Bought from John Wanamaker Department Store in New York. The serial number is 793314. It has a Hotel Savoia Majestic. Genova, Italy label on the left side& part of a Cunard White label on the lid. The main latch catch has: 149 New Bond St. London on the left side& 70 Champs Elysess on the right side. It measures aprox 27 3/4" L X 8 3/4" H X 17 1/4" W. The largest& newest of the three. It also has EPW handpainted on each end. The serial# is 907716. The handle has some wear. But the trunk itself has very little. You are bidding on/ buying an ANTIQUE 1920s GENUINE COWHIDE LEATHER STEAMER TRUNK. I come across quite a few suitcases. I have yet to see one in as good a shape. And as unique a design as this one. It is the size of a small suitcase. But shaped like a trunk. It measures 24 inches across the front 13 1/2 inches deep, and 10 inches tall. It has steamer style straps. Silver accent hardware, all original. It almost has a walrus or elephant texture to the hide of the material. You can see the patterning up close in photo 12. The top part of this piece expands up about 3 inches if you fill it to do so. If not it sits flat. Photos 8& 11. There are 2 straps around the case. In great condition. On the front of the case there is a lock latch, and 2 securing latches. All 3 in good order. Inside looks good. All the straps there are in great shape ... moretoo. Decorative brass corner hardware, double latch opening, black Bakelite handle, four hard plastic feet on bottom in closed horizontal position and four metal feet on bottom in closed vertical position. Exterior has some parting at the seams and shows signs of wear equal to use and age. ANTIQUE 1920's ROUND CASE LUGGAGE HAT BOX TRUNK LEATHER TRIM TRAVEL STICKERS
An antique 1920's round black case/ luggage/ hat box/ trunk with leather trim and quite a few old travel stickers. It measures approximately 20" in diameter with one flat side so it can sit up without a problem X 9 3/4" high. There are 2 small brass hinges on the lid that hold it to the base of the case and there are 2 ribbons that serve as stays when the case is opened so the lid won't flop backwards when it's opened. It would seem that the lady who owned this hat case was a woman of'means' when you look at all the places it has been. And she most likely owned several others as well as the one you see here. One of the stickers on the case indicate the woman's name was Amelia Gebhard traveled in Cabin#11 on the Norddeutscher Lloyd(North German Lloyd) shipping line from Bremen to New York on 8-24-1926. Some ... moreof the stickers are the Hotel Post Reichspost in Heidelberg. Germany- the Carlton Hotel Tivoli in Lucerne, Switzerland- and the Hotel Milan in Stresa, Italy. Nice antique cowhide leather suitcase measuring 26" X 13" X 7.5" This piece is in pretty decent shape for its age with a great patina on the leather. Perfect designer piece. And you can snap the lock in the middle shut and open it without a key(no key is included) Handle is in nice shape as well as the hinges for opening and closing. This piece shows lots of character and would make an excellent display piece for both commercial and residential settings. Made in USA: Stamford. Connecticut Measurements: 27.5" wide 16.5" length 9" deep when not expanded- expands to 11" deep This piece is missing the outer strap on the right and side and shows obvious signs of age/ wear. Again this IMO gives it such a lovely character. Floral lining is in good shape with no tears. Handle is in tact but is missing the outer cover(so it is metal only) with the remaining cover dangling on the side(again LOVE it) All hardware is in working order.
