19th Century Asian Tested 900 “Silver” Framed Small/Elaborate Mirror, Unmarked
This 19th century unmarked“silver” on wood framed/backed mirror appears to be Asian. But I cannot tell if the figures are Chinese or Korean, or? The chamfered back of this 5 5/8” by 8 ½” by 5/16” mirror could be Islamic in origin as there are no human figures shown, just detailed flowers& exotic birds within a frame of 3 friezes of diagonal lines, leaves& scrolls, repeated circles or orbs. The sides of the mirror have the frieze of leaves& scrolls repeated. There is some loss to the“silver” on the upper left corner& lower edge on the front of the mirror. The front of the mirror cannot have been made in any Islamic culture because it depicts human beings. The many scenes or vignettes of people frame the center mirror which is tarnished& worn, even spotted. The mirror itself is edged with small scallops plus an elaborate ... morescrolled pattern in both upper corners. Cobalt enamel or paint backs 6 of the scenes plus the scrolled patterns at the top of the mirror. Detailed men, women, even one child are shown in each of the scenes engaged in activities such as holding a child, conversing, playing instruments, relaxing, even reading. Near the middle of each side is a section with stylized flowers. The outer frame of this side is wider than on the back& features a running frieze of flowers, scrolled vines& leaves. There is a small applied“silver” hook on the upper back for hanging. The flowers appear that they might of originally been some type of silk arrangement that has a clear coating over it to make them stiff and also has a green vel vet ribbon accent. Antique embossed tin framed mirror with a slightly brassy coloration. It's in really nice condition. I don't see any damage. It measures 23 1/2" x 13 1/2" with a central mirror that measures 7 1/2" x 9 1/2" The beveled mirror& side panel mirrors show quite a few age spots& streaks. You can see on the backside how the top panel brace has been glued into place. It looks like it had been screwed in at one point as well. The panel on back is loosely held in by nails. You are looking at a uniquely shaped antique gilded wood framed mirror. This mirror measures about 8.5" x 15" It is by no means in new condition. The frame is warped and had cracked long ago. It has old staples on the back(both left& right side of the frame) keeping the frame intact(see photos) The remainder of the wood frame seems to be in pretty good shape. The mirror has a lot of scuffs and scratches. The old paper on the back is all but gone and the cardboard on the back looks moldy. Even with all those flaws. It's still a very unique antique mirror.

Vintage Vanity Set This is how I found this lovely set displayed on a dressing table at an estate sale. The framed mirror with children pictured is near perfect. The mirror tray with the Victorian Lady has some wear and a little loss to the silvering on the mirror. There is light discoloration, the picture of the lady is very good. Dispite age and wear this is nice. I think the aging it gives it character. I am guessing this to be from the 1930's or 40's? The tools are metal with minor wear to the goldtone. The tools are a shoe horn, tweezers,file and nail cleaner. The comb is plastic with goldtone metal trim. No missing teeth. This is an absolutely beautiful Antique Italian Rococo Style carved wood and gesso mirror. Looks like it was carved from a single wood panel and is intricately painted with the most amazing details. So much detail. One would find details like this on a full sized piece of furniture. Hand painted with very intricate details of roses, flowers and the like. Base color is a rich deep creamy gold color which more than likely was originally an oil base white. Detailed with moss green and a profusion of red flowers embellishing this wonderful piece. Nicely varnished in clear giving this piece a wonderful warmth. Stands approximately 20 1/4 inches tall and measures approximately 12 1/2 inches wide and wood is over 1 1/2 inches at it's widest thickness. The frame is a wood base with the fine decorations added in gesso and all finished in its original gilding. The frame is in good original antique condition. We can see minor repairs to the gesso. Especially a repair to the top of the crest and there are also small bits of gesso missing here and there and chips in the gilding. All of this is very typical in these old gilt frames. The glass is also hand cut and original but the mirror was re-silvered in 1974(dated on rear) The glass is undamaged and the silvering very good with very light spotting. An antique mirror with the original glass with all of its crackle and blemishes. It is dated OCT 4 1943 Pittsburg Plate Glass Co. The frame is worn and would be an excellent project piece to accompany this beautiful mirror. Inner Dimensions are 18" Wide and 12" Tall. Outer Dimensions are 21" Wide and 15" Tall. Mirror Beautiful Vintage English Octagonal Oak Framed Beaded Jacobean Beveled Offered here is a beautiful vintage beveled mirror framed