As they are both functional and practical, they can be used in any area in the home, office, etc. Each chair is solid oak and is tight and sturdy in construction. The finish on each chair is an older finish with a nice patina. The condition of each of the twelve(12) chairs is great with wear appropriate and consistent with the age and use. There appears to be no existing damage or missing pieces to each chair. The construction and design are such so that one is comfortable sitting in them even if for a prolonged time period. The seat and eight(8) slatted back is contoured for a good comfortable sitting position. Eleven(11) of the chairs are identical to the one depicted in pictures 1-7. The twelfth(12th) chair is a matching chair except it is on a swivel base with castors. This chair is in the same condition as the others except it has the word office written on the back of it. The pictures of the swivel chair show some camera light reflection. However the finish is the same as the other chairs) The approx. dimensions of each chair is as follows: 33 1/4" H; 23 1/2" W; and 24" D. The swivel chair is approx. the same measurements as the other eleven(11)chairs) This item can be picked up in Monroeville. Al 36460. This is a really nice early 1900s childs oak hopped back windsor armchair. The chair measures 31 inches high from top of hoop to floor. Seat height is 13 inches and seat width at front is approximately 14 inches, arms height from floor is 20.5 inches. The chair has a lovely steam bent oak back with spindle supports which pierce through the steam bent oak arm. The turned spindle arm supports mortice through the arm terminals and are secured with a small oak wedge. The saddle shaped seat is nicely dished and formed with a single scratch moulded line running around it. The turned legs are united by a turned H-Stretcher and the legs mortice through the seat and are secured with wedges. The chair has been used and does show wear. There are numerous scuffs, marks and scratches with knocks and dents in places, the seat is stained and there are 2 ... moresmall splits within the seat, one around the joint of the rear left leg and the other around the front right leg(worst pictured) usual wear to the legs and stretchers with water staining underneath the seat. The chair has a waxed finish and looks fantastic. The name of D.A Pointer is stamped to the left side of the saddle shaped seat. LOCAL PICKUP ONLY- south San Jose. CA- antique Walnut Crocker Rocking Chair: Engraved top panel. Curved arms* The Crocker Chair Company of Sheboygan. Wisconsin, made this antique chair. The company was founded in the late 1800's, and seems to have gone bankrupt in the Great Depression. The chair is more intricately constructed than the"No. 32 Norse Bent Spindle Back Rocker" shown in their 1881 catalog. The Crocker Chair Co. catalogs from 1924 and later that I have seen show no rockers with a top panel having this level of decoration. I would guess that the chair might be from the 1890's to 1900's. The top panel has an intricate and precisely executed engraving. Detailed and nicely symmetrical swirl patterns radiate from the face in the center. That center face probably represents Njord. The Norse god of the wind. The ... morevertical back rails, the arm rails, and the legs are all nicely contoured poles rather than just uniformly cylindrical rods. The back of this early vintage rocker is contoured for comfort. The more you look at the images. The more you realize that not only the back panel but that all the components are complex in contour and required significant amounts of hand craftsmanship. The chair is in Excellent to VG+ condition with modest signs of use. It presents very well. The wood looks like walnut to my eyes. All wood is solid; there is no plywood anywhere. There are several coats of clear satin varnish that remain quite smooth and uniform, with some wear along edges. The heavy fabric upholstery is held in place by 38 heavy-duty brass tacks(all present) The padding under the upholstery has maintained its shape. The support webbing under the upholstery has stretched a bit. But still does its job. The chair is ready to be used. That said, some strengthening of a couple of the interlocking joints of the right arm and one leg rail might be needed to best insure longevity. Antique Rocking Chair Early 1900s by Elgin A. Simonds Company Syracuse, NY
This is an nice looking antique rocking chair with great history. It was made by The Elgin A Simonds Company Furniture of Syracuse NY. This chair has a metal label stating that it was made by"The Eglin A Simonds Company Furniture Syracuse. NY" I am not a furniture expert, but it appears to be expertly made especially with formation of the spindles and how they are finished into the top rail. Elgin A. Simonds produced furniture under this company from 1900 to about 1910 or 1920. In the 1800 Elgin A. Simonds partnered with Gustav Stickley to make furniture first in a prison. In1897. When the prison contracts grew out of favor, Simonds and Stickley started manufacturing furniture in the Eastwood facility near Syracuse. In 1898, Stickley bought Simonds out. In 1901, Simonds bought another furniture factory in Syracuse and started selling ... morefurniture under the name of"The Eglin A. Simonds Company Furniture" The chair still works and rocks when you sit in it. It has been refinished and there is a repair to one of the legs. Additionally. Something like paint or ink spilled on the seat of the chair and one of the arms has a loose connection to the base. Antique Oak Windsor Childs Chair Leather Brass 1900s
This Child's antique Oak Windsor chair has a unique feature to it. The seat is covered with a piece of brown leather. I doubt it was there from new. However this leather is very old. Perhaps it was placed on the seat to make it a little more comfortable sitting. Whatever the case might be. It was well done work. The leather is attached with tiny Brass tacks. The tacks are all tight. A few of them have developed a nice patina to them which can b removed if desired. The wood has developed a rich patina. And is in very good condition, I note only one small rough spot on the left side of the bow. I posted a pic of it. It appears the wood has a tiny split on the bow, however it is not going anywhere, as meaning it is solid and is not on the verge of breaking or anything of that sort. All joints are tight. It is a very nice piece of furniture ... morethat has survived the passage of time. It measures approx. from floor to seat measured in the front is 10 inches. For sale I have an old desk or office style arm chair. I just had the piece reupholstered. Using an old shipping coffee sack. The chair has had the joints tightened, and the padding is new. My upholster used the old sack for fabric. The sack is old and we used the sack seams to trim the piece. I lightly sanded the chair, applied a dark stain then I waxed the wood. The piece had an unique look and can be used. The foot stool is not included but it is for sale in one of my other listings. It measures: 38 1/2" tall with back. 211/2" wide x 20" deep.
