Very nice pair of old brass ball andirons. Solid and heavy. The one arm or extension has been repaired with a sleeve of sorts and wiring around the arm. It is shown in photo 2. Nice repair job and very usable. I started to polish the finials(one on right has been partially polished) Would b gorgeous polished. Measure almost 18" high and the extensions are 14" The balls measure 11" around the ball. So they are on the larger size. The only identification I could find is what looks like 100K or R on the bottom of one of the arms. These came from an estate in Baltimore. Prior owner told me that these were from late 1800's to early 1900's but that is according to them. My stepdad looked at them and noticed that they look a lot like they may have been handmade from railroad tracks. They are very cool looking and no matter what their origin. In the form of Vestal Virgins who protected the sacred fire of the Goddess Vesta, Goddess of Hearth and the Flame, symbol of endurance of the Roman Empire. This design is identical to a pair in the drawing room mantel at Ballinglough Castle. Westmeath Ireland. Known as the greatest British Architect of the late 18 th Century. Robert Adam’s father was an architect, which Robert followed into the family business. He spent five years on tour in France and Italy in the 1750’s. ANTIQUE 1920s CAST IRON FIREPLACE ANDIRONS FROM OLD SPANISH HOLLYWOOD MANSION
NO RESERVE… This auction is for a handsome old pair of Fireplace Andirons. For whatever it is worth. When I purchased these at an estate, I was told these came out of an old Spanish Mansion in the Hollywood Hills called" The Castle" that had been owned by Rock Hudson. Rock Hudson bought the"Castle" house on Beverly Crest Drive the early 60s, and owned it until he died in 1985. The house has likely changed hands several times over the years, and I don't think there is anyway to substantiate that provenance. I looked up photos of the inside of his home on the internet, and found nothing in them that shows andirons closely. I do know many Hollywood stories, get embellished over the years, so I would not put a lot of stock in any story of what belonged to whom. I don't think stories like this one adds anything to the ... morevalue, but is just an interesting bit of Hollywood lore. These Andirons are indeed old 1920s era. And have a handsome design on the front. It looks to me that they have a bit of Chinese design on the front. The front legs look a bit like legs of a Foo Dog. Each one measures approx. 10 inches wide at the front feet, and about 17 1/2 tall. It looks like they were originally painted black, but there is a lot of wear to the paint. There is dark surface rust on the back of them. I have used a yellow pencil to point in a couple of my photos at one of the andirons. I am pointing at the iron arm stand on the backside. That would go into the fireplace opening. It looks to me like the end has broke off at some point, a long time ago. That piece can be removed and replaced if someone desired, or could be used as it is. Both andirons are marked on the back, Pullman, New York 622" There is a single screw post bolt on each one that connects the front piece to the back arm, that goes into the fireplace. These need to be removed for shipping, to save on the cost. When I was removing one of the screws it sheared off(broke) so I drille

Antique owl cast iron andirons with amber glass eyes. Condition as shown on pictures- some scratches and pitting to the glass eyes. One of the andirons has a new shiny screw connecting its owl to the horizontal crosspiece that supports the logs(it is loose and causes the owl to lean forward. I believe that it needs a better screw- that should be an easy fix. The glass eyes catch the light from fire and twinkle ever so magically. Each owl is approx. 13 inches tall.

Here is a beautiful set of antique brass. Very detailed and ornate fireplace andirons with cast iron backs marked BENNETT. Claw feet, acanthus leaves around the top, a pattern similar to fleur de lis up the front and side of the top. Very, very detailed; there isn't a part that doesn't have some kind of design on it. The feet alone are double knuckled, detailed and measure 1-1/2" x 1-1/4" to give you an idea of size. Some of the fanciest ones I've seen. They are in excellent condition. Each one measures 23" tall. 18" deep, and 10" across the front. These are quite heavy.

This is an absolutely stunning pair of large antique ornate solid brass Victorian fireplace andirons. They are made from heavy brass and exquisite ornate detailing throughout. A massive and fine pair of ANTIQUE brass fireplace andirons. Blacksmith-forged wood supports are original. The log stops. Feet, and secondary supports are all brass, just discolored from use. The only parts that are not brass are the horizontal log supports. This is an early pair. I have added a photo of the underside so that you can see that the tops are connected by a rod through the log stop and base. You will note that the rod bottom is peened or flattened with a hammer. This is a true indicator of age. Later 19th century ... moreandirons will have a rod that extends through the base with threads on the end. Secured by a nut. An exceptional pair. Unmarked, as best I can tell, and certainly worthy of further research. This pair is massive. And extremely heavy. Each stands 16 3/4" tall and 21" deep. The feet are 10 1/2" wide. Sold just as-found. Uncleaned and unpolished, with original warm patina. The smooth surface is as good as I have seen. This set displays beautifully. With expected wear, surface scratches, and minor dings, but no repairs. One has a short split on the BACKSIDE, as seen in bottom photo, but this is not visible from the front. Measure 12" high overall with a 7 3/4" spread at the foot. The nicely cast pair featuring a standing female figure. A very nice pair of period andirons in good condition showing little rust at the foot of the ladies and a little on the back from age appropriate use. I am sure. In very sound condition. this is an absolutely stunning pair of rare antique ornate victorian brass fireplace andirons. they have an obscure design with a dual andiron on each piece. they have a great 3 dimensional flame finial which is very detailed. The back/ wood rests are made from cast iron. With a brass plate over the top, and this is where the second is located. the brass has a great patina from age. one measures 22 inches tall by 9 inches wide by 17 inches back to front. there is slight ware to one of the back finials but facing toward the back it is hard to see. and some blacking on the back of the backs as well but will buff or clean up. great rare set. DEAL! Antique Chippendale Style/Federal Style Brass Fireplace Andirons/Firedogs
This is a pair of Antique Chippendale Style/Federal Style Brass& Iron Andirons. They are approximately 19" High and 17" Deep. They have spurred legs and ball feet. They are elegant and graceful. They have an aged brass patina. There is rust on the iron backs. One of the bolts is larger than the other one. They would look great polished or with the original patina.
