Brass oil lantern manufactured in the early 1900's for use in finer staterooms. It is an absolutely beautiful antique in great condition. There are two small cracks(you can see them in the last two pictures) around the base of the lantern. Most likely caused by age. Also I had a hard time screwing together the lantern and the piece that connects to the wall. I think it could be easily replaced with another bolt. And it might even go together if it is forced. I was trying to be careful when I was putting it together. See the third to last picture to know the piece I am talking about. This lamp was manufactured by C. Gray Ship Chandlers Established 1882 Arbroyath. Scotland. You can ... moresee that information on the brass nameplate(see picture above) This lamp used to belong to my aunt’s great uncle and he bought it many many years ago in San Francisco. The lamp is very heavy! The burners are original with a double wick. The knobs are stamped"Duplex Made in England" It appears to be original and in working condition. The wick knobs turn. I have not attempted to put fuel in the lamp or light it. Because I do not know how and I do not want to mess it up! The lamps have not been polished because I wanted to keep it in its current condition and I liked the way they look! The clear glass chimney is in perfect condition. As you can see in the picture the green shade does not fit around the holder(it fits there just fine. But it does not go to the edge of the metal rim) so I do not know if it is just made that way or this is not the original shade. Either way it looks beautiful. I just want to make sure you can see that in the picture and you are given the best description possible! Made in England for the colony of Newfoundland and used I believe on the coastal boats that delivered goods and services around the coast of Newfoundland before the present roads were built. As you can see from the pictures this was a working light used to light the compass on the sailing boats. The brass is very worn. The handle which is brass with an insert are skewed and have been like this since I acquired them and I would guess its from heavy usage in all kinds of weather The lantern is all original with original doors and clasps and glass. It also has the original oil burner with ceramic ... morewick holder. The wick turner is very stiff and probably needs oil. The burner is signed and trademarked Barton's(England) 9 3/4” from base to top of handle the base is not square but rather a circle with a flat front measuring approx 2 7/8 from front to back and 3 2/8 from side to side. It is 10 1/2" over all the the wall/boat mount area is a circle that is 6" across the center. It is very heavy at 6 pounds without packageing materials/box. It is in 3 pieces. The case that screws in over the light globe. The glass globe which also screws in and the back that the globe and case both screw into. The glass globe reads in raised glass"P C. Overall this is 10 1/2" and the glass globe. Case and brass lamp do not show any damage. It is a wall mount and the round wall mount area is 6" across the center. The elder estate seller(100 miles north of NYC) said his Uncle lived in Brooklyn NY and owned a tug boat decades ago and this is from the old tug boat. It is very heavy weighing 6 pounds without packageing and box. It was very hard to read but the globe has letters and numbers that look like"9S4971-L" but not positive of the numbers as they are in lightly raised glass. The brasss cage or basket area has no breaks and it reads numbers that look like"24CGH" or something like that is raised brass. The date is also stamped on the chimney but cannot be read. Fully functional. Heavy gauge brass with copper rivets lantern complete with all its original parts. Used aboard a ship as a bulkhead, cabin, wardroom lamp/ lantern. Bulpitt and Sons LTD is imprinted on both the chimney and Bulpitt on the oil tank. Manufactured by famed English maker. Bulpitt and Sons, Birmingham, England. This is an extraordinary and rare item in excellent condition. The lantern measures 16" at the tallest chimney point and 20" with the wooden handle extended. 8" wide at the back, 5" deep. Weighs amost 11 lbs. The back is flat and boasts a huge brass clip ... morewith copper rivets for sturdy mounting. The front is three-sided with glass windows which are all intact, with no cracks or chips. The original brass burner is also in excellent condition with a wick, not sure it is the original. The stamp on the burner clasp reads Bulpitt. A brass reflector wall is behind the burner. The burner looks as though never used and slides out easily through the glass door on the right. There is also a slide on the side of the door that moves to expose an opening without having to open the door. The chimney top opens and the entire top is hinged to flip back allowing access to the chimney. It even still has the solid brass knob on the front lower corner. There are a few small dents consistent with its age. But it does not detract from the overall beauty of this gorgeous piece of British seafaring history. This would make a great piece to add to any maritime nautical collection.

