Vintage National Marine Company combination bow lantern. We are very pleased to be able to offer for your consideration this wonderful piece of vintage maritime/nautical hardware. This early style kerosene burner combination navigation light with Fresnel lenses made by the National Marine Lamp Co. of New York. This lamp was made prior to 1912 since after that date National Maritime were marked with a patent date of 1912 or used the trade name“Triplex” This is an early example since the company was founded in 1906. This lamp is most suitable for someone seeking this shielded design of which only a few have survived. It has a great deal of character and a wonderfully warm patina. THE MAKER: National Marine Lamp Co. According to Anthony Hobson's Lanterns that Lit our World, Book 2 was started in 1906 operating from Pear St. in New York City. ... moreIt brought the burner shop Bristol Brass in Forestville, CT in 1911. National Marine bought from Bristol Brass, so similarities in the products are to be expected. Later National Marine absorbed a company called American Lamp and Brass, according to Hobson, but the"American" name died with the acquisition. Fredrick Perkins became president of National in 1913. Frederick and his son Louis left that company in 1916 and moved back to Brooklyn, New York where they started Perkins Marine Lamp Corporation so there is a lot of lamp history in this early lamp. This is a matched pair of antique marine lanterns made by National Marine Lamp Co. I think they were used to signal other ships but this is not my area of expertise. They are wedge shaped with one blue glass lens and the other is red. The glass is very thick and ribbed and in surprisingly wonderful condition. They each are also marked with"Lense Triplex Trade Mark Dec 20 1910" which I believe is referring to the glass lens only. The Red lamp is marked"MFRD by National Marine Lamp Co New York" and the Blue has an oval metal tag on the back that says"Geo. B. Carpenter& Co Chicago" I don't know why there are 2 different marks as the lanterns are otherwise identical aside from the glass color. I am assuming they were painted black by someone at some point but if so it has been a long while. This auction is for a 1910 National Marine Lamp Company ship navigation lamp. It is all original with only a few nick in the original glass. There are a few small dings in the lamp just from every day use over the last 103 years. The brass plate on the back of the lamp clearly stamped" National Marine Lamp Company New York" The hanging ring has some surface rust on it. Scarce Pair Antique National Marine Lamp Maritime Navy Anchor Red Globe Lanterns
Just out of a local house is this nice pair of Red globe maritime lanterns. Our lantern books show that they were called Globe Lanterns.Navy Lanterns, Signal Lanterns, or Anchor Lights. This pair was made by the National Marine Lamp Co. around 1900. The lamps are galvanized and measure about 15 5/8 inches tall to the top of the ring or about 14 inches to the top of the lantern with the ring folded down. It measures about 9 1/2 inches wide. They are both in good condition. One has a brass tag marked MF'RD by National Marine Lamp Co. New York. The globe has no cracks but has some paint on the surface and some light scratching. It is missing the catch for the bottom door and the font is missing. The other lantern is not marked with the makers plate. The globe has some paint on it and has some light scratching as well but no cracks. It does ... morehave its original font with the burner marked National Marine Lamp Co. It also has a 1/4 inch hole punched in the bottom plate. Both lanterns have had several coats of paint. See photos. Would make a nice addition to any collection. Guaranteed as described. Nice RARE Antique COPPER lamp searchlight from the turn of the century. Beautiful original condition but untested and will likely need restoration in order to function at 100% The glass measures approx. 6" in diameter and the COPPER housing is nearly 6 1/2" deep. The unit is approximately 17" tall from top to bottom. THIS BEAUTIFUL PIECE WEIGHS NEARLY 7 POUNDS! Now that's a lot of copper! Because of it's QUALITY EARLY AMERICAN BUILD The mechanical functions work very well. Push the handle up and down and the lamp housing aims upwards and downwards. Vintage National Marine Lamp Co. # 11 Boat Signal Lantern
This Handheld Oil Burning Boat Signal Lantern is in fairly good condition considering its age. Has the scratches that I would expect to see. The wick is new in the burner which leads me to believe it was replaced because the interior does have some burn marks from use. The lens is in great shape and spring loaded action is as stiff as ever. Probably made between 1900- 1950 and the exact date of manufacture is unknown to me. Stands 9" tall and has about a 3 1/2" diameter.

The burner is rusted through and is missing one of two metal tabs that held it in place. The metal lantern shows areas of surface rust but is solid and not flimsy in any way, ding on the cupola where the ring is mounted, both pieces of glass in good condition. Offered here for sale is a large boat/small ship size stern lamp with a clear lens. This lamp is in used. Original condition and retains the original inside oil lamp which is in good condition. The green paint shows age and use but looks to be original. The lens is in very good condition. This piece probably dates to the early 1900’s. Great for display or even use. This is a vintage Ship Lantern that say's on the knob inside the glass The National Marine Lamp Co. I showed a picture but it is difficult to read as the writing is very small. This piece was purchased at an estate sale from an avid collector and they told me it has been hanging in their kitchen for over 40 years and they had purchased it from an antique store. Lebby the National Marine Lamp - Brass Ship Light - Nauticle Searchlight ?
Being offered is a Brass Ship Light- may be a Searchlight. Tag on the back of lamp says Lebby- The National Marine Lamp Co. This is an Old brass lamp- age unknown- has some dings and pitting on the body and the concave mirror in the back of lamp is cracked and about 25% of the mirror silver backing is flaked off. Mirror is labeled Corning Glass Works. See pictures. Weighs over 10 lbs- 9 1/2" diameter and about 10 1/2" long. Has 4 brass mounting bolts- 2 on each side that are included. Has cord attached(cord is frayed where it is attached to the lamp) for 110 volts and light bulb works- I'm guessing this is a retrofit and not the original lamping but not sure. Beautiful condition. Black paint over brass. Includes oil/ kerosene reservoir and wick. Which looks never used. Likely from the 1910s or 1920s. Black paint over brass. No paint loss or corrosion. A few scuffs from age. Clear lens, which is intact. Lens assembly opens and closes easily, and latches solidly. The aperture opens and closes easily, with solid spring action. Boat Signal” die stamped above the lens, and maker’s mark stamped on the back. 8 ½ inches high. 5 inches deep, 3 ½ inches wide. Weighs about 2 pounds. Very beautiful Antique Vintage Marine oil lamp. Has a 360 Degree Fresnel lens which seems to have no chips but. Has cool bubbles and imperfections. The oil lamp has National Marine Lamp company stamped on knob and is in good condition but, should have new wick installed. The hinge to bottom is missing and should be repaired. See picture of hinge. Lamp has a great vintage patina and would make a great addition to your collection. Measures 13 1/4 with hoop, 5 5/8" base, 3 3/4" height to lens.
