Except for the handles, trunk actually had the handles when I got it, but they were dry rotted, and became even more damaged in the process of conserving. so I did replace them, now they are great Also replaced was the bottom of the tray. The original bottom was coming loose from tray, and was cracked, so to make this trunk as fully functional as possible I thought it best to do it right! The inside of the trunk has been stripped clear of the inside paper. This is great b/c it gets rid of all old smells many old trunks hold it also makes the trunk free of many allergens the trunk has been left natural. Measuring 30ins(76cms) wide x 17ins(43cms) deep x 10.5ins(27cms) high, it is a traditional steamer type trunk having protective bands on the edges and corners and twin catches at the front with a central lock and clasp and a leather carrying handle. It is finished in a blue colour with an attractive patina to it. The catches work well but there is no key for the central lock. I nternally it has the original lining material and a lift out shirt tray. It is in good general condition but has a few signs of use as one might imagine. With scuffs, nicks, scratches and so on and one corner has had a thump at some point in the past. Large Vintage Trunk - C.1920's Ideal Stage Prop. Interior Design. Coffee Table
For Sale I have this fantastic Vintage Travel Chest measuring 20.5 inches across. 16.5 inches wide, and 15 inches deep, and made by the Flaxite Foundation circa. 1920, so British Made, and probably tied in with the Papworth Industries who I think made them, and another suitcase I listed earlier. This is a great rectangular box shape. Very sturdy and solid, internally and externally lined with flax, with thick leather corner protectors& an incredibly solid leather handle. The outer covering is a lovely well worn brown colour, with solid bronzed clasps that work perfectly, but are sadly without keys. Internally is a clear cream check. This is a very well used packing case. And shows masses of wear and character. It has"U. S. in large black letters on two sides, and would look ideal on a western stagecoach, or paddle steamer.

Back and both sides and what looks like plywood for the lid and base. I nternally it has a long thin and angled. Removalable tray to the front and a stout metal stay at eother side. For your consideration is this wonderful vintage cargo trunk in excellent condition. This chest appears to have been hardly used. As it is clean. With only a few scrapes to the hardware on the outside. There is a four inch deep, lift out tray inside with two cutout handles on the end, and two tie down straps to keep your garments or cargo in place during transit. As you can see in the pictures. The inside is a green color, and also notice the clean condition with no spots, stains, holes, or dis-coloration. The outside is ruggedly built with quality hardware, oak runners top and bottom, a metal band around the outside, corner protection, and on each end is a square holder for perhaps a label, or owners information, On the front is a lock, with no key, and a sturdy, thick, brown leather handle strap. Awesome vintage find. Beautiful old trunk that can be used as is it for restoration. In its current condition could be a great coffee table. Has a tray an one new hinge so that the top works and the latches close properly also. Handles are missing, and as stated can be replaced but I love the character as is. Shows wear from age but is in good condition, brass parts have a nice patina but again are in sturdy shape. It is 36 wide, 21 deep and 23 tall. Antique Hartman steamer trunk w/ original lock and key, coffee table, vintage
For your consideration a beautiful antique steamer trunk from the turn of the century manufactured by Hartman of Racine Wisconsin. This trunk features its original locka with original key both function flawlessly. The trunk retains all of it original hinges buckles and both leather handles which are all in excellent condition. The trunk also retains the original Hartmann and Gibrlatorized logos which are also in excellent vintage condition and can be read easily. The inside of this trunk is in as nice of shape as the outside showing one small tear in the material on the top side of the trunk. Easy fix. The inside is lined in a silk type of material. The trunk is missing the inside shelf to divide it top to bottom. The exterior condition shows very minor scuffs, no dents it has a couple of paint dots on it here and there very non distracting ... moreand it adds character to the piece. This would work perfectly as a coffee table or storage at the end of the bed for blankets and pillows. This is truelly a fantastic conversation piece and is in excellent vintage condition. You don't often find them pretty well intact with the original key and lock. There are no pry marks across the top edge either as it has its original key. The measures ments of the trunk are 36 inches side to side, 23 inches deep and 25 inches top to bottom. No reserve auction, high bidder wins! I will ship this trunk via Greyhound package express to the closest Greyhound terminal of the winning bidder where it will have to be picked up. They will hold the piece for two days for free. This Huge Vintage truck measures 40"x23"x 