I'm about 100 miles from Tulsa.Ok and just a bit further then that from OKC, OK. Little over 2 hours from Dallas, TX, same about to Arkansas. Beautiful child's rocker is 23 inches tall. 20& 1/2 inches widest measurement from arm to arm across. Bottom wood that forms the rocker is 21 inches long and has a width of 3/4 of an inch. Child's antique rocking chair's side width is 12& 1/2 inches measured along the tannish brown paper trim. About 2& 1/2 inches of thick paper trim is missing from one side. The other side has tears and I have tape holding it up to the chair for now. Back thick paper trim has no tears or repairs. Rocking chair has a red and green design at the top of ... morechair see photos. Chair pads are rust. Beige, tan and brown striped with red stitching going through out it. One black tie on upper pad has broken off. Wicker behind is great condition. There is a thick cushion seat that matches the lining fabric below it. Wicker very good all over. Has a nail missing off one leg the others are there so no problem. One nail is sticking out I didn't attempt fixing see photo. Some little wicker holding nails underneath are poking out a bit. Child's Solid Oak Rocking Chair Rocker 1920-1950 Early Painted Beautiful Fancy
Here is a beautiful Child's Rocking Chair that dates. I would estimate, from the 1920-1950 period. And is probably American Made(it is not marked anywhere) The chair looks to be machine made. Because of the turnings of the front posts, but it could be partially hand made. It is solid oak. It has been painted 4 times. Possibly originally. There are only scattered chips of paint, but on a couple I was able to determine that the chair has been painted pink(originally? Light blue. Dark green. And this current pea green. In that order. The chair is super strong and could probably hold an adult with a butt small enough to fit into it. The width of the seat is 12 1/2" x 11 1/4" The chair is 21" tall. 15 1/2" wide at the front and 12 1/2" wide at the back. The rockers are 21" long exactly. The arms are nicely cut ... morein kind of a early American style. The back has 2 2" slats and the seat has 5 2" slats; they are not cracked. There is no structural issues with this chair. Please see the Description Section where I go into detail as to condition. The paint has dulled and taken on a nice patina of its own. But this chair has not been painted in decades, and in fact, the tone of the green has a certain" 1950's" coloring to it. As I state in the Description Section. This paint on this chair could be lead base. Or Kemtone. A brand name paint from the 1950's that adhered well and perhaps also had lead in it. For this reason, I would say this chair is more for an adult to decorate with than it is for a child to use. One of the nicest very nice early to mid- 20th Century children's chair you will see. This is another great family piece. This was my grandfather's when he was a young child(born 1907) My late mother kept this chair forever. It has all the original mechanism brackets and bar. I think the cushions are not original. But are very old. They appear to have had buttons on them at one time. Cushions are not perfect, but are still very attractive on the chair. This is a nice one family owner piece with a great look and patina on the original finish. This has been carefully cared for throughout the years. Shows some minor wear being 100 years old and all, but far less than most still original examples that I have seen. The original finish is still in tack showing wear worn– rub marks on its edges and other surface areas that should be able to be rejuvenated as opposed to refinished or perhaps just used the way it is… I believe the wood to be mahogany but I am not sure. As I am not an expert on wood. The finish shows pretty much all of what started life on this rocker however one rocker does have some finish loss to the outside bottom portion of it… but overall this rocker has a nice natural patina… There are two screws that were added at some time in this rockers life to secure one of the rockers. DESCRIPTION You are bidding on an antique solid oak rocking chair. About twenty years ago. I had the chair restructured by a professional restorer. It is still quite sturdy. The restorer added two steel straps under the seat to reinforce the rear portion of it. They can only be seen if the chair is turned over. There is a vintage embroidered cushion that is included. The cushion was professionally cleaned recently and filled with new foam filler. This chair is the right size to be used as a"granny" rocker or by an older child. Please note that this auction is for local pickup only. FEATURES. The chair is finished in a medium oak and features a back of tiger oak. There are six spindles on the back and three spindles plus a main post for each arm. The seat is embossed pressed board and is painted a chocolate brown.
