Large, Converted to Electrified Lamp, Used Up for auction is this vintage solid galvanized metal nautical Ship Anchor Lantern that had a light fixture installed to convert to a lamp(in my opinion. Should be removed) The classic anchor lamp used on sailing ships for hundreds of years. The anchor lamp is machined in pure heavy-gauge steel sheet. The Fresnel style lens is made to magnify the oil lamp light to be visible for 20 nautical miles. The tops to the main body and the vent top are both hinged. Thus the top swings open for access and ease of cleaning. This all metal(except the frilled vent top, which is galvanized copper) is galvanized and shows its age. THIS IS NOT A REPRODUCTION. You are bidding on this nice Vintage Marine Lantern that has been converted into a hanging outdoor light. Possibly Triplex but no marking. Appears to be brass, I have not polished or scratch tested. The electric cord needs to be replaced. No cracks or chips in the lens, no dents and cage is complete and intact. Bottom is open for light. There are a couple of paint drips on it, see photos. Converted Antique Marine Lamp Cargo Lantern Brass Viking Ships Steampunk
Antique Viking Cargo Lantern Converted to AC 110-120 v with Edison Bulb Just finished my latest conversion using an old Viking mast lantern using antique and vintage electrical parts. This is a larger Viking lamp. Measuring approx 14-1/2" from the base to the top not including the wire hangers. If the hangers are included it is about 21" Thought the original old lamp was too small for the conversion so I did not use it. Instead I used an antique porcelain fitting with a brass top from a part from an antique Aladdin oil lamp. These were joined by a friction fit and further cementing with high heat silicon which does not show. The on/off switch is also old. 1940 or older is my guess. All the wiring is new reproduction cloth covered twisted pair wire. The bulb, which is included, is a 60 watts. 8 filement reproduction Edison type bulb. ... moreThe lit bulb in my pictures doesn't show up well due to the brightness. It is quite beautiful to see when lit. At the end of the cord is an antique 2 prong vintage plug. likely 20's or 30's. This lamp was made to hang from a hook or wall bracket. Perhaps in a corner, over a period piece of furniture or in an alcove. Have put on extra wire that the buyer can trim to fit the space. The switch hangs free and was intended to hang conveniently down a wall for easy reach. This could be removed if the light were to be used with a wall switch or dimmer. The repro Edison bulb is included and is brand new but we do not guarantee them. They seem to be a bit more fragile regular bulbs. My experience is that they last longer if put on a dimmer and turned down about 10% We pack well and have shipped world wide since 1998. This is a Vintage Perko Ships' Lantern lamp manufactured by the"Perko Perkins Marine Lamp& HDWE Corp. of Boston. Mass. It has a clear Fresnel glass lens that is in very good condition. It has a 4 position on/off switch which allows for either the top, bottom or both lights to be lit. They are in working condition. The shade features a very nice lighthouse and harbor scene. The shade does however show its age and is fragile. The wiring is working, but probably should be replaced for safety's sake. Please examine the photos carefully. Up for auction is an original George Carpenter& Co Solid Brass Nautical Lantern With Glass Working. This is an original early 1900's Nautical Lantern. Originally this lamp was probably carried on the deck of a ship as it has a handle for carrying. It was also probably an oil lamp converted to electric at a later date. The lamp works perfectly well with the socket. Has a nice warm glow that radiates from behind the glass. It is approximately 10 inches tall and about 4" inches wide. The brass still has its original aged patina and has not been cleaned. It may have also at one time had a bottom piece that held oil. The glass itself has a few chips in it and a crack but most assuredly isn't going to break in the near future as it's extremely thick.
