This is a wonderful silver flatware storage chest from the early 1940's. The lady said she was married in 1941 and received it as a wedding gift. It has a wonderful picture on the inside of the lid. It is a cardboard material and shows wear all around the edges. One hinge is loose as show in picture. The inside is in good condition. The felt is in good condition and is a nice Royal Blue color. The inside picture shows two women in very fine gowns looking at knights outside their window. It reads Tudor Plate By the Makers of Community Plate. The box measures 12" by 10 1/2" by 2" wide. Vintage Storage Trunk Chest Wood Brass Hardware Japanese Locks Toys Mementos SB Location: SR003 Floor. Materials: Wood. Brass Measurement: 39 1/2" Wide x 19 1/2" Deep x 21" Tall Condition: Very Good Vintage Attributes: This is a 1940's era storage or steamer trunk. It is crafted in wood. Painted navy blue on the outside. It features wrap around decorative brass hardware on the top and bottom edges of the trunk itself and on the four corners of the top, please refer to photos for detail. There are two wide decorative brass bands running up the front of the trunk and the lid, across the top of the lid, and down the back of the trunk, all held in place with tiny brass nails. The lid is hinged in the back, all hardware is brass. The front lid features two brass tabs which fold down onto the locking pins. Going through the locking ... morepins are a pair of Japanese locks, very rare nowadays, but popular on storage trunks in the 1920's and 30's. The locks themselves are solid brass, a collector's item in themselves- we have chosen to offer them with the trunk, as they came to us at auction with the trunk. The key is included, will be in a separate envelope on the outside of the trunk. There are two side handles mounted on brass circles, please see photo. The inside is roomy, unpainted wood, no tray, in very good shape. This would make a wonderful storage chest for quilts and blankets, kept at the foot of a bed. It would also make a great storage piece in a living room or den in front of the sofa. It would hold all those throws and afghans we love to cuddle up to on movie night, and also act as a unique, casual coffee table. STUNNING ANTIQUE 1926 ROOS CEDAR HOPE CHEST! The Ed Roos Company. Based in Forest Park, IL, was in business from 1916-1951 and made chests in popular styles from Edwardian to Art Deco. Featuring double locks and two levels. This beautiful Hope Chest is multi-functional and a great collectors piece! The first shelf has four felt compartments including one large area that you can strap down a blanket or anything really! The largest compartment under the first shelf is lined with thick paper with holes. This method is used to protect both the cedar and any items stored. Articles and cloths along with other items can stick to the cedar and possibly ruin both. The lining helps the cedar breath. And keeps items from attaching to the wood. The entire Chest has wood inlay around the body. And lovely carved embellishment around the edges. The picture ... moreshows a felt pad preventing the chest to close completely due to the lock periodically sticking. It can be opened. Just difficult sometimes. This is a fixable mechanical issue. For your consideration is this wonderful vintage cargo trunk in excellent condition. This chest appears to have been hardly used. As it is clean. With only a few scrapes to the hardware on the outside. There is a four inch deep, lift out tray inside with two cutout handles on the end, and two tie down straps to keep your garments or cargo in place during transit. As you can see in the pictures. The inside is a green color, and also notice the clean condition with no spots, stains, holes, or dis-coloration. The outside is ruggedly built with quality hardware, oak runners top and bottom, a metal band around the outside, corner protection, and on each end is a square holder for perhaps a label, or owners information, On the front is a lock, with no key, and a sturdy, thick, brown leather handle strap. The wide steel handles on the ends are spring-loaded ... moreto keep them in place and protect them in transit. The only marks on this trunk are seen on the inside of the lid. I have not been able to find anymore from that name. This well made quality piece of luggage could have many uses, such as, cargo trunk, coffee table, blanket box, storage, etc. Dimensions are 11 in. x 15 in. x 29 inches long. Weight 28 lbs.

Here we have an incredible hunter green wardrobe trunk made by the Dread-Naught Luggage Company of Petersberg. Virginia around the 1930's. The interior has been completely recovered in a stunning ivory/ cream satin fabric. It has a locking mechanism for the drawers in addition to the exterior lock and the keys are included for both. The exterior has the wear and tear you would expect for its age and the leather handle is worn and torn as well, all of which add to its antique character. The top latch is off, but we have it; someone who is handy could probably easily re-attach it. The lower latch and lock keep it securely closed without it. It measures 42" high, 21 1/2" deep and 22 1/2" wide(10 1/2" for the hanging side and 12"for the drawer side) It would be great for storage, coffee table and/or addition to a ... moresteampunk décor. I have up for sale a very nice vintage original circa 1920s- 40s Cedar Chest. The chest is in very clean original condition! It measures approx 45-1/4" long. 20" deep, approx 19-1/2" tall which includes the 1" castor height. The chest is in Excellent Condition- nice clean original finish- strong& sturdy- has a flat top which would be strong enough to sit on- that is unless you are over 300 lbs then I would not advise it. Some normal light age wear as one would expect. The only damage to note is a fairly inconspicuous chip/ slivered off piece- located on the front lower right. Shown up close in pics 10& 12. This is not something that is very noticeable at all, the sliver was done many years back and it has been stained over and the only way you will notice it, is if you look upclose with scrutiny. Here is a vintage steamer trunk. Measures 39" long. 20" wide, 21" tall. Does not have a key. All parts are attached as shown in photo. Belonged to my grandmother who came to this country from Austria in 1910 so this trunk is at least 104 years old. Needs some restoration as shown in photos. Blue sides is some type of cloth material over wood. the bottom panel is metal as shown in photo. Hinges came loose and need to be attached. The wood shelf insert is cracked, but repairable. This Huge Vintage truck measures 40"x23"x 25" and has a dark military green finish. The base is made from metal and the sides are wood wrapped in leather. I have seen these used as storage trunks as well as coffee tables in the past. It could also double as a Cedar chest or window seat. The outside has that natural distressed look that is sought after these days. The hinges and latches all work and the key and lock mechanism has been removed previously. There are several pieces of stickers on the trunk and one from the Black Ball Freight Service with the phone number"BREMERTON 300" dates the sticker to the days before we dialed phone numbers directly. I would guess the trunk dates to around the turn of the century. It's made out of wood with metal brackets and rivets. Black laminate on the outside. Blue and white paper covering the inside. Measures 30 1/2" long by 18 wide by 19 1/4" tall on the outside. Inside dimensions are 29 1/2" long by 16 1/2" wide by 14 1/2" tall. The lid is 3 3/4" tall on the inside. It weighs 26 pounds.