25" and has a dark military green finish. The base is made from metal and the sides are wood wrapped in leather. I have seen these used as storage trunks as well as coffee tables in the past. It could also double as a Cedar chest or window seat. The outside has that natural distressed look that is sought after these days. The hinges and latches all work and the key and lock mechanism has been removed previously. There are several pieces of stickers on the trunk and one from the Black Ball Freight Service with the phone number"BREMERTON 300" dates the sticker to the days before we dialed phone numbers directly. I would guess the trunk dates to around the turn of the century. It's made out of wood with metal brackets and rivets. Black laminate on the outside. Blue and white paper covering the inside. Measures 30 1/2" long by 18 wide by 19 1/4" tall on the outside. Inside dimensions are 29 1/2" long by 16 1/2" wide by 14 1/2" tall. The lid is 3 3/4" tall on the inside. It weighs 26 pounds. I love this trunk! There are a few on line for sale in the UK and on 1 st Dibs but you don't see these available for sale very often on eBay. It is currently being used as a coffee table and is packed full of the owners photographs so it makes very useful storage too. I have done some research and it looks as though it may have been made back in England late 40's early 50's. The interior has a faded red fabric lining and a top tray also lined in the same fabric. I looked behind the lining and the trunk is thin wood under the aluminum. It measures 40" long by 20" deep by 21" tall. Leather handles on both sides. One is a little dry. The center latch won't stay up on its own and there isn't a lock. The 2 side latches work. It is covered in scratches on the top and has a water stain. Steamer trunk This is a great looking trunk that would make an ideal coffee table. Internally it is very clean and doesn't have the slightest smell of must. Externally It is in great condition except for a paint run to the front, you can see it in most of the pictures. I think it could be removed with thinners or similar as the finish on the trunk is like a sort of vinyl or similar material but I thought I'd leave that to the buyer. Which was used to make aircrafts. Due to the end of the war, the production of aircraft stopped, leaving a large supply of metal. Items such as desks, medical furniture, and luggage were put into production. These were produced in Great Britain, USA, Europe, etc. This particular case in marked'Made In Germany' It comes complete with its original brown leather handles and spot rivets(the ... moresame used to hold the panels together on fighter planes) As you will see in the images it does have a few knocks which are to be expected for item of this age. Where it has been stored in a garage for many years the cloth lining has become loose and musky so would recommend that this is changed. Which is a simple enough task. On the base and back it does have a couple of splits in the aluminium as in images 10, 11 and 14. Other than that it in good solid condition and will make a great addition to your home or business. It is constructed with thick sec tioned plywood. Has an old brass handle at either end, two rusty but solid hinges to the rear and is finished in Farrow& Ball, No3, Off White' Estate Emulsion. Internally it is plain and has been coarsely painted in a pale grey. The base has had a hardboard sheet added to it for neatness. There are.Of course, a myriad of very characteful nicks, dinks. SUBLIME VINTAGE SHABBY CHIC BLUE/BLACK CHEST/COFFEE TABLE/ TRAVEL TRUNK/STEAMER This auction is for a really lovely shabby chic. Blue coloured, Mossman style, travel trunk/ chest/ coffee table. Measuring approx 36ins(94cms) x 17ins(43cms) deep x 18ins(46cms) it is a traditional steamer type trunk having protective studded bands on the edges, with metal corner protectors, twin locks at the front with a central clasp. There is a leather carrying handle at either end. It is finished in a blue/black colour with an attractive patina to it. The catches work well but are a little stiff and there is no key for the locks. I nternally it has the original lchequered lining material. It is in good general condition but has a few signs of use as one might imagine. With scuffs, nicks, scratches and so on and there is a tear to the top and another smaller ... moreone, but nothing detracting and all very characterful! The lining is clean and dry with two very obvious ancient ink stains. please see photos) This is a beautiful old travelling chest which stands with real presence- the perfect combined storage chest and coffee table! This is an Anchor Trunk made by the Friedberg- Grunauer Co. and looks to be from the 1930s to 1950s. The trunk shows various marks/scuffs etc due to age. Trunk is in good condition structurally. The metal shows quite a bit of rust but latches seem to work fine. There are minor dings and scratches but is in good shape for the age. The trunk is also missing the brass piece along the bottom on the left shorter side. This can be noted in new picture added. This missing piece could be replaced and doesn't change the starting price of the trunk. Leave the trunk as is for a true vintage piece or restore it to it's previous luster.
