Brass was originally used on ships and that changed largely during the 70's where more and more cruise liners and ocean liners started using aluminum. The construction on these salvaged lights is excellent and last for years and years under all weather conditions and that why they are perfect for beach homes and can be used both indoor and outdoor. To open the lights the 3 screws that are attached on would have to be opened. When we salavge these lights we strip off the old wiring and paint and polish it to regain it former luster and glory. A small threading is then put on these lights so that it can wired to use easily any regular socket will fit right on it. We also replace or repair old parts that are damaged or broken. Antique 1950's USCG 200mm Lovell BU-48 Buoy Lantern /Light 12v DC All Original
A wonderful find for the nautical collector. This is a 200mm Lovell BU-48 04-8 buoy lantern used by the USCG. It is electrically operated and requires 12 volt DC from either batteries or solar power. This is original and has not been converted for home use. Inside there are 4 small light bulbs which rotate for identifying the location I suppose. These lanterns were used from the 1940's to about the 1970's. The lantern is missing one of the secure down clamps. A nut that I am pointing out with my finger and there are some small chips on the edges of some of the glass ridges. Inside there seems to be a wiring diagram attached so that you could check out of the wiring. It also needs a complete dismantle, cleaning and painting. I have left it in the original state in the event this is the way you want it or that you might want to restore ... moreit. It will need Liquid Wrench, TLC and lots of labor of love. Antique Adlake Non Sweating Lantern Box Style 1 Way Signal Lamp(still not sure if this item is for Railroad or Boating industry) maybe someone out there can give me some data. Red Pyrex Glass appears to be in excellent shape still. From what I'm learning these unique lanterns were used by river lamplighter to mark the shoals on a Big River or Lake. But I haven't been able to verify this yet. I stumbled upon this at a thrift store today and have spent a bunch of time just trying to figure out what I have here. lol It is VERY heavy and appears to be made out of Black Wrought Iron. It also appears that all the parts are intact. There is a little kerosene container inside and the wick is still in the canister. Very cool and Large lantern. 16" inches tall x 9" inches wide x 9" inches deep.

Flood light by major equipment co. The bottom base is broke see photos, this is untested, just pulled out of a 1833 barn, this week. Could be nautical, theatre, idk. The glass has the name of major equipment co. And I believe Corning. There is a lot of writing on the base, hard to read, because it is backwards, printed from the inside. The glass has no cracks. But does have black specs, probably on the inside of glass. The metal part has nicks. Scratches and a few dents in the back. The front side( light) is approx 13" wide. Large 15" Tall Antique Ship Nautical Maritime LANTERN Light PERKO? Restore Parts
Offered for sale is this old antique Maritime Ship Lantern for restoration or parts. I do not know who the maker was but it has a strong resemblance to some of the Perko Lamps that I am seeing on Ebay. It stands just under 15" tall. 7 1/2" wide and 7" deep. The ribbed glass is in good overall condition showing no cracks but could use a good cleaning. The original kerosene burner and font is missing and the lamp has been converted to electricity, but it does need to be re-wired as the wiring is old. This is a great candidate for restoration or to be used as parts. The bottom panel is hinged but is missing the slide rod to keep it closed which should be an easy fix. It is a rather heavy lantern weighing just over 6 pounds. I believe this light was originally a navigation light because to the treaded connector where the plug wire comes out. I believe it used to have a pole attached. The glass is cracked directly down the middle but the glass is not shattered. Light could be plugged into wall or restored to direct wiring as a sconce or perfect for your stem punt light project. The lantern comes AS IS and as shown. It is literally a barn find! It was found in an old barn in Dover FL. that the wife and I picked with the permission of the owners. This piece is rusty and old and we call that rusty gold. The red glass lens is CRACKED IN HALF and CHIPED as shown. There are chips inside from the lens. This would make a grate decorator or shelf piece. I am not sure the exact usage this had when new but I believe it to possibly be a buoy marker light or the light off of a large ship. There is no electrical parts in side. There is a mounting bracket on the bottom and there is conduit to allow wiring up the ... morecenter. It is 11" tall. 10" deep and 8" wide with a rusty steel case. The cracked lens will be taped with painters tape to insure no further damage occurs in shipping.
