provide versatile storage options including a full width drawer at the top. It is in excellent overall condition for it's age. But has a little lock issue: as there is no key and the top drawer lock is in the closed position with the drawer open it will not shut all the way. The safe compartment has a tendency to swing open by itself since there is no key to lock it. The lock issue does NOT affect the lock bar which slides in and out of place properly. Please read the description and examine the photos for more details on the condition. Locksmiths and larger antique dealers will own sets of multiple keys to fit a broad range of locks so you should be able to get the drawer unlocked easily enough so it slides into place. With a little patience you could also find an antique key that fits right here on ebay(I can recommend a seller who regularly stocks this type of item) Other small issues worth noting are a small repair in the bottom corner of the smallest drawer just above the safe compartment. The larger top drawer is stiff to open and close due to age and needs a tweak, and one corner plate in the back is bent out of shape. Given it's age there is some wearing off of the blackening of a few small spots of the iron, and a couple of small nails are missing. Antique Wood Toy Chest Toy Box with Railway Express Agency Shipping Label
This is a neat old toy box with original red paint and prints of pirates on the lid It is 28 inches long x 16 3/4 inches wide x 9 1/2 inches tall This chest has some trim pieces missing on the lid and front middle it has 4 sections on the inside. The large section in front 27 1/2 inches x 10 inches, it appears there was a divider in the center of this section at one time The 3 sections in the back are all 6 inches deep. 2 are 10/12 inches, the other is 5 1/2 inches. There are finger holes on the sides for carrying. The chain that holds the lid from falling back is partially missing. Vintage 30s Roos Cedar Chest This is a gorgeous heirloom quality Roos Sweetheart cedar chest from the late 1930s. This Roos chest was made in Forest Park. IL. The chest is made of Claro Walnut, Striped Walnut and Black Walnut. The inside of the chest is aromatic Red Cedar. The cedar chest is still quite aromatic, it has a special sealite lid to prevent the escape of the protective cedar fumes. The chest measures 47-1/4" long, it is 23" tall and 18-1/4" deep. It has a cedar tray on the inside which is 10" deep. The cedar chest is in excellent condition, the wood is rich and it gleams. On close inspection it shows a few vintage scuffs, mainly where the back edge would rub against the wall when opened, but nothing outstanding and it shows no abuse. The inside looks like new. There is a lock on the chest but I do not have ... morea key. This chest comes from a smoke free and pet free home. It is clean and ready to use. Buyers are welcome to ask for other forms of payment. It measures 25" wide by 8 1/2" deep by 11" tall. there are some condition issues. The box needs to be refinished, there are lots of fine scratches on the top and on the front edge of the box, also there is wear the the brass plates wear the key goes in there is also a triangle brass corner plate missing from the top left back corner. The top is nice& smooth although there's 3 tiny little'pits' size of the point on a tooth pick. It looks great without any of these fixes, I am just trying to be as detailed as possible so there are no surprises when it arrives at your door. Please carefully look at pictures as they will'describe' it's condition better than my words can. The only'hardware' is drawer pulls& they look original. Everything else is wood. I don't see where any nails were used at all. As far as history on this all I can tell you is I purchased it from a gentleman that said his mother had bought this at an antique store in the mid west back in the 70's. Awesome primitive folk art miniature wooden blanket chest. Made from an old fruit crate. All components of box show traces of having been gleaned from a fruit crate the box is in excellent shape, and measures 8" long by 3 3/4" wide and 3 1/4" tall. There are three tiny nail holes visible on top of box lid one in front center, and two on right side edge, which are remnants of when piece was a packing crate please see last photo. The front of box has a beautiful scallop design and still retains faint pencil layout lines. Original to the creation of the piece. Both sides of the mini blanket chest have footed arched features which join and compliment the scalloped arched front. The interior of box is where the origin of this unique piece is hidden, the wooden interior reveals the writing, advertising of the original fruit crate ... moreof which it was made. The bottom of lid is partially labeled"produce of USA united packing company" circled(27) The interior sides read"deluxe quality" and"pack" The top of lid is a beautiful bow type top it's thick and smooth from years of use. Rare antique Roos Manufacturing wicker and wood chest
Local Pick Up Only! The"Roos Manufacturing Co. of Chicago was established in 1871 by Edward Roos(born in Germany in December 1848) Died in 1906. He had several children including Otto(born 1877) and Edward(born 1880) Otto took over the Roos Manufacturing Company when his father died in 1906. They did manufacture cedar chests, but it is unclear when they started. You're bidding on a beautiful. Original Art Deco Waterfall-style(what I call a) lingerie chest of drawers. This piece shows VERY well and should be a featured item in your decor. The lamination and parquetry are bold and visually striking. It has some minor flaws and wear, including a small chip(1/2" to the lower right of one drawer, a couple of light scratches, and a spot of minor laminate warp. I have pictured these. Drawers slide beautifully on wood side rails(under-drawer) It features lots of vertical and horizontal fluting. I am not an expert on wood, so I won't venture a guess on this piece. You tell me! All I know is, it's a beautiful piece of decorative, functional furniture. This piece has been coated with varnish or shellac or polyurethane(or something similar) which increases its glossy appearance. That does not ... moredetract from the appearance of the piece. Vintage Industrial Wood Trunk Crate Case Foot Locker Blanket Chest Toy Box
This wood crate has a nice warm finish and interesting hinges. A latch has been removed from the lid. And there are two handles, one on the end and one below where the latch was. The cabinet has an interior lining that is like corrugated cardboard. The trunk measures 31" L x 19" W x 13" T. The interior measures 28.5" L x 15.5" W x 9 3/4" T with a 1" of additional height inside the lid. This is a nice sized trunk that would work great for storing items, stood on end for a display, or as a low end table. It can be stood on end easily due to the lack of the handle on one end.
