I'M OFFERING A VERY NICE VINTAGE NICHOLS& STONE CHILDS BOSTON ROCKER. THERE WERE A FEW LOOSE JOINTS WHICH I TOOK APART. CLEANED AND RE-GLUED. I ALSO RESTORED THE ORIGINAL FINISH, MEANING I DID NOT STRIP THE FINISH AND STAIN THE CHAIR. I CLEANED THE ORIGINAL FINISH BY SOFTENING IT AND LEFT IT ON THE CHAIR TO CURE. THIS LEAVES THE PIECE AS CLOSE TO THE ORIGINAL AS POSSIBLE. THE ROCKER, AS CAN BE SEEN WAS NOT ABUSED BUT BECAUSE OF IT'S AGE SOME OF THE GLUE JOINTS LOOSENED WHICH IS TYPICAL. Very nice catalog in excellent condition. Measures about 9" x 6" and has 34 pages in near mint condition. Includes 2 additional pamphlets. 1 with new styles, and a typewritten letter from the vice pres.sales manager to the person who requested the catalog. In it he states that he is sending copy of"HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT COLONIAL CHAIR, showing the complete line of Nichols& Stone chairs" The phone number on the letterhead is 4 digits so I would guess that it is from the late 50's to early 60's. Vintage Pair Hitchcock Style Chairs In Maple Nichols and Stone Unsigned V. G.
Listing this evening great pair of Hitchcock style chairs in pretty great condition. The chairs are unsigned but I am 99% sure that they were manufactured by Nichols and Stone. A quality Gardner Massachusetts furniture maker(Gardner was known as the chair capitol of the world back in the 1900's) The chairs are 35" tall with a seat height of 18" The seat is 17 1/2" wide at the front and the seats are 15" deep. They are solid maple in construction and very strong. The turnings are excellent. The only issue that I could see was a little damage to the rush/fiber on one of the seats(pic#5) I believe the rush/fiber to be original as well and in very good condition. The chairs appear to have been appreciated by and taken care of very well by the owners. Due to the size these chairs they will not be able to be shipped USPS ... moreat a reasonable cost. Local pickup is the least expensive option but chairs can be carefully packed up and shipped to the Greyhound station nearest you for $65.00 or less(Greyhound does not deliver so you would have to pick the chairs up at the station) I've shipped many chairs and other pieces of furniture through Greyhound and have never had a problem. Pair of Vintage Nichols & Stone Windsor Arm Chairs
Good pre-owned condition with some moderate wear. Scratches and stains. There is a break at the top of one of the spindles of one chair(see pic) and the arm can be pulled up off of its support a little bit so a little wood glue would be in order. Both chairs could do with a new stain and finish job to bring back to new looking but they look pretty good as they are too. 31-1/2" tall.

Vintage Nichols & Stone Child’s Pine Boston Rocker from 1938 Hurricane
This child's rocking chair was produced in a limited edition after a terrible hurricane hit the entire length of New England on September 21. 1938. The storm left thousands homeless and sent millions of pine trees crashing to the ground. The hefty seat of this“Hurricane” chair is a full 2" thick and made of pine from that hurricane, as guaranteed by the burned-in brand. My parents gave one of these chairs to both my brother and myself for our birthdays in late 1940, when we turned 6 and 3, respectively. The chairs were well-used and much loved. As you can see from the photos, the one I have left has lots of scratches, dents, etc. and I believe someone must have repaired a back leg at some point and added a little black paint there. Otherwise, there are no restorations to either the black paint or the gold decorations. The marks don't ... moreshow as much in person as they do in the photos, due to using a flash. I always loved the two little deer on the upper back. This treasured classic collectible is still sturdy and usable as is, but someone who knows how could lovingly restore it to its original condition. This little rocker is 27" high from the floor to the top of the back, and the seat measures 15" across.
