It is very heavy bronze ... moreweighing 40lb and is 12" in diameter and 15 inches tall. it has a heavy clear glass fresnel lens a separate inner red lens which sits about an inch inside the fresnel lens. the red lens has a few cracks, but seems to be stable. the only marking that I can find on this is the number "3" stamped at the lug where the cord exits. this light is wired to accept a standard edison base bulk. The cord is 10 feet long and in decent shape, but is a little stiff from age. As shown in the photos, the cap flips open to access the bulb.

RARE Vintage Lantern Light Buoy Piling Ship Anchor Dock Nautical Galv. Brass
Up for auction today is vintage nautical lantern. Different people call these types by such names as; buoy. Piling, master head, anchor, or dock lantern/ light. I am not sure of the proper name or use for this lantern. Can you inform me? It measures 17 ½” tall. The bottom is 8” in diameter, the top is 7 ½” in diameter, the lens is 4 ¾” tall(the exposed portion) and the lens is approx 5” in diameter. The lens is a dark ruby red and I see no cracks or chips. The body is galvanized metal with the rings. Latching hardware and the top ring of bottom portion being made of brass. There is a makers mark on the inside but some is missing and I cannot tell by what I can read who the maker is. Do you know? I assume that it was battery operated but there is no battery or wiring that is visible. I did not take the top portion apart and ... moredo not know if there is a bulb inside. Vintage 50's, 60's ? BGE Life- Buoy Light man overboard beacon made in Australia
Up for auction is a vintage lighted life buoy that has never been used in its original box. It attached by rope to a life preserver and hung upside down on the side of a ship and if a man fell overboard the buoy would be tossed out with the life preserver and the light on the buoy would illuminate. Making it easier to spot the person overboard and also make it easier for the person overboard to find the preserver. I believe it is from the 50's or 60's. It was made in Australia and is made of steel and brass, painted a grayish-green color. Its about 20" long by about 6" wide at its widest section. It might even be military surplus.not sure. The glass lense on top is in perfect condition. I have not tested to see if it works and have no idea what batteries it would take. The word"rare" is so overused on eBay that I hesitate to use it even when it's a good bet that it's true. I was given this Life-Light 8 years ago and wasn't sure exactly what it was or how it was used. After many hours over several days of hard searching with no results. I eased up but continued an ongoing causal search since that time. Not saying there hasn't been any here but I haven't seen one besides mine for 8 years. And never had seen one until then. Then after 8 years. I not only saw another one but had all my questions about this light answered. So at the risk of futhering the"this is Rare" legacy. I will take that chance and call this Life Light a"Rare" opportunity to own one. BGE Life-Light Buoy This is a rescue device for a"man overboard" made in Australia during the post ... moreWWII years. This vintage lighted life buoy was attached by rope to a life preserver and hung upside down on the side of a ship. Mounting rim edge measures 5.25" dia. Appears to be marked S-4072-L. No other maker name appears that I can see. The only mark is a small chip found on an edge near the bottom. Unique clear lens Buoy Light with inner Red/Green sleeve and auto bulb switcher
This is the only one of this type that we have had. It features a plastic red/green inner lens(180 deg each) and has an automatic bulb switcher with four bulbs(all working) When a bulb blows the mechanism automatically rotates a fresh bulb to the top position. This unit also has the a light sensor so that the light will automatically come on at dusk. The red/green sleeve can be easily removed with two screws if you wish to simply have a clear lens light and likewise the sensor can be disconnected should you prefer a switched arrangement. The clear lens was manufactured by KOPP Glass of Pittsburgh. Pennsylvania and the buoy is approximately 23” tall and 12” wide at the widest point. The lens is 8 ¾” outside diameter x 7 ½” inside diameter x 7” high and features 7"ribs" above and below the main centre beveled band. The lens ... moreis smooth on the inside. The buoy light is ruggedly built from aluminum. Stainless steel, and bronze to handle the harsh marine environment. It should last a lifetime. The electronic switch unit is in like new condition. Large Copper Brass Channel Buoy Marker- Navigation Running Light Port-Red Masthead. Good condition for its age. One top latch that holds the cover on needs to be fixed. It broke off and the the cage that protects the clear glass, has come apart at one place on the bottom.Can easily be repaired and used if needed, makes a great display piece and will work when wired and weatherproofed. It's not perfect but its old.Some repair needed. The name plate-maker plate was on the top but its not there anymore.It appears to have Chinese Japanese writing on the red lens and top.the lens has a crack as pictured but has not come apart. The clear glass has no cracks. Measures 9 inches high and 11 in across. About as high and wider then a paint can. Rare. Please see pictures.

