It measures 12" x 7.5" It also has an original hanging ring to the rear if you wish to the utilise it as a hanging wall mirror. For it's size. It is quite heavy ~ weighing 1.5kgs The frame has beautiful Champleve enamel decoration on a French blue ground. And is finished with elaborate ribboned floral decoration to the top and bottom. It's a large side oval mirror with a French ribbon swag and urn at the top. Ideal size for over a buffet. Sofa or dresser. It's ... morenot too fancy but not plain and it's a classic style that will lend it to so many different types of decor. It's not perfect. As you typically see with these old pieces, you are going to find cracks. Doesn't appear to be breaks but cracks and there is an area on the right side of the mirror where there are some marks under the glass. I tried so hard to get them to come thorugh but it's so difficult to show them. If you need to see more photos, please feel free to write. The mirror is pretty clear except for one small area where the marks are. I noted a bit of ghosting but nothing major. It's got that perfectly aged look. Perfectly shabby. Mauves, yellow, blue, and green, an off antique white lace like b ackground. Pink edging on inside of frame, the frame itself is a greenish color, and a glass mirror insert. The flowers appear that they might of originally been some type of silk arrangement that has a clear coating over it to make them stiff and also has a green vel vet ribbon accent. Back of the frame has two(2) metal rings and wire for easy hanging on a wall or door. Measures overall 12 1/2"in. wide. 1 4 1/2"in. tall. And 3"in. deep. Description This handsome antique cast iron frame stands 10 1/2" tall and is 10 3/4" wide. It has a folding stand on the back which allows it to stand freely. The design of the frame is unique and features a French motif. All around the piece are fleur-de-lis. The top has plumes and a helmet. And the feet have griffin like creatures holding shields with a fleur-de-lis. The frame has a mirror; it is not original to the frame but looks good. It could also hold an oval picture 8" long, 6" wide. The frame is in very ice condition with no breaks. No repairs and no losses. The back stand is original and in fine condition. This mirror measures a total height to the top of the carvings of 42 inches. Total width of 50 inches and weighs approximately 35 lbs. The pattern is done in dark brown with gold highlights and veining under glass. The frame is simple and elegant. Very Parisian. It is solid wood which is painted in white with a very soft French blue or teal on the raised areas of the wooden frame. Each corner piece is a carved floral accent which is painted in gold. Superb and Most Unusual 19th Century French Wall Hanging Frame in Hand Mirror Shape with Classical Motifs. Putti, etc. This is an unusual item of high quality. The frame is of metal- possibly brass. This has at one time been silver plated but this has since been worn from the front- the reverse shows that the item was once plated. Definitely a wall hanging frame rather than a hand mirror, the ornate front has classical motifs whilst the reverse is flat and has a hanging ring. I would date it to Ca. 1870 and believe it is probably French in origin- but I may be mistaken. The item has a height of approx 30.6 cm. It is in good used condition with wear to the plating as can be seen below. The glass is missing. There is no restoration. Please study the close up pictures below for full details. Offering a magnificent and rare antique wall mirror. I think this style is called tabernacle: it's beautifully molded with old gilded embellishments and gilding throughout. The central piece is actually an oil on canvas and may predate the mirror by a large amount of time. It's a pastoral scene. Mountains, trees, a small manse with a tower and cows in the field. Quite a lovely painting with some warping, craquelure and a small chip(see photos) The front is painted an old creamy yellow(more ivory) The mirror looks original and remains in fine shape. The back isn't so pretty but is stable and has the benefit of a bit of beautiful deco paper remaining as a backing. Simple wire hanger. The black area on the front edge of the wall pocket is black glaze. Look closely at the bottom of the mirror frame to see the tiny gold cast chip. I am not sure but it appears the mirror has been replaced at some time. Measures 24” L x 13 ½” W x 1 ¼” D. The wall pocket protrudes out 3 ½” from the back to front.
