Estate Find- Here is an original old shaving mirror. It mearsures 14.25" across by 18.5" high. It is made of wood with ornate carvings at the top center and bottom corners. It also has an all wood backing with an old wire hanger. Due to age the mirror has black markings. Streaks and a couple of defects in the glass but no cracks or chips. This gives it character and shows its age. The frame has some paint loss but overall it is solid. It makes for a nice primitive piece that is totally original with no restorations or touch ups. I finally decided to part with my great aunt's antique heavy ornate wall mirror. Antique Gold Leaf Wood& Gesso Wall Mirror. This mirror is just gorgeous and has been well maintained. The glass is in good condition.no chips. No cracks, no hairlines etc. The mirror needs to be cleaned. I have limited space, and that's why I'm selling it. There is a small water damage on one corner at the top right but when it's hanging the wall- no one can't tell. One corner of the mirror the same top right- a portion of wood approximately 1/2" x 1/2" wood came off. My mom. It measures 16 1/4" x 22 3/4" It has a pretty art nouveau design. There is a sturdy w ire on the back for hanging. The frame might have been repainted at some time. I can't say for sure. Antique 1870s BLACK FOREST Relief Carved Eagle Top Wood Frame OAK WALL MIRROR
I have up for sale a rare and beautiful vintage circa 1860s- 1880s Black Forest hand carved Hanging Wall Mirror. I believe that the frame is made of Oak- its relief carved with a bird. Possibly an Eagle on top. The bird has a glass eye and the talons are fixed on to a log. It measures approx 26-1/2" measured from the tip of the wing to the bottom of the vertical section of the frame,its approx 17-1/4" wide. The bird itself protrudes outward just over 4" The glass mirror itself measures approx 16-1/4" x 9" The frame is in very nice estate fresh as found condition. I am quite sure that the finish is the old original. Regardless it looks wonderful. It has a nice warm patina and recessed areas have darker coloration. Overall the frame is in Great Condition- other than some wear/small chip to the end tip of the birds beak ... morethe wood is in fantastic shape. Wear is light, the frame was well taken care of. The glass mirror is excellent- no silvering issues- no damages. I see that the bird is attached with 2 screws in the back. When I package it. I will take if off and package it separately. Original condition with some gilt missing from the corvetto balls that dot the surround. Features an ebonized reeded slip at the rim of the convex mirror. There is a little black paint missing there also. The mirror has a couple of age spots but no major damage or fogging. The original metal link chain graces the reverse. There is an egg and dart motif on the four corners. A couple of the balls are a little loose but would only be noticed upon super close inspection. Victorian Antique Wall Mirror- long, hanging, silverbacked. Wood & plaster. P/U
Beautiful antique wall mirror. Most likely Victorian though I wouldn't really date this as much older than the early turn of the century. It's about 54" wide and 19" tall from the highest point of the decoration in the center. It has 3 mirrored panes and it looks to be silverbacked. There is very faint tarnishing taking place underneath which you can see. But I think it adds to the patina. Looks great. There's also a very small mark on the glass in the middle pane near the edge, not very noticeable. It's made of wood with an ornate plaster front and top decoration of a shell. The left bottom corner has a small chip in the plaster. This mirror is in great shape for its age. It's very heavy and has a wire string in the back for hanging. It has an area on the bottom right that needs repairing where the seem has come away(see pictures) also will need the glass replaced, it was my Step Fathers who is 80 he got it from his mom, he said it is from the 1920-1930's. Very Large 32 1/2" Federalist Eagle Gold Convex Wall Mirror, Wood Frame Very Old
This mirror is in excellent condition. The glass is as close to mint as you can get. No fog, no scratches, no spots, no loss of reflective material. You can see where the mirror has been cleaned over the years. The frame is a wood frame mirror: 32.5" in height, 23 3/8" wide, and the convex mirror is 17 inches. The frame has just a tiny bit of age checking that you have to almost have your nose to the glass to see. There are some slight discoloration with the gold that would be typical of age. I have tried to show that in the photos. There is no loss of gold paint. But it looks to have had some retouches done over the years. I have no idea as to its age, but it looks to be old. It can be hung either vertical or horizontally. At the moment it is set up to be hung vertical. It measures 26 inches tall and 15 inches wide and weighs 14 lbs. It has one tiny chip no cracks or breaks. It does have a few surface scratches. It has some slight discoloration under the bevel on the top center of the mirror. While it is not perfect it is still nice and you should expect an older mirror to have some issues. I've tried to take a number of pictures so that you can judge for yourself it's age and value. this is a stunning vintage hand carved wooden convex wall mirror. it is a very large mirror and has a wonderful gold gilt finish. the mirror is circular and has a convex domed shape. the top is a large very ornate eagle with wings spread. He stands on the mirror with a long olive leaf in hand. the mirror has many dimensional spheres running around the whole border of the frame. the bottom also has very dimensional ornate detailing with a stylized floral design. the frame measures 30 3/4 by 22 1/2 inches. already has a hanging wire on the back ready for mounting. it is in great shape and no pieces missing. the actual convex mirror is fading a bit but still does work as a mirror. Antique (19th C?) Wall Mirror w/Intricate Hand-Carved Artisan Figural Wood Frame
My grandparents bought this mirror& frame while antiquing in the Northeast US in the 1940's or 1950's. I would estimate that it's 19th Century. And I recall some talk of it being from a hotel or tavern that was closing down. Carved animal figures at top give an almost rustic look to it. But it has a kind of elegance(the carved'twist' side border and floral center at the top) that make it hard to pin down stylistically. Seems to be one-of-a-kind. As I see nothing like it at all in any Ebay listing, current or completed. Measures 43" high by about 25"at widest point. Dark wood could possibly be a stained cherry. But I'm not sure. The 15" X 27 1/2" beveled-edge mirror itself shows some age. And has a couple of spots that suggest it could me re-silvered or replaced, but there's no damage of ... moreany kind to the frame. Mid-Century Wall Mirror with Ornate Wood Frame. I'm not sure if this is Danish or not- my grandparents were Danish and had a lot of Danish items. The design is very elaborate on the top and sides of the frame. However, as stated in the condition description, the top part of the frame has several breaks and chips in it. If the mirror was replaced and the frame was restored this could be a nice item. I saw one similar go for a lot of money. But it needs some work. The frame from the end of the wood to the end of the wood measures approximately 32" by 23 3/4. The mirror area measures approximately 29 3/4" by 17 1/2.
