Should be removed) The classic anchor lamp used on sailing ships for hundreds of years. The anchor lamp is machined in pure heavy-gauge steel sheet. The Fresnel style lens is made to magnify the oil lamp light to be visible for 20 nautical miles. The tops to the main body and the vent top are both hinged. Description: This is a large antique"birdcage" type oil lantern that was made between 1860 and 1890. It has a period Fresnel lens globe that is in good condition with a bit of chipping around the rim. But no cracks or structural damage. These brass lamps were re-produced by Perkins Marine Lamp Corporation but this one is an original 1800s light as shown by the beautifully decorated hanging ring at the top, careful handmade construction, etc. This one is also extra special in that it has the post fittings for use in a light house- it is missing the brass plate which would have marked it as such, but you can see where it used to be attached. These antique nautical lamps were used extensively for anchor lights, and after its life in a lighthouse it may have been used at the top of the mast during heavy fog or in the night to keep other ... moreships from running into the boat. It is missing the burner and bottom plate- it may have been wired for electric after the use of whale oil lamps declined, but please note that only what is in the pictures is included. This is a large nautical lantern measuring 14" tall and 6" wide. Lamp measures a stately 23" to top of handle. 18" tall without handle and at its widest a 10" diameter. With the exception of a dent in the brass at the base the lantern is in excellent condition. Lantern inner chimney has a couple of chips and a crack at the bottom where it sits in base. This can be easily replace but I beleive that this one is original so I will not replace. Scarce Pair Antique National Marine Lamp Maritime Navy Anchor Red Globe Lanterns
Just out of a local house is this nice pair of Red globe maritime lanterns. Our lantern books show that they were called Globe Lanterns.Navy Lanterns, Signal Lanterns, or Anchor Lights. This pair was made by the National Marine Lamp Co. around 1900. The lamps are galvanized and measure about 15 5/8 inches tall to the top of the ring or about 14 inches to the top of the lantern with the ring folded down. It measures about 9 1/2 inches wide. They are both in good condition. One has a brass tag marked MF'RD by National Marine Lamp Co. New York. The globe has no cracks but has some paint on the surface and some light scratching. It is missing the catch for the bottom door and the font is missing. The other lantern is not marked with the makers plate. The globe has some paint on it and has some light scratching as well but no cracks. It does ... morehave its original font with the burner marked National Marine Lamp Co. It also has a 1/4 inch hole punched in the bottom plate. Both lanterns have had several coats of paint. See photos. Would make a nice addition to any collection. Guaranteed as described. I was really excited to find this old lamp at an estate sale. I have no way of determining just exactly how old this is. But based on the electrical switch, and wiring, I would say it is definately antique. I have never seen anything like this before. The anchor is hand carved out of wood, and the the fixture is attached to a cast iron holder. There is a letter"K" on the switch for the lamp. It measures 11 1/2" tall, 9" wide, and 7" deep. There is a wire hanger thru the hole on the top of the anchor, to hang it on the wall. The most incredible thing about this old lamp is.IT WORKS! The wire is cracked from age, and could be replaced, but I couldn't bring myself to change this lamp in any way. A great collector's item. Very unusual and practical configuration. Solidly constructed of heavy brass and thick Fresnel glass. Highly domed top opens for cleaning. Knurled thumbscrews allow access to the main body. Interesting articulated swivel ring on the downhaul bail prevents lamp stressing while the vessel is rolling. Very thick'lighthouse' type Fresnel lens is marked with a triangle and the letters'GGG' Definitely worth some research. The heavy Fresnel lens provides significant magnification of the flame. Brass Anchor Lantern Columbia River Lightship LV-88, Meteorite Marine Lamp Gift?
This"Meteorite" 3M" anchor light was removed from the US Coast Guard Lightship LV-88 by her last owner. The body of this lamp is a brass or copper alloy by the look of it and the original fresnel lens is present. There are galvanized iron wire hangers top and bottom to raise and secure the light on board ship. The original burner is present along with plenty of soot and in general it is just as it was when last used. Overall condition is good. No cracks or broken joints, but there are three fairly large dents and various small ones as typical of a lantern used on a ship for years. The lens is in very good condition with the exception of one area of chipping about 1.5" long as shown in the photo. The lens a good quality casting with a trademark of three"G"s within a pyramid. In my opinion this is typical of the ... morekind of wear you see on these lanterns, particularly anchor lights which were frequently hauled up and down for lighting and extinguishing. I have not asked. But I can probably get a letter or note from the man who owned the ship attesting to the provenance of this lantern. I do not promise that to the buyer as I have not asked, just occurred to me while writing this) but I think he would probably not mind doing so. In any even, I guarantee the provenance 100% This would make a wonderful gift for a collector of marine antiques or a former lightship crewman etc. A coppersmith or silversmith could remove the dents quite easily in my opinion. And of course polishing would an option. If the buyer wishes, I can arrange to have this soda-blasted at the buyer's cost. This removes all soot, dirt and oxidization and yet does not stipple or affect the surface of the metal or glass in any way. This treatment is an excellent preparation for display or further cleaning or polishing. This will be very carefully packed in box at least 16x16x24. Weighing at least 22lbs. Shipping is at cost. 1960s Nautical Maritime All Wood Table Lamp-Anchor-Beer Keg-Bar Room
In super condition is this 1960s All Wooden Table Lamp in a Nautical Maritime theme. The Lamp has a large anchor resting on its side against a big beer keg. The Beer Keg is made of wooden staves and metal hoops. It has a spigot in front. Near the Keg is a wooden Beer Stein wrapped in metal hoops. The Lamp is framed in real rope around the top and around the recessed base. The base is kidney shape and is thick solid wood. The“floor” of the base is grooved to represent a ship’s floor. The Lamp is all original and comes with its original neck. Harp, finial and cord set. The light switch is a 3-way light switch and works on all 3 levels. The Base has its original green felt surface protectors. The Lamp measures 29” high to the top of the harp; 13” high to the top of the upper rope, 11” wide and 10” deep. The Harp measures 9” high. This listing is for a used Perko Anchor lamp with brass top. The lamps' dimensions are appx. 11 3/4" high excluding the top ring and 5 1/2" across the base. The lamp body itself is galvanized steel and has been painted silver at some time. The brass fuel fount and burner has a tube soldered into it for the wiring of an optional electric bulb holder(which is not included) To pass through, this was done at the factory, it is not a hole in the fount.
