Connecticut estate is this Rare Antique Oshkosh Travel Wardrobe Steamer Trunk Suitcase Coffee Table w/ Key.I absolutely love antique trunks and always get excited where ever and whenever I find one. Today you can go anywhere in the entire world within 24 hours by plane. Just think way back when before commercial airlines. People traveled primarily by railroad or by ship. Traveling was long, hard, and exhausting. People would literally live out of these trunks as they traveled for weeks and sometimes months on end. Thus. They were built with quality and built to last, which is why they have stood the test of time! The craftsmanship that went into the construction and design of theses ole’ trunks are truly nothing short of spectacular. I recently discovered this wardrobe trunk buried ... morein the rafters in the attic of a local farm house estate in a in nearby town. It stopped me dead in tracks and I had to literally pick my jaw up off the floor! There was no way I was leaving without this trunk. And lucky for me I had hubby to carry it out of the attic and down 3 flits of stairs! And now for the decription… This is a nice authentic period Wardrobe steamer trunk. It is signed on the exterior by the maker Oshkosh Trunk Company. I am unsure of the exact age. But it was clearly left where I had found it for a very very long time. If I had to guestimate I would say it is likely from the early 20 th century. It measures 40 x 22 x 20 inches and weighs 75 pounds respectfully. The exterior is covered with what appears to be a volcanized material with dozens of original brass. Nails, knobs Hinges, Lock and hardware. The lock comes with key and functions as designed. On the interior right side. The trunk has 5 wood drawers with original deco drawer pulls and covered in swanky antique fabric. Vintage or Antique Hartmann Tourobe Wardrobe Travel Steamer Trunk Suitcase
This is an antique or vintage Hartmann Tourobe made in Racine WI travel wardrobe trunk. Trunk measures about 35" x 20" x 12" This has been used. There are surface scratch/rub marks on the outside of the trunk, the leather handle is broken off, the closures work but there is not a key to lock them. Trunk is has markings on the end that say Lt. Comdr. Johnstone MCVS U.S.N.R. on the end and a sticker that says Gibalterized. The Hartmann Tourobe Racine Wi sticker is intact. There are travel stickers attached to the outside and a tag that says Railway Express, Inc. War Won't Wait, if that helps to date it. This outside is black with metal, and not sure what the main material is, maybe a pressed wood. The inside is blue with 3 compartments on the fold down side, 2 of the compartments have cloth ties, the top cloth part folds ... moreover and snaps at the end, snap pieces are intact. The other side has 2 wood hangers and the metal pieces that hold the hangers fold in to hold the hangers and can be folded out when the trunk is opened. There are some water marks on the cloth cover of the fold out part and a musty smell to the inside of the trunk. The red stripes on the outside of the trunk do have rub marks.

This is a wonderful walrus or seal leather antique suitcase. It is in remarkable condition for it's age! All of the hardware and leather handle etc. is there! The front hardware works. But one side is a little stiff and the closure can pop open, an easy adjustment I would think for someone who knows what they are doing. It has a beautiful antique patina. The category that I have placed in(due to lack of choices) says 1900-1950 but I believe it is pre 1900. There is some splitting and cracking of the leather on one end, exposing wood? please see pic for best description. I have not tried to fix it, the leather is very old, again I will leave that to buyers preference. The inside is a beautiful cream colored satin. Rare Antique Walrus Seal Leather Suitcase Travel Case NR!
This is a wonderful antique walrus or seal leather suitcase with original hardware and leather straps. Handle& buckles. It is in remarkable condition for it's age! Nothing is missing as far as I know. It measures aprx. 22 1/2" x 13" I would describe it as a large suitcase, please see pic with wine bottle for best reference. I listed it in this category because of lack of choices, I believe they are pre 1900. I do not see a makers mark, there is a name on the front closures hardware but I can't make it out, there is also patents pending on the front latch and I think the number 118(can't be certain about the numbers) The inside looks nice too. I do not know what the material is that the inside is lined with. It is clean, no strange or musty smells that I detect. Looks like all the original straps& buckles are ... morethere for the inside as well. There is a section that snaps in the center of the case that looks like it is for papers or maps or something to keep rather stiff, please see pics. The leather on the outside is very nice with a wonderful antique patina, I have not cleaned it, I will leave that to buyers preference. There are some white spots and wear, that now looks like a light brownish suede rather that the grain leather, again please see pic. I believe the white spots are typical of leather and can be removed with a cleaner/conditioner. I am selling it as used and as is. I am also selling separately, it's mate, a smaller square(more of a hard shell case) they are a set. This is a large heavy suitcase hence the shipping charge. You are bidding on/ buying an ANTIQUE 1920s GENUINE COWHIDE LEATHER STEAMER TRUNK. I come across quite a few suitcases. I have yet to see one in as good a shape. And as unique a design as this one. It is the size of a small suitcase. But shaped like a trunk. It measures 24 inches across the front 13 1/2 inches deep, and 10 inches tall. It has steamer style straps. Silver accent hardware, all original. It almost has a walrus or elephant texture to the hide of the material. You can see the patterning up close in photo 12. The top part of this piece expands up about 3 inches if you fill it to do so. If not it sits flat. Photos 8& 11. There are 2 straps around the case. In great condition. On the front of the case there is a lock latch, and 2 securing latches. All 3 in good order. Inside looks good. All the straps there are in great shape ... moretoo. This suitcase is made out of wood! it has leather around the outside and the inside is pink stripped paper lining. Some of the lining is torn. Not terribly so but i does have some obvious wear which i think is to be expected. Numerous scratches and marks on the outside especially on the corners. Beautiful Antique Suitcase w/ Antique travel stickers 1930's-40's
I'm not a pro. But my guess is that this beautiful suitcase is from the 1930's-40's. It's not in perfect condition, as it was found deep within my late Grandfather's garage. There was nothing in it besides a few cobwebs(which I gently removed) and a single button. The button is still in the case. I believe there quite the story behind this suitcase, hence the stickers on it, and it's age. Its got that Antique smell and perfect patina. Any questions, feel free to ask. Antique "Berkshire" Travel case (small suitcase)
This old suitcase was given to my wife 12 years ago by an 85 year old woman friend of hers. It is in"pretty decent" condition(no rips or tares) but looks old. It has the two perfume bottles. Mirror, hairbrush and comb, all in excellent condition. Approximate dimensions are 12" deep, 18" wide and 6" tall. There's also an old potpourri sack. The inside is in very good condition for the age. Very good shape overall for its age. Also has two working keys for the lock, and the leather handle is in good shape. This piece shows lots of character and would make an excellent display piece for both commercial and residential settings. Made in USA: Stamford. Connecticut Measurements: 27.5" wide 16.5" length 9" deep when not expanded- expands to 11" deep This piece is missing the outer strap on the right and side and shows obvious signs of age/ wear. Again this IMO gives it such a lovely character. Floral lining is in good shape with no tears. Handle is in tact but is missing the outer cover(so it is metal only) with the remaining cover dangling on the side(again LOVE it) All hardware is in working order.
