On a recent visit to the Seattle area I was fortunate enough to acquire a few Maritime Estate Items. The original owner was a Naval engineer and owned several very interesting pieces from area. He worked on a number of ships and wartime vessels docked in the Puget Sound. The fixture appears to be cast iron or very heavy brass. The unit measures 10" by 5.25" and weighs nearly 8 lbs. Benjamin Engine Room Ship Light With On/Off Switch Nautical Brass All Original
Vintage Benjamin light. Most likely from a submarine engine room. This light features a heavy brass junction box(4 1/2" attached below the main light. Also comes with 2 fixing tabs for attaching to wall or ceiling. The original socket lampholder& switch(Bryant BECO F-8428) in very good condition. This light also comes with an on/off switch, something you rarely see with these type of lights. Overall 9 inches tall. I've rewired this for a typical lamp plug(8ft) One of the few references I can find for this light/socket is from the San Francisco Maritime Park Association where they are doing a restoration of the World War II Balao class Fleet submarine USS Pampanito(SS-383)

This unique little light was made sometime between the late 1920s up untill the early 1940s when the company moved out of San Francisco.Unsure of exact application and have been told it could be for everything from a Trolley Car to a Military Airplane since the company did get involved in WW2.Being brass my first thought is possibly a Maritime item off a ship.It is a very well built piece and you can see it is missing the three tiny screws that would that would secure the top to the base.The glass lens has no maker marks and has a chip on the inside lip that is only noticeable when totally removed.A possible rare find to who knows what.Pictures are accurate on condition.Thanks.

Here we have a very large ship or boat lamp or lantern marked"Anchor" This estate found lantern is made from solid brass which has been lacquered. Although the lacquer is crazing from age. It still displays very nicely. The center cap in the top flips up and it also opens at the base of the top as well. There is an oil lamp inside that does have the wick. In the center there is a very thick ribbed glass lens that has no cracks. There is a brass anchor hook on the top and the bottom. No dents, nice vintage condition. Very large, the lamp itself measures an impressive 18 1/2" tall not including the anchor hooks at the top and bottom. Diameter is about 9 3/4" This sizable lamp displays nicely. Here is a brass oil lamp is marked but is written in German I think please see photos.the The lamp looks to be in very good condition. It may be off of a ship or train. It has a bracket to mount it to a bulkhead or a wall that is with it. Just mount the bracket to the bulkhead or wall and the lamp just slides into the bracket so it can removed to refuel the light. Very nice lantern. Measures 19" tall from base to top and roughly 22" from base to top of handle when it is up. Thick glass on this one. It is a very nice vintage piece. I currently just have a light hanging in it(I will include this light) as not to mess with the integrity of the lantern. You could make the electrification permanent or bring it back to oil.
