Antique Oak and Ash Pressed Back Art Nouveau Office Chair Early 20th Century USA
For your consideration I have a beautiful Art Nouveau refinished antique Oak and Ash Pressed back bentwood armchair/ office chair. The chair is clean and in great condition and ready for your home or office. I completely stripped and refinished and used it for the last 3 years. The chair has been taken apart and reglued where necessary. The cast iron base has been cleaned and raises to about 22" seat height and lowers to ab out 17" seat height. The mechanism could be tightened up a bit. But I'm 6'6" and 240lbs and seats me just fine. The seat width is 23" wide and 19 1/2" deep and 48" to top of back at the 20" seat height. This chair dates back to late 1800's to early 1900's. There is a beautiful dendriform press into the back complete with rosettes on each upper post. Cane seat in good condition! Overall condition"good" Has some minor dings, marks, scratches. The"pineapple" style leg wraps have some cracks and are missing a few pieces but overall are sound. A small piece of veneer from under the chair rim has separated and will be shipped along with the chair and does not hinder the function or look. late 19th-early 20th century couch + chair (mission style)
these have been re-upholstered and refinished. my friend got these from her great-grandfather. I think the couch opens up into something.But I'm not sure how it works. The arm of the couch needs some glue and it will be 100% I think this is tiger oak. the couch is about 62" long and 28" high at the hand rest knuckles. The chair is 37" inches high at the highest part, and about 29" wide. I'm not a wood expert, so please look at these before you buy. Greetings: please see below on local pickup versus shipping) Of interest to some of you might be this fairly beat Arts& Crafts oaken chair. The Fleur de lis is quite beautiful I would estimate that the year is about 1910/1914 based on family conversation. This has been long in storage. The photographs show the wear. Repairs, split in seat and general decade of usage the chair has received. That being said. The oak is quite beautiful in grain and composition. The design is delicate and nicely proportioned. But as can be seen it needs sanding down. And refinishing. The rails and uprights are all strong, no splits, but areas have suffered wear, and surface damage. I am sure it would restore well, but the condition, overall is 5/10. Thanks for looking. I would prefer pick up in either Bethlehem Pennsylvania; or Manhattan- your choice.
