It was ... moremade circa 1850 to 1860. It features a walnut wooden carved backrest adorned with gothic finials. The needlepoint seat is original with the seat itself featuring springs and padding for comfort. As stated this is a petite chair with the top of the seat measuring 14 inches from the floor. The chair measures 21 inches long by 20 1/2 inches wide and is 38 1/2 inches tall. The wood on this chair is solid walnut and is well preserved and cared for. There are minor portions of surface cracking on what appears to have been some sort of a varnish applied to the front legs. This doesn't affect the wood or quality of the chair. As this chair is in the age range of 150 years old plus. These minor imperfections add to the authenticity of evidence of its true age. Additionally, there are a few tacks missing(about 4) from the seat area which can be viewed in the photos. Shipping: I will package this for shipment and ship via UPS. We are so proud to be offering this beautiful matching set of 15 rolled arm. Turn-of-the-century solid oak arm chairs. These are impossible to find in a matching set of 15. This set came out of a courthouse in the New Hampshire mountains, and they were refinished five or six years back. The courthouse sold them because a couple of them have split seats, and they were afraid the courthouse would get sued if someone ended up with a splinter in the wrong place, if you know what I mean. Their loss is our gain: Can you imagine putting these around a conference table? How about inside a home theater or a large dining room table? The chairs are finished in a medium oak stain, and have seven slats in the back that curve like a popsicle stick. The arms are all steamed ash bent oak, as shown in the pictures, with multi-turned spindles supporting them and the original iron rod that keeps the arm tight at all times. The base has multiple turned legs, multiple turned spindles across the front as cross stretchers, and the original metal cross bracing, which we used to take out before selling the item in the old days, but which people now seem to like. If the buyer of these chairs would like, we will remove the metal rods, plug the chair legs where the rods were, and tighten up each chair for an additional $3

Rare Antique Arts & Crafts Solid Oak Hall or Nursing Chair circa 1900 - 1920's
This is a delightful. One-of-a-kind Antique Arts& Crafts Solid-Oak Chair. Several dealers have dated it from 1900 to 1920 and by all observations that certainly appears to be true. It is solid oak with brass screws. The maker is unknown. The legs have not been cut off since one can still see the maker's original bevels on the bottom of them. The patina and all other visual signs indicate the chair is about one-hundred or so years old. It has not been re-finished. Given the angle of the seat it may have been intended as a nursing chair. It also could serve as a hall chair. One other possibility would be as a desk chair. You be the judge of that. The chair is very sound and has no cracks or breaks. There are two chips out of the back on the cut-out edge which are shown in the photos. They are not glaring. Although the legs and braces ... moreare finished smooth on the edges, the back and the seat edges have been left with saw marks still visible. There is a faint circular outline on the chair seat where a pot may have sat at one time. It is not an indentation of the wood, just a faint semi-circle. I have searched extensively on the web for another chair like this one. I have not found anything even close. It is truly a rarity. The dealers I consulted said they had never seen another like it either. The design itself is quite unique. The elongation of the back down to the braces being the most unusual feature. It adds a touch of elegance to an otherwise simple chair. It will make a wonderful addition to your Arts& Crafts home or furniture collection. This is the most AMAZING old/new antique I have ever seen! This beautiful old chair was rescued from the attic of a decrepit old Victorian mansion near Seaside Park in Bridgeport. CT. The AMAZING THING is that every inch of this chair says NEW-except that it was found layered in very old dust and spider's webs even though it was underneath a dust cover! We had no clue at all to suggest that we would find what we did once the dust was washed away(it was too stuck on to be wiped) As' inch-by-inch of dust was removed, more-and-more sparkling NEW CHAIR was revealed!