Automatic lamp changer for Brass Buoy Nautical navigation marker Light house
DESCRIPTION FOR AUCTION: This is a very unusual find. It is an original automatic lamp changer that would go in an old brass buoy lamp light navigation marker or light house light. I have a brass marker lamp listed this week and this is a second mechanism. It has a wheel of sockets that holds 4 bulbs. As one burns out. The mechanism rotates and lights the next bulb. I can't find the manufacturer name on it. There are just some serial numbers. The mechanism measures about 5 inches across the base and about 6 inches to the top of a bulb. There are currently 3 bulbs in this one. It is a 110 volt mechanism. I attached it to a 12volt power supply. The lamps didn't light but the mechanism rotated when a bulb was removed. Buoy Lamp/Light Metal and Glass with Bell Nautical Maritime
Nice old Nautical Buoy Light/Lamp. It is 9" tall and 4" wide. A pull chain is the On/Off switch. A brass bell sits on top and rings as the boat sways. The glass globe is frosted white and has no cracks that I can see. The cord is pretty old and the cloth is frayed in one spot. There are many scuffs and areas where there is paint loss. The whole piece needs to be cleaned. The light works fine when turned on. Please see pictures for a better description of condition. Great piece for the boating enthusiast or collector. Antique 1950's USCG 200mm Lovell BU-48 Buoy Lantern /Light 12v DC All Original
A wonderful find for the nautical collector. This is a 200mm Lovell BU-48 04-8 buoy lantern used by the USCG. It is electrically operated and requires 12 volt DC from either batteries or solar power. This is original and has not been converted for home use. Inside there are 4 small light bulbs which rotate for identifying the location I suppose. These lanterns were used from the 1940's to about the 1970's. The lantern is missing one of the secure down clamps. A nut that I am pointing out with my finger and there are some small chips on the edges of some of the glass ridges. Inside there seems to be a wiring diagram attached so that you could check out of the wiring. It also needs a complete dismantle, cleaning and painting. I have left it in the original state in the event this is the way you want it or that you might want to restore ... moreit. It will need Liquid Wrench, TLC and lots of labor of love. Rare. Chinese or Japanese marking on top lid. Red lens insert and on white Fresnel glass. Red insert has a crack but will not fall apart. Solidly enclosed in brass rings. Clear Fresnel lens has no cracks or chips. Can be made waterproof. Has a hinge issue, one fell off but I have it. Mounting hole at bottom to run electric wire. Old Hawaii Maritime Large Harbor Dock Buoy Red Light Beacon Lantern
Aloha. I have a very large dock buoy light. It is made out of heavy duty plastic material. Weight is about 6 1/2 pounds and with the packing material and box that should add on about 2 1/2 pounds. The plastic lens is heavy duty and made to withstand severe weather. The switch that was initially there was never used because the unit was hard wired. The wires were old and I had to go inside and reconnect them. I hooked it up to my truck battery and the light went on and the motor clicked forward but I am sure it needs more power than a regular car battery. THe housing is some type of composite plastic material. Very well made. I got it from someone who said it was from Hawaii but I am not sure what part of Honolulu Harbor. So I have this light working greenish blue harbor dock light for sale AS IS.
