1940's US Navy Harvard Lock Company Motor Boat Ship Bell w/ Clapper, 9x9x9"
For your consideration is a unique. Vintage US Navy-marked iron ship's bell forged by Harvard Lock and still. in excellent condition. This bell was procured from the original owner, still wrapped in mid 1940's newsprint. As a 40's bell, it was built to a wartime standard out of iron, not brass, and coated gold. I'm not a maritime expert, but the bell conforms to the size and weight of the specifications set by the included 1918 diagram for Naval Motorboat bells. This bell is in wonderful collector's shape with no cracks, damage, or significant wear! The clapper and top mounting bolt are included. Both in excellent condition. You are buying two very nice ship's oil lamps(matching pair) Beehive tanks made from pot metal. The tanks lock into the brackets.Two part wall brackets made of cast iron. With lock downs. Marked with embossed numbers on brackets. Lamps measure 7 inches tall and 6 inches in diameter. Projectioin is 8 1/2 inches from wall. Appears to be coated with brass paint. We would think this is the original finish. These show their age. Burners are marked Eagle and have a fair amount of surface rust. No wicks. Both tanks' caps are on and lamps are complete. This is an all original. Not reproduction, not cleaned, Harvard Lock Company Navy ship bell. Has the raised letter USN and Harvard Lock Company on bell. Not sure which ship this bell is from. Bell measures a base diameter of 9 1/2" and a height of 10 1/2" with the bolt, and the knocker is nearly 8" long and has a ring on it for tying the rope to. Bell is made of iron and weighs around 20 pounds. and it is very loud! This bell came from a estate of the WWII vet and this was off of his ship. They do not know the name of the ship He was on( very sad) But I hope that it will end up in a family that will that will treasure it!
