This lantern was made by Anchor and was given to me by and old man and friend he's 95 years old and can really use the money he told me he once sailed around the world in his younger days and used these four lanterns that are up for auction. His boat was named The Abigail. The lantern measures 20 inches high and with the handle up it measures 23 inches high and 11 inches wide and weights about 20lbs. She owned and operated the Seven Seas Gift Shop from the mid 50's until the late 90's. The base was lost years ago. Copper Based Nautical Oil Lamp Insert with Glass Hurricane For sale is a Copper Based Nautical Oil Lamp Insert with Glass Hurricane and Burner. This great find comes from those days of wooden ships and pirateers. Copper base lamp is 11" tall and 4.5 x 3.25 x 2.25" approximately and was used on ships becasue copper doesn't rust. This lamp probably had a holder of some sort on a wall or table that held it in place. Lamp has a small"D" ring holder for carrying. Lamps of this age most burned grease or inexpensive oils. The burner does have rust but can be cleaned. It does remove easily. Glass hurricane is in excellent condition. There is a little lime spot on the base but can be cleaned away. This is the original patina. I have not cleaned this except to remove a bit of dust. Please examine the photos carefully. Here is a brass oil lamp is marked but is written in German I think please see photos.the The lamp looks to be in very good condition. It may be off of a ship or train. It has a bracket to mount it to a bulkhead or a wall that is with it. Just mount the bracket to the bulkhead or wall and the lamp just slides into the bracket so it can removed to refuel the light. This piece was purchased at an estate sale of a collector. I don't know much about it except that it is vintage from the 1960s-70s. I was told that it is extremely rare to see a Bakboord piece designed as an electric table lamp. The condition is excellent for its age. With the only noticable wear being on the wooden base. See photos for details. The lamp has three possible settings, 1-off, 2-just bottom part is lit(red glass) 3-both top and bottom are lit. The height of the entire lamp is 26.
