Original Louis Vuitton Monogramed Steamer Trunk circa 1910-1920" This highly detailed Vuitton Trunk is an amazing survivor. Its extensive brass fittings(including the brass rivets) bear the"LV" stamp as does the leather trim work. The brass locking clasp is marked with"70 CHAMPS ELYSEES PARIS LOUIS VUITTON LONDON 149 NEW BOND STREET MADE IN FRANCE" The inside of the lid is marked with the number 737608 in black ink. Its condition strikes us as quite amazing. And the characteristic imprinted fabric is in splendid condition. The two leather strap handles at either end of the trunk are not in place, but one handle survives in part and is included in this auction. The largest& newest of the three. It also has EPW handpainted on each end. The serial# is 907716. The handle has some wear. But the trunk itself has very little. The inside has little or no wear at all. Looks new. I checked at the LV store in Atlanta& found the same size bag listed for over $7.800.00. Not sure of the age maybe the 70's or 80's. Very nice. Solid Louis Vuitton calfskin trunk dating from between 1909 and 1915. Excellent patina to the leather, with no major spots- just an overall golden honey aging. It was found in a well-kept old barn, and all I've done is dust it off- I'll let you condition and polish it how you see fit. The trunk is an elegant size measuring 25" wide, 11"high, and 13" deep. The brass hardware is in excellent condition. The lock inscribed'BTE S.G.D.G. PATENT, LOUIS VUITTON, 1. RUE SCRIBE PARIS, LONDON 149. NEW BOND STREET, MADE IN FRANCE' and numbered 028224. The beautiful label has the first 4 shops' addresses, dating it to post-Lille(1909) and pre-Champs-Elysees(1915) The two sides are embossed with the owner's letters"McL" ... moreThe calfskin trunks are rare because they were more expensive, and all special orders, meaning they didn't make them and have them hanging around the shop- they were custom made, so the initials were embossed on the leather before it was made, as it would be impossible after, unlike painted initials. The interior is lined with ivory linen, with fittings for one removable tray. Interior stamped with number 168673. There are overall scrapes, and chipping to the top edges, where some leather has worn away. The handle looks to be not original- my guess is the original one wore off and this one fit, so it was strapped on. This was likely a very prized trunk from the early days of the golden age of travel. Perfect for the discerning decorator. Very solid and the lid operates smoothly, and there are no problems with hardware- although I've never fully pressed in the center lock clasp for fear it would stay locked. This antique Louis Vuitton steamer trunk most likely dates to the turn of the 20th century. I would guess the early 1900s based on my research. I do have an inquiry placed with Louis Vuitton to try to determine exact purchase date and price, which they say they may be able to supply me with. This trunk has some old water damage, as shown in photos, but is in very good condition overall considering. The original insert is here and the trunk opens and closes as it should. Vintage 1940 Louis Vuitton Wardrobe Steamer Trunk
This old trunk is a beautiful example of the Louis Vuitton monogram pattern trunks made since 1896 in Paris. A real classic! This is a wardrobe style trunk that was designed to hold hanging clothes. When stood upright and opened in the center this would be like a personal closet and the clothes rod pulls out to allow easy access to the hanging clothes. This trunk has the original marked wood hangers. The exterior LV monogrammed covering is in excellent condition with only minimal signs of wear.Even the large leather handle is in good condition. This was a high-grade trunk with all brass hardware. Including many brass rivets all marked with the Louis Vuitton name. The demensions of the trunk are 36 x 22 x 12.

This Louis Vuitton Monogram Garment Luggage Bag is a true vintage and in fair condition. It has traveled the world and has been stored carefully but does show its age. It was found in a New England estate sale and has all the proper markings of Louis Vuitton. It has a very RARE stamp on wood. It was purchased from the same estate as Louis Vuitton steamer trunk and both items very appraised very high due to its origin. Age, and uniqueness. It a true collectors' treasure! All the straps are in good working order and do show signs of wear but are in good condition and appear to be strong. Time has taken a toll on the handle and top of it has come apart from the leather strap– it is still usable but the wooden laminate should be repairable. Handsome Vintage Victorian Trunk - 2 inserts - monogram - like a Louis Vuitton
This trunk belonged to the great grandfather of the father-in-law of a friend. He died in the 1920's. But during his working life, he was a railroad conductor. The family story says that when luggage was unclaimed a certain time, train employees were allowed first claim on items. This trunk had been in the family since the early 1900's. My friend sold this to me because she's moving into a very small house after the death of her husband. She pointed out that the main padlock on the front has a patent date of 1892 and there is also#30 on the padlock, however, it doesn't match the other metalwork and the trunk's date would precede this latch. The owner said she was sure that this is Louis Vuitton because, she said, her husband had it appraised and the appraiser said it was worth $1,800, and that it was definitely Louis Vuitton, ... morewhich neither she nor her husband had heard of before. The trunk.15.25x22.75x43.5" is old and shows it's wear, straps on ends are broken/missing as seen, there is no interior tray, the key is missing, the lock has a number on it(049338) the serial number to the label has faded away, the trunk is emblazoned with the owners initial at each end, all four wheels to base are intact.

Leather covered Louis Vuitton Vintage Antique Travel Trunk circa 1900's
Trunk Description: Approximate measurements: 30” wide. 15” tall, 15” deep. A travel trunk manufactured and labeled by Louis Vuitton of Paris. France, circa early 1900's. A leather covered trunk with leather corner bindings and brass latches, lock, and rivets. The trunk serial number is 181974, stamped on the inside lining next to the label as typical. The Louis Vuitton signature style label, showing the Paris and London retail addresses, is in very good condition. The trunk was made sometime between about 1910 to 1930 based on the serial number, but only the Louis Vuitton company has the records which can identify the actual age of the trunk. The brown leather covering shows typical signs of aging and wear, and there is a small piece missing on the front of the lid. The leather corner binding is in good condition with some rubbed spots. ... moreThe center leather tie-down strap is missing, but the leather strap holders are present except the one over the lock. The two side handles are missing and the rivcts for the handles holders are present. There are several partial paper travel stickers on the trunk which do not add any specific history for the trunk. The interior lift out trays are missing as well as the lower divider pieces which are removable. The lining is in fair to good condition with some small stains and small tears. The leather on the bottom of the trunk is aged and cracked, but present and the three wood slats are all marked with the name and have the original iron rollers. This trunk was advertised by Louis Vuitton as a flat top“Boot and Shoe Trunk” according to descriptions from early Louis Vuitton catalogs. Sizes of these trunks varied a little over the years. But this style and size indicate it was a Ladies Boot and Shoe Trunk. The boot and shoe trunks were made in various sizes for men and women, with several sizes to hold different numbers of pairs of shoes and boots.
