This trunk measures approximately 22" ... morelong X 14" wide X 15 1/2" high and it has two hinges in back that hold the lid securely to the base. There used to be sturdy leather handles on each side of the trunk but they are no longer intact, these can be purchased inexpensively on-line and they're fairly easy to replace. The corner protectors and hardware appear to be brass plated steel. There are two hasp type closures, one on each side of the lock and the lock needs to be bent just a little to close it securely. We tried the key and the locking mechanism seems to work properly but we didn't want to damage anything so it will arrive open with the key tucked in an envelope safely inside. The inside of the trunk is wood and there should be wood beneath the black material covering the outside(it is non-magnetic and we don't think it's metal) This little trunk is in very good condition and once it's restored it should be a beauty- perfect for your antique doll collection or as a gift for a very special grandchild. Stunning vintage 1870's steamer trunk. Little different to the normal ones from this era. Quite a topic of conversation with visitors this one. The large impressive chest comes metal upright banding. Horizontal hard wooden banding held with large brass studs. Replacment top clamps added these were missing. Brass lock and Hasp. Shellac with Bri Wax polish finish. Two working side catches. Large Flat Top Steamer Trunk Nice. Sturdy well made, beautifully restored Steamer Trunk. Newly refinished in a unique antiqued brown. Oak slats have been sanded and stained in a rich red mahogany and coated with polyurethane. My goal with this one is to make it look untouched, but still have a clean usable antique. The interior is newly finished as well. Stripped, sealed and covered in a deep brown felt, no old trunk smell! The handles are original. And still look very nice. It doesn't appear to have ever had wheels on the bottom. Bottom is also refinished. Note: the top has 2 cracks. This is a very nice refinished steamer trunk from around 1900 or so. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 32 1/2 inches. From floor to top is 24 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 21 inches. There are some common or typical distress marks on this trunk. These include older nicks and dings in various places along with some stress cracks. The majority of all trunks have distress marks of some nature like this one. Local pick up only.

This antique Hartman Trunk Co. Steamer Suitcase/trunk has great appeal and character. Early 1900's. Covered in leather/cowhide with a pink silk interior this piece was sold by Saks Fifth Avenue. Bronze hinges with a really neat mechanism. Over all condition is great for the age. Leather hinge on the back has torn on the left side. The original owners initials are stamped on the front and have not work. The name of the owner is still on a travel tag attached to a Holland America cruise liner tag. This beautiful French Vellum Trunk. With its incredible character and elegance, sailed on the Queen Elizabeth from New York to an unknown destination. Measuring 35" long, 20 1/2" wide, and 13 1/2" deep, the exterior has the original solid wood banding and polished chrome latches and hardware. Engraved on the lock is the word"Surete" which is french for"security" Its edges are protected with original rawhide trim secured by silver nail heads. There is a wonderful original vintage tag from the Cunard Line and an old travel decal. Circa 1920's. This French Trunk is in good condition with minimal wear from age and use. The interior has 2 working cloth straps and is clean with no issues or musty smell. The trunk has the original leather handles, but one has a split in part of the leather. A wonderful old travel trunk made in Paris by Goyard. This is the perfect size for a coffee table! Measurements are 33 1/2 inches across. 20 1/2 inches deep, 13 3/4 inches deep. The initials on the side are ACK in red lettering. The brass hardware is nicely stamped. There is no inside tray and the back has slight damage. A split line in the pattern design. The wood slats look great and both sides have the Malles Goyard address label. Inside lining has some spotting to the lower left side. Dates to the 1920's era. For your consideration is an antique steamer trunk. Dates to the late 1800 to early 1900's. There are stickers on the truck. Which I did not remove. Germany and Scotland. Has a wonderful cloth pattern on the outside similar to L. Vitton trunks. Features 4 drawers and a wardrobe area to hang cloths. The drawers lock into place and are lined, wood on the outside. The top drawer has a key lock(not included) When you pull out the drawer, there is a leaver that you turn which unlocks the other drawers. The wardrobe side includes the hangers shown(5) and the top opens to ease in getting the hangers out. the metal slats for the hangers to slide out as well, however the right one is hard to push. Has a fabric cloth to cover the clothes from the drawers. This is a large heavy truck, but in pretty good shape for it's age and the number of trips ... moreit has taken over the years. With offices and salesrooms at No. 22 Sutter Street. Its factory was located at Twentieth and Florida streets in San Francisco and covers an area of eleven thousand square feet. This 1920's Steamer Trunk is in excellent condition. It has all interior drawers and hangers. It is missing one small bar for the wooden hangers. And it does not come with a key. I know absolutely nothing about restoring a this gorgeous piece. I wish I did. I cannot answer much about it except the physical aspects. I was told by the individual that I got it from that it is from the 1800s. From my minimal research. That seems to be accurate and consistent. It comes with 5 hangers- only one is original- the others were made afterward- when and how old the others are. I don't know, but can tell you 4 of the 5 are not original. Up for consideration is a nice size Stagecoach antique trunk that has been restored. It has been cleaned well inside and out. The wood has been lightly sanded then sealed with a satin finish. It os all original exccept for the handles were replaced with new leather ones. The inside was recovered so no musty smells. It does have some minor dings and stress cracks. But this only adds to the characture of this 150 year old trunk. It would be Great for a blanket chest. The measurements are; 30" long x 17" wide x 18" tall. As expected for an all original Tourobe of its age there is also some scuffing on the exterior. Inside still looks great and has the original hangers. Authentic, Vintage LOUIS VUITTON Steamer Trunk Hard Sided Luggage Circa 1910
