The plaque on the top says"Tung Woo Hong Kong Trade Mark No. M039" I do not ... moreknow much about it. As I recently found it and one more in my grandfathers garage after he passed away. It is rather large, and I believe it is made out of copper and brass, based on the way it has tarnished, but I am unsure. The burner itself, and the glass pieces appear to be in good shape, but the exterior needs to be refinished or polished. This would be an excellent project for a restoration, or just a very cool nautically themed piece to have around the house. I will be selling the second of these lanterns in a separate auction with similar details. The only difference between this one and the other is that this one has a piece of curved metal around the glass over the burner on the inside, and the glass cover is shorter. VINTAGE BRONZE CONCORDIA YAWL PORT MASTHEAD LIGHT NR
The previous owner of this light told me it came off a concordia yawl and it was the port masthead light. The mast was damaged back in the 70's by a storm and her grandfather took it down and was in the process of repairing it when he had a stroke and the project had to come to a stop. They had a sale and the light was in the barn so here it is. That's all I know about it. I'll let the pictures speak for it and will try and answer any? the best I can. Vintage WWII US Navy Ships Double Light Port/Starboard Masthead Restored Bronze
This is a very nice vintage USN navigation light. It has an older plug on it. It will hold 12 bulbs- 6 each light. There are 3 lights installed in each side of the lamp that are in it come on when plugged in(1 of the bulbs on either side may be burned out. It will hold 12 bulbs- 6 each light. This looks to be made out of solid bronze and/or brass. The red lens has a small scratch and one or 2 very small chips and the white/clear lens has a small chip. A brass"MASTHEAD" plaque surmounts the hood of this VINTAGE NAUTICAL LANTERN. It stands 14-1/2 inches tall. Not including handle. Features CURVED GLASS LENS and curved metal reflector plate, Sturdy brass mounting brackets on back- presumably for affixing to the mast of a sailing ship. Constructed of brass, glass, and brass plating over- judging from the tarnish- probably copper? This is most likely an older decorative reproduction. It's rendition is very faithful. And lantern is functional. The base unscrews to take a CANDLE- either one with a wide base, or a taper inserted into your own socket(no disrespect intended) OR. This is a wonderful copper masthead lamp/lantern that was converted over to a lamp for home use by a talented hobbyist who loved Nantucket. While the cord is 16" long. It was made to sit on a shelf or furniture because he thoughtfully added felt to protect the surface it was sat on in his home. The glass is original and is marked C.B. Birmingham England as etched. It is one of the cleaner and well preserved lanterns I have seen. It is approx 12 ¾" tall- not including the handle and 8 ½" wide including the brass brackets. Very Rare PURPLE Masthead Signal Lantern made by Perko from the early 1900s. This piece is in remarkable shape including a lens with no cracks and only a couple minor chips. Additionally it contains all of the original lamp socket hardware. Once it has new wiring installed it will function as new assuming you can find the appropriate light bulbs. Five bulbs are included but have not been tested. The Brass/Bronze casing has some residual paint spots from a few paintings over the years. The Brass up rods also have some discoloration. This all lends itself perfectly to the wonderful patina of this maritime treasure. Due to it's amethyst colour. The Fresnel lens is likely to have been made of manganese dioxide decolorized glass which was produced up until about 1920. The PERKO trademark was registered by Perkins Marine Lamp. Inc. in 1922. ... moreSo a lens made from manganese dioxide glass after 1920 may be rare. The casing is made of heavy cast brass or bronze. Dimensions 11.5" x 6" 12 lbs The illumination shown in the product photos is produced by a small LED torch held behind the lens. A two second exposure time was used for photographic effect. PERKO is still manufacturing marine lights and lanterns in their large facitity in North Miami. Florida. MASTHEAD nautical/ Marine Ships Oil Lamp/ Lantern- 10 1/2" tall from base to top of handle. That's about all I know about this piece! Please review the photographs and ask questions if you have them. I will tell you what I see below. But I don't know anything about these things. It appears to be. From what I see on the Internet, an oil lamp or lantern for a ship. It appears complete to me, again based what I see on the Internet. I see the lantern, a metal reflector inside, a wick in a holder, with a knob that turns to raise the wick. Back of the lantern slides up and down to access the inside. At the back of the lantern. At the top, it says Made in England. On the front of the lantern. On top(the chimney? it has a decorative little plaque that says Masthead. Inside. On the handle that turns, believe it says Sherwood, but it's ... morehard to see. Also inside. On the brass colored piece that holds the wick, it says WEDGE. This was advertised as a"vintage marine oil lantern" The auction I just purchased this at. I do not know if it is old. A repro, original, in part or in whole, or if it is in working order. I can tell you that when I slipped my hand inside. There was some black dirt that resembled SOOT. At some point, I believe this was used. The fabric wick appears clean/unused. Assuming that was replaced. The globe is rounded and feels thin. I do see waves or imperfections. And what may be little bubbles. It almost feels plastic to me, but why would plastic be wavy or contain little bubbles? I just don't know. There is a dent to the right of the masthead label. And another small ding at the rear, left side, about 3 inches from the top of the sliding door. VINTAGE SAILBOAT BATTERY OPERATED MASTHEAD LAMP
This is a Fully Operating. Vintage, Brass, Sailboat, White Masthead Lamp. It has a nice Patina. It works perfectly. It works off of a 6 Volt, Dry Cell Battery. These can be purchased almost everywhere Batteries are sold! The Dry Cell Battery is heavy, so it will be shipped to the"Lucky" Auction Winner without the Battery. It has both the"Top" and"Bottom" Clips, so it can be raised and lowered much like a Flag would be raised and lowered. The Glass Lense has no cracks or chips. Vintage Brass Bronze PERKO Marine Masthead Signal Lantern Early 1900s MARITIME
Very Rare Masthead Signal Lantern made by Perko from the early 1900s. This piece is in remarkable shape including a lens with no cracks. The Brass/Bronze casing has been painted black. But you can see the true color in the pictures. A great maritime treasure. The PERKO trademark was registered by Perkins Marine Lamp. Inc. in 1922. The casing is made of heavy cast brass or bronze. Up for sale is an extraordinary Very Large Vintage Meteorite Copper Masthead Nautical Ships Light with thick original and very rare Fresnel Lens. It is currently converted into an AC Light which will accept a standard light bulb as shown in the photos. This is an awesome sized copper lamp which most likely saw usage on the Chesapeake Bay. Pair Vintage Copper & Brass Tung Woo Anchor & Masthead Lanterns Never Used
This pair of Tung Woo lanterns came from a copper collection they have never been used. They are about 9" high without the handles. There are few dimple dings on them. There is bent sot on the back of the masthead lantern(shown in photo) that is about 1/2" long. There is also a place on the glass of the masthead lantern about 1" long. I'm not sure, I think it is a flaw in the glass, there is also a photo of it. These are beautiful lanterns. Please look at the photos and email any questions you may have about them.
