Is 5 inches wide across the back, 3 inches wide across the front, and is 4-3/8 inches deep. It has a flat back so that it can be mounted on a wall. It has one flaw, the latch for the door in back is broken. It is otherwise in excellent condition with no significant cracks, dents or breaks. The tri-colored original bullet lens glass is still in excellent condition. This is the one you want to complete your collection, so don't let this rare lantern get away! This auction is for a 1910 National Marine Lamp Company ship navigation lamp. It is all original with only a few nick in the original glass. There are a few small dings in the lamp just from every day use over the last 103 years. The brass plate on the back of the lamp clearly stamped" National Marine Lamp Company New York" The hanging ring has some surface rust on it. Huge Maritime Navigation Lamp(copper w/brass fittings for connection to poles) I have no idea where this is from- I am guessing that it is from Japan. But have no way to confirm. Measurement to the top of the handle is 24. The box itself is about 10" wide, but is about 14" because of the brass fittings. There is a small hole in the karosine tank. The only marking that is distinguishable to me is the Seahorse 3 on the side of the lantern and the No. 3226 on the copper. I really don't know the history of this piece. I am selling it for a friend who got it from a lady whose husband was in the Air Force(post WWII) He was a pilot and always brought things home. This was given to my friend by this lady. Offered for sale is a vintage nautical navigation light. It has an internal. And removable ABCO oil lamp. I believe that it is made from copper and solder-joined. The only markings on it are on the oil lamp adjuster. ABCO 1) The chimney has a swivel top to allow access to the lamp globe. Automatic lamp changer for Brass Buoy Nautical navigation marker Light house
DESCRIPTION FOR AUCTION: This is a very unusual find. It is an original automatic lamp changer that would go in an old brass buoy lamp light navigation marker or light house light. I have a brass marker lamp listed this week and this is a second mechanism. It has a wheel of sockets that holds 4 bulbs. As one burns out. The mechanism rotates and lights the next bulb. I can't find the manufacturer name on it. There are just some serial numbers. The mechanism measures about 5 inches across the base and about 6 inches to the top of a bulb. There are currently 3 bulbs in this one. It is a 110 volt mechanism. I attached it to a 12volt power supply. The lamps didn't light but the mechanism rotated when a bulb was removed. IL has L7 on the back and L2 underneath the globe measures approx 13" tall. 7" base& 8 1/4" across the backside does have a couple on small chips on the front as shown. the right side bolt is sheared off near the top. Lamp is easy to take apart. Easy to install bulb. Glass was recently cleaned with dish soap and water although there is still some sticker like residue on it in a few areas. When lit the glass glows red but when off the glass has a darkish tint almost purple in color which hints to very old glass. Glass globe is ... morenot perfect but there are no fractures or major cracks; glass does have a few chips, largest one is pictured and there are two other minor ones plus some small nicks, scratches and marks along with heavy oxidation which is causing the purple tint. Plastic grommet was install on the top with a few layers of electrical tape around it to help keep it snug in the brass although I would not recommend hanging the light from the cord alone. This is a super cool Brass Lamp with Corning lenses. This lamp works nicely and runs on 12 volt Bulb not included. The lenses are in overall good shape but the red lenses has a small ship not a crack but a chip of glass missing. I will point to imperfection in the picture. The light is approximately 7.5" tall x 5 inches wide. This is wired with lamp cord but is easily changed. The lenses are made from Corning. I'M not sure how the burner was installed. As this does not open from front or have clips like others I've seen. No Chips in glass that I can see, No holes in metal, Minor bend on left front corner.
