Antique Wicker Rocker wing chair white. One of pair This is one of a pair of wicker rockers being sold individually. Either individually or as a pair these chairs are striking. They are deep and comfortable and epitomize the wicker chair on the summer porch that you would have seen in an old Victorian mansion or stately home. The chairs are sizable and comfortable for all sizes of guests. The style is a wing chair- but the wings are not sharply angular- but gracefully provide the chairs with a wide width. It is 31 inches from side to side at the widest point of the wings. In keeping with the large size comfort of these chairs the arms each have a 7 1/2 inch wide shelf to rest your arms. A book, a drink, etc. There are no springs in the chair, just a seat cushion an a back cushion. It is very easy and economical to customize the cushions to ... morematch you decor. The other chair measurements are: 47 inches tall 36 inches wide the chair itself measures 30 inches front to back, including the rockers it is 38 inches front to back. The depth of the seat is 22 inches. This chair needs work along the bottom of the chair where the entire bottom is missing the final row of braid. I t was used in a shoemakers workshop in Leipzig for much of the last century. It is made from solid beech and is in very good condition and proper working order. Inevitably it has minor blemishes(and historic repairs) commensurate with it's age and use but nothing of any consequence or that cannot be assessed from the pictures. It also has a fantastic patina through all the layers of paint, varnish and polish. The seat is 35cm in diameter and can be adjusted from 55 to 65cm in height(and it has a foot rest) The legs are 47cm apart. Can ship worldwide or can be collected from Ramsgate in Kent. Back and arms are upholstered in a fine green silk fabric, which has been painted with green, cream and red stripes to demonstrate, in scale, the actual full size fabric pattern. But I can't find any dates on this chair. It is really comfortable to sit in- The chair swivels and has casters for rolling around. The back rest also swivels completely around. I could not figure out how to adjust the seat level. The upholstery is a tweed type material in green. The outdoor photos show the color the best. The steel base and back supports are painted brown. The wheels have been replaced at some point in its life(see photos) It has solid oak arms, a wide solid wood seat, and a tall spindled back, with a solid quarter sawn oak top. The chair has had one repair to one of the legs. As visible in photos, which has held for all of the 10 years that I have owned it, and it has had a tremendous amount of use in that time. Vintage Wooden Birthing Chair
This is an all wood birthing chair purchased from a wood smith shop in Spain around 1940s. Judging by the person I obtained this from. It is well over 100 years old. Traditionally, birthing chairs were instrumental in delivering babies with ease as they sat low to the ground and were sturdy and simple. They were popular during the 1800s and into the early 1900s. This particular chair is made of VERY THICK wood- 1& 1/2" in all areas except the legs at the bottom- 2" The curve up the back is particularly exceptional as it has been completely hand-made. The carpenter carved decorative holes into and through the top and both sides of the seat. The back rest also has a decorative carving. Also. The bottoms of each of the 3 legs have a scalloped carving. There is no metal in this chair at all- it is completely put together with wood. ... moreA very thoughtful and skilled person produced this! The legs are tight with good stability. There is a crack in front stemming from the knot in the wood and can be noted in the 4th photo. The chair stands sturdy and is a provocative reminder of the past. I am not sure what type of wood it is- I did consult several people who felt it could be walnut. Or pine with a dark stain. It stands 30" tall and 19" wide.