This auction is for one very heavy Solid Brass Ship Light With A Glass Dome. It is an explosive proof light but it does not currently have any rubber seals in it. It is 8 1/2" tall. 6 3/4" deep and 4 1/2" wide. It weighs over 5 lbs. It has a receptacle that is designed to accept a twist-lock type bulb. I suppose it could be retrofitted for a different type of bulb. It has a brass cage that unscrews and a glass dome. The only markings on it is 60 W. It has part of a wire protruding from one side. RARE! Large 1800's CANDLE Power Ship Navigation Lantern, Solid Brass high polish
Here is an absolutely stunning and very rare example of an early. Solid brass, candle powered ship's navigation lantern. Though one in this price range isn't for everyone, it is for the serious collector. Circa late 1800's to very early 1900's. This style of lantern was also often used as a Lighthouse Keepers Stairwell or Passageway Light. As it was made by the famous lighthouse Fresnel Makers- Barbier Benard& Turenne of Paris, it seems only fitting. The lantern has a plate on the front of it's lighthouse style body, that names this maker. It is made of highly polished solid brass. And is 7.5" wide, 16.5" w/o bales extended and 26" with bales extended. It is a fairly large lantern. It is fitted with the original lens, which in made of red glass shaped to look like a lighthouse and made of high quality ... moreglass. The globe is in excellent condition showing no chips or cracks. As for the inner workings of the lantern. As the candle burns a brass spring slowly pushes it up in order to keep the flame at a constant level. A candle is included. This item is a marvelous solid brass/copper studs/glass lens"ANCHOR" electrified ships lantern. It is a heavyweight.Well detailed, and realistic replica of an antique anchor light typical of those used on 19th century wooden sailing ships. It measures 14 inches high by 7 inches in diameter. Lamp appears to have professionally wired, and is equipped with a porcelain bulb socket for illumination as a table/wall light. Piece is in the nice original condition in which it was found in the attic of a local estate showing a nice original patina, and would prove to compliment any nautical/coastal cottage décor. 2 vintage ship lights. I was told by the person I bought them from that they came off a ship from the 70's that was dismantled. One of the lights has a piece broken off on the ceramic portion(see photo) I would imagine the light would still work. ANTIQUE SOLID BRASS SHIP'S PERKO LANTERN PERKINS MARINE LAMP & HARDWARE CORP.
This listing is for a large solid brass ship's lantern marked"PERKINS MARINE LAMP& HDWE CORP. It measures approximately 14-3/4" tall(excluding handle) and has a base diameter of 7-1/8" The lantern has been painted black over the brass which shows through in several places(see photos) The lantern is an estate find and we do not know if the paint is original. The high quality of the paint job prompts us to wonder. The glass globe has no cracks in it and the original tank plug is present. The glass is marked Perko 31-L-17A. The oil burner is missing. The lantern takes an oil burner with a 1-3/16 ID thread. There are some minor dings and dents in the lantern as well as a small split in the cap where it joins with the glass globe(see photos) There are no repairs and the split does not affect the integrity of the cap. Ship Lantern Solid Brass Anchor NOS
Offered here is a Nautical Ship Lantern Marked: ANCHOR on brass tag. This entire lantern is solid brass with some of the frame tarnished& copper in color"looking" I am unsure of the type of brass? Has a red color tarnish to it and this lantern could be polished out really nicely to a consistent gold color if desired. No manufacture dates; patent dates; or any other markings found other than the word Anchor. This lantern has never been lit. And is NOS. I took a large powerful magnet to all parts, and the only time the magnet stuck was on the widest part of the burner frame; the other parts of the burner are"brass" and non-magnetic. A couple of very small dents in the frame is all the flaws worth mentioning. Everything turns; rotates; operates as it was as new! This lantern stands 13-7/8" tall exactly and is 7-5/8" ... moreat it's widest diameter with the bottom of the frame measuring 6-5/8" exactly. The distance between gimballed bail handle eye loops is 19-1/2" while hanging. The upper gimballed handle allows the user to open the entire top ventilator to remove the fuel pot while hanging& remaining attached. This lantern weighs 6.22 lbs on scale"without fuel& having the inside glass chimney" It is missing the inside glass chimney that would measure 1-1/4" across outside bottom diameter& would stand 4-1/2" tall approximately. The clear Fresnel globe is in perfect shape having air bubbles& cast lines and swirls; has smooth surface inside& refractory surface outside& measures: 5-5/16" in diameter across outside top& bottom& 4-3/4" tall overall. It is non removable& this lantern appears to be a fixed globe type. This item fairly clean other than dust on the inside& ready to use or display in a nautical collection! Cord is about 3 ft long. 5 holes on top for hanger which is now plastic zip ties that could be replaced with something nicer.
