Vintage Queen Anne Style "Cavalier" Cedar Chest-Tennessee Furniture Co.
Offered is this attractive vintage Queen Anne style"Cavalier" cedar chest. Built by the Tennessee Furniture Company in Chattanooga. Tennessee. The Tennessee Furniture Company was founded in 1865 but didn't begin using the"Cavalier" trademark until 1923. I believe the company went out of business in the late 1950s-early 1960s. Making this chest at least 50 years old and possibly as much as 90 years old. The chest is 45" wide. 32" high and 19" deep. The inside dimensions of the storage area. Made from Tennessee red cedar. Are approx. 41 1/2" wide, 14 1/4" high and 16 1/2" deep. All of the front"drawers" are false. I think all of the hardware is original. The cedar interior of the piece is like new. But there are some problems with the veneered exterior: The"foot" of one ... moreof the front legs is damaged. Both ends of the fan emblem are missing. One of the very thin pieces of molding that outline the"drawers" is missing(bottom of top"drawer" The top has a good deal of scratches. Scrapes, etc. Scratch Cover has made it look better. But you might want to consider refinishing the top unless you plan to cover it with something. The front and sides are in much better shape. The original key is included. But I could not get the lock to work. Maybe you can. The lid latch works fine. However. I have this listed as"pickup only" because of what would probably be a very high shipping cost. However. Vintage Cavalier Cedar Chest (Dim 47" X 19" X 21")
You are bidding on a Vintage Cavalier Cedar Chest. The chest was pulled out of an attic where it has been stored for years. It is in need of some restoration on the outside. The inside is in excellent condition and has the name plate holder and Cavalier tag on the inside of the door. Please review and ask questions before bidding. I will deliver within 150 miles for $1.25/ mile(you will pay for round trip mileage which will need to be cash at time of delivery) example- if you live 50 miles away you will pay for 100 miles or $125.00. or you can pick up for free. Cavalier VINTAGE pedestal style cedar hope chest with drawer at the bottom
This is an awesome vintage piece of furniture. It is a Cavalier cedar hope chest. It is pedestal style and stands off the ground. It has a bottom drawer. I have never seen one like this. There is no key. On the back it has a stamp that says chest and the best I can make out the numbers one set is 513 8609. But I cannot make out the second stamped set. This is absolutely beautiful and would be great for anyone that collects antiques and vintage items. There is the original paper on the inside of the lid that tells what it is and all about the wood that was used in making the item. This item is in really good condition given its apparent age. The inside looks like brand new. The lid on the front corner does have a chip taken out of it. Other than that there is some minor scratches that comes along with the age of the piece. It has a metal frame ... moreto hold a name plate and has the original postcard to order the name plate. The item measures 40 inches long, 17 inches wide, and 29 1/2 inches tall. The chest part measueres 12 inches deep and 36 1/2 inches wide. The bottom drawer measures 6 1/4 deep and 34 1/4 wide. Due to the size of the item I am offering local pickup only. Vintage Original Mid Century Modern Cedar Hope Chest by Cavalier. 1959
Chest is in great functional condition and includes key. Cosmetically good. But there is a tar stain on the top of the chest and the chrome brackets could use some polishing. Vintage Cavalier Cedar Chest Trunk Dark Wood Tone
Cavalier- the Cadillac of Cedar Chests. The Cavalier Cedar Chests have been around for more than 70 years. These are among the best cedar chests and provide long lasting service. Produced in the 1930's by the Tennessee Furniture Company. Considering the age of this chest. The exterior and interior are in great condition. There are only several wear marks. There is a black spot on the lid(see photo) A lock is present, but I do not have a key. The two knobs shown at the bottom need tightening.
