This Auction is for a somewhat hard to come by Coil Spring from an A.H.Schram Platform Rocking Chair. The chair of course had two of these springs and I will be putting up the other spring later- this auction is for only one spring. The chair they came off was not in bad condition at all. But shipping costs from Canada are very expensive and the cost of shipping a whole chair would be just out of the question- therefore the reason for selling just the springs. I am selling a beautiful authentic antique(NOT reproduction) platform rocker that has been in my family for many years. My mother bought the rocker at an antique auction in 1950. It was originally filled with horse hair. I had the chair stripped and recovered with new padding 10 years ago which cost me more than $300. It still has the original springs which are in perfect condtion. This chair is in excellent condition. It was not sat on at all after being recovered. I believe the chair is Huntzinger. I'M OFFERING MY ANTIQUE A.H. SCHRAM ANTIQUE PLATFORM ROCKING CHAIR ON WHEELS. IT IS WOOD CARVED AND UPHOLSTERED. I HAD IT RESEARCHED BY AN ANTIQUE EXPERT. HE DATES THE CHAIR FROM 1897 TO 1908. I INHERITED THIS CHAIR FROM MY GREAT GRANDFATHER. IT WAS MADE BY A MAN NAME A.H. SCHRAM OF WISCONSIN. HE OPENED HIS FURNITURE BUSINESS IN SHEBOYGAN WISCONSIN IN THE FALL OF 1888 AND SOLD OUT IN 1906. HE THEN MOVED TO MERRILL WISCONSIN AND OPENED A.H. SCHRAM& SONS FURNITURE BUSINESS IN 1908. THE COIL SPRING ROCKER WAS PATENTED IN 1897 BY SCHRAM. THE SCHRAM SPRING ARRANGEMENT WAS CONSIDERED AN EXPERIMENTAL TYPE ROCKER AND DID NOT LAST BUT A FEW YEARS IN THE MARKET MAKING THIS CHAIR IN IT's CONDITION EVEN MORE RARE.