Original Louis Vuitton Monogramed Steamer Trunk circa 1910-1920" This highly detailed Vuitton Trunk is an amazing survivor. Its extensive brass fittings(including the brass rivets) bear the"LV" stamp as does the leather trim work. The brass locking clasp is marked with"70 CHAMPS ELYSEES PARIS LOUIS VUITTON LONDON 149 NEW BOND STREET MADE IN FRANCE" The inside of the lid is marked with the number 737608 in black ink. Its condition strikes us as quite amazing. And the characteristic imprinted fabric is in splendid condition. The two leather strap handles at either end of the trunk are not in place, but one handle survives in part and is included in this auction. The interior tray is missing, although the handsome monogramed fabric covered interior of the top is in beautiful shape. Labels and ID number are intact and ... moreappear where they should be. The tip of the encircling leather strap is missing several inches at the connecting end though the receiving end is intact. There is no key but these are easily purchased. This is a numbered leather rounded top steamer trunk circa 1854 to 1867. The company started in 1854 and in 1867 changed the look to canvas and the top to a flat surface for better stacking. This trunk has a little recent damage to one outside corner from my daughters cats scratching but I think that can be smoothed out with the right tool. The trunk is over 100 years old so the outside is worn but it is in good condition in spite of the scratches. The inside is in beautiful condition with a wonderfully intack. Clean tray and 3 compartments below the tray with the ties still there to hold your clothes down? The outside leather handles are still there and in good condition. I never allowed anyone to move the trunk by using these handles. I also have a key to the trunk. There are, it seems to me, old European hotel sticker marks on the outside. ... moreI actually have some of these old, beautifully colored stickers from the 1950's or earlier that I would sell separtley. This piece of luggage is a real collectable Louis Vuitton and in better condition than any I have seen sold at other sales. Up for sale is this beautiful antique dome top steamer trunk with ornate embossed metal and a working key. It measures 32" long by 18" wide and 21" tall. The exterior of this trunk was cleaned. The wood slats sanded, stained with minwax"golden oak" then the entire trunk was sealed with spar urethane. The interior lining was removed then the wood was sanded and stained with minwax"golden oak" as well. This trunk shows some wear from age and has some minor flaws i.e. one of the hinges is broke(does not effect the stability, very functional) overall the trunk is in very good condition. It is signed on the exterior by the maker Oshkosh Trunk Company. I am unsure of the exact age. But it was clearly left where I had found it for a very very long time. If I had to guestimate I would say it is likely from the early 20 th century. It measures 40 x 22 x 20 inches and weighs 75 pounds respectfully. Antique Black Steamer Travel Trunk Leather Handles on Each End Front Latch NEAT!
This auction is for a vintage steamer trunk. I think this is the right wording for them. This is black, hinged lid, leather strap handles on each end. Two clasp closures on the front, the main lock is missing the bottom as you can see in the photos. The inside is papered. This is worn and discolored, it is the original. There is a wooden bar on each side where the shelf would sit, but is no longer with the trunk. Measures right at 36" wide, 21.5" deep and 24" tall. It has weight to it! Due to the size and weight it will be available for pick up only. This is a nice piece of history. Coming from a smoke free home. Good luck and happy bidding!

Antique Victorian Restored MONITOR or WATERFALL Style Steamer Trunk 19th Century
Beautiful Victorian Era Steamer Trunk. This trunk has been conserved or restored. Has had quite a bit of work, but the only thing that has been added& isn't original to this trunk are the leather handles. Everthing else is original to this particular trunk The trunk had 3 coats of paint that were removed from its exterior. Afterward it is was polished witha metal polish, there is still some patina, after 100 plus years it is almost impossible to remove all of that with just cloth and polish lol The paint was light green and off white. In certain places small remnants of the paint may remain. Without damaging the surface of the trunk it is very hard to totally get it all off. Also I think it adds to the already very rustic beautiful charm of the trunk. It is important to note the color variations you see in the pics on the metal ARE ... moreNOT paint. This is actually a pattern in the metal. One the end pieces I think it is patina and discoloration. But the middle piece on lower portion, and next to end pieces on top, I think it is the way the metal is made. It is very beautiful, and seems purposefully placed There is very gorgeous and unique hardware. There are little flower or star shaped medallions on top of trunk and on the front of trunk The wooden slats have been sanded stained and finished The handles were replaced with strips of 100% leather Interior of trunk was stripped of all inside paper. It has been left natural wood so new owner may leave as is. Or finish out to suit their needs best. One of the most unique things about this trunk is the locks on either end of trunk. And latch in center Normally one most I have seen. There will a latch on both ends, and a lock in center, this one is reversed! Large size 36 x 21 inches and 24 inches tall Great size for a coffee table. Tv stand, statement piece for any room, or as blanket chest or for storage very sturdy.