in a great oak frame. This piece is from England and is a very nice piece. The wooden frame is in good condtion with no breaks or repairs and just normal surface wear for a piece this age. The frame is good and tight and sturdy and there is a wooden back on the mirror as well. It is octagonal in shape. The mirror itself is beveled. The mirror is not perfect. It does have a fair amount of black speckling to it where the silvering is slightly damaged. So the mirror itself is definately not in mint condition but is in ok condition for it's age. If you are looking for a perfect mirror this one will not work. However. I do think this mirror is still very nice and you really can't notice the issued with ... morethe mirror unless you are looking at it from close up. I tried my best to photograph the surface of the mirror but that is difficult to do. The mirror measures 21 inches across from one side to it's adjacent side. This is from an estate in an upscale part of Chicago. It belonged to a family of engineers. The oldest daughter even became an engineer which was quite odd in the early days of feminism. Beautiful antique Wooden Framed Beveled Mirror. This is a nice(heavy) mirror. The piece is in pretty good shape. But there are a few issues; some of the veneer on the front right& left bottom corners is chipped(see pictures) The mirror is secured. But feels a little loose and has a hidden crack under the frame at the top right(cant see i t while on display) The m irro r itself is a little scratched looking if you look close and may need to be replaced i f that kind of thing bothers you. Also. I noticed some varnish drips, not sure the story there. Maybe someone tried to put a coat on at one time, again. From a distance(on display) you can not tell. It really is a pretty mirror. Vintage Framed Terone Art Print On Mirror - 1940s-1950s - Courting Couple
Vintage/antique. Medium-size wall mirror with an airbrushed print of a French-looking courting couple, framed in the original wood frame. Photos were taken outside under a"Carolina Blue" sky. Which is reflected in the mirror. Signed"Terone" next to the lady's foot. Artist Info: Alfred T. Terone(1913-1979) and his wife. Cecelia(1916-1999) graduated from New York University and moved to Chicago to work for Borin Art Products, airbrushing pictures that were then mass-produced as prints in stores like Macy's, etc. The prints were backed with brown paper and mounted in wooden frames. Some of the couple's work was used on old movie sets and some appeared on the TV show, I Love Lucy. In 1944 the Terones moved back to New York City, where they worked as commercial artists" Measures 21-1/4" high x 19-1/4" ... morewide. Paper backing is missing. Old wire strung for hanging. Antique Victorian Walnut Framed Mirror. Great condition, c. 1880 This mirror has an antique Victorian walnut frame which is c.1880 with sturdy. Old-style mortise and tenon corners. The mirror glass and frame are in excellent shape, showing only the regular minor wear of an antique. There are some small tears in the backing paper, as seen in the photo. The mirror glass(inner dimensions) measures 11" in. tall by 9 in. wide. The frame measures 13 1/2" tall x 11 1/2" wide and is approximately 1 3/8 in. wide all the way around and 1 in. deep. Antique turn of the century Gold gesso wood framed keyhole shaped mirror..
Very old gesso covered wood framed keyhole shaped wall mirror.It's somewhere around the turn of the century or very early century.It has a keyhole shape with upraised florals and braided edges.All gesso.But the edges have fallen off a good deal of the bottom area.And a couple of places along each side too.It is fragile. The good news is the florals and the larger gesso accents are intact(mostly)Both of the bottom designs have cracks(see photos) but the others seem solid.The glass is in good shape to for something older than 100 years.It's still a very nice piece. I really hope it goes to someone that has the knowledge and the patience if not the skills to at least keep it from further deteriorating.It is Gorgeous but I am afraid to keep it for fear of doing further damage to it. This auction is for a older unique Double Beaded Trim& Jacobean Trim Oak Frame Beveled Edge Wall Mirror from Scotland. It still works and with it's pretty and unique style adds interest and charm anywhere you hang it. The clarity is pretty good for it's age and it does have blemishes(dark spots) on the silvering. This is an older mirror. More than likely 80 to 100 years old and for it's age& travels it's in good overall condition. It's still a wonderful old mirror with a beautiful Oak frame that would make a Great entry mirror, bathroom mirror, hall mirror and even a neat over-the-mantle mirror. This is a vintage mid century wood& wicker framed mirror. In very good condition it has very few scratches in the wood. You cannot see them unless you are looking for them. The frame was made in mexico, the glass is hallmarked Hammon Glass Products from Indiana. It measures 23" wide by 27" tall and is 1 3/4" deep.
