This is a vintage copper oil lamp filler by Sternau& Co. From the early 1900s. This was also used to fill the burners under the old Sternau coffee makers and chafing dishes. It stands about 4.25" from the base to the top of the center finial, 5.75" from the base to the top of the spout, is 4-1/8" in diameter at the center of the rounded container. This has the original patina and I decided to leave it that way rather than polish it, as some people prefer this aged copper appearance. I'm not sure if this is solid copper or plated, but for sure the handle and the little bridge between the container and the spout is copper plated, as what appears to be brass shows through on this area. This has a swirly handle and a long, thin, curvy spout that has a tip cover that is attached by a chain. At the upper end of the handle is a round knob-like pump that can be pushed in and out and seems to have a nice spring action. The finial cover unscrews at the top of the oil can. There is patina over all of the surface and some verdigris and darker patches that can be seen in the photos. There is one ding in the surface of the body on the right center area when the spout is pointing toward the left as in the first photo. The base of the oil can is stamped with the Sternau& Co logo(S&Co) surrounded by a circle with the words Trade Mark and Patented around the logo. Someone had scratched in the initials MA on the bottom of the oil can near the logo. Please see photos to best determine condition and feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions! Vintage Copper PERKO Nautical Ship Lantern Electrical Marine Light Gulf Oil
This 16 1/4" tall electric lantern with an all original patina and toggle switch is from the estate of Howard Craven. He was a ship captain for the Gulf Oil Company until he retired in the early 1950's. When he then took up painting ships with oil on canvas. His father was also a ship captain, so I'm not sure which one used this lantern. It is all copper than I can see. It would be beautiful polished up, but I chose to leave it as is for those of you that would prefer it in it's original condition. It has what looks like original inner parts, wires, etc. see pictures) I have not tested to see if it works. I prefer not to challenge things like this since I know nothing of how they work. Pat. 1890 Tarnished Brass Marine Oil Lamp Lantern Light, much rarer than Perko
Beautiful darkly tarnished 10" tall brass marine lantern with no stress cracks. See 360 degree images. Heavy glass globe is damage free and has 3/4" dimple cast in it as some sort of focusing device{see image with flame} Spring clips that retain the oil font have 1890 patent dates on them. Good working burner uniquely flips up for refilling. Bottom of font is dented and has a large solder repair on in but does not leak and rest correctly in lantern base. Beautiful display piece or rare design with a great patina. Quite heavy.

Vintage Marine Ship Navigation Light Nautical Maritime Lantern Clear Boat WW II
My husband is organizing his shop and parting with quite a few items. Here is one of those items and his description of it: Maybe a good Christmas gift for the nautical collector in your life? Vintage marine ship’s iron navigation light. 180 degree clear glass Fresnel lens Navy? WWII? I picked this up at an estate sale and planned to use it as yard lighting. Turned out it did not fit the landscape plan. This is a large ships navigation light. Either for the stern(showing white two points abaft of the beam, starboard and port) or masthead light(forward, showing two points abaft of beam, both starboard and port) This shows a bit of light surface rust in spots. The result of years at sea. There is no internal mounting or wiring for a bulb, but that could be easily designed and installed. The gasket around the hinged lid is missing, but could ... morebe replaced with some type of weather-stripping. There are two small chips in the Fresnel lens, as shown in the photo. These should not affect the durability of the lens. You can see the imperfections in the lens from the glass casting process, as sign of its age. This stands 11 ½ inches tall. 8 inches in diameter(across) 9 inches across the top latch and hinge. The Fresnel lens is full width and 7 inches high. The base is round with“bayonet” mounting slots and is 5 ¾ inches outside and 5 3/16 inch inside diameter. The lid is held closed by a hinge on one side and thumb bolt on the other. The lid swings open freely. This is how I found it, I only cleaned the lens to confirm no other damage. I put a light inside it to show what it looks like illuminated for the pictures. The light does not come with this piece of marine hardware. As many ships navigation lights are made of brass or bronze. I can’t help to wonder if this was from a WWII ship, a time when these metals were in short supply and needed for munitions manufacture for the war effort. This lantern is mounted on a solid wood base and comes with original paper shade that is covered with a nautical collage theme. Think it was wall paper glued to shade. Does need some regluing. This listing is for a Rare and Unusual Early Brass Binnacle Lamp or Lantern. This old Nautical Lantern is about 10" tall x 5" wide. It features a curved glass lens. An interior reflector, two handles attached to a latched and hinged access door, all brass construction with soldered joints and wind proof exhaust. I have the most unique item up for auction~due to its size. I believe it to be a Salesmans Sample~and a Lighthouse Lantern shape~I find no makers identification on it. What amazes me, is that it is all there~even the original little Edison lightbul, the crsyytal glass glove, and a brass mesh insert~ The base unscrews, from just below the open part~the cord is in need of replacement. All in all, a wonderful item for the collector. ~feels like a heavy gauged brass, I don't want to clean it, as I prefer to let the future owner make that decision. You are bidding on a Vintage Galvanized Metal Triplex“Side Lights” Navigation Lantern from the early 1900’s. Ready for your restoration is a lantern marked- TRIPLEX centered between the words TRADE MARK PAT’D 1910 LENSE Dec. 20 OTHER PATS PEN. It is missing the oil burner. The glass goes ½ ways around and the lenses center is chipped on the top 4 ribs. The bottom is rusty and has a rust hole. Electrical wires for a light has been pushed through and wired to a socket and works- It is not permanent and can be easily removed and not recommended to be used as it is not up to code. I believe the ID plaque and Top are brass. It measures 10” tall not counting the ring and 5” across the back. Please examine the pictures and ask questions.

Vintage Japanese Brass/Copper Ship Lantern 1949
This is a very large(22" high x 9" Diameter) what I believe is a Japanese Ship Lantern. It has a plate riveted to it that has the Japanese description on it. I can't understand any of it except the date 1949. It is made of copper& brass. The oil reservoir is connected by 2 hinged bolts and drops out the bottom for easy filling. Handles on the top& bottom can swing out as desired. With the bottom handle. It looks like these lanterns can be stacked. It does have a couple small dents(I think easily fixed) but it is a very solid unit. Would be very sweet lantern when restored. No glass. An antique dealer informed me that based on the design. Quality, and materials used, it was likely built in the 1940’s by the prolific Perkins Marine Lamp& Hardware Corp based in Brooklyn. It measures 7½” tall(with the bale down) x 7” wide x 6” deep and weighs 3 pounds. The brass has been polished and clear coated. While the galvanized tin has been painted dark green and antiqued. Included are the original electric lighting fixture and oil font. The Perko Company information is engraved or embossed in the face of the brass burner adjusting knob. The green(turned blue) ribbed door glass lens appears to be original and in near perfect condition. Perko’s trade mark tag ... moreis still affixed to the mounting bracket and is legible. Large Antique Nautical Lantern Vintage 5-way Green Ship Lamp Port& Starboard Used- Antique Nautical Lantern This lantern has some discoloration around glass and on seams. Pictures reflect a bent spot along one of the upper seams. Approximate size is 14.5" tall including carry handle by 9" wide. This lantern has NOT been converted to an electrical light. I have included the lighted pictures so you can see the brilliance of the green glass. Glass does not have any cracks or major scratches in them. The glass does not have any marks in the glass, other than what appears to be consistent with how glass was made during that time. I do not know the exact age of this lantern. However it is the only one I have seen with 5 semi-globe sections. I was going to convert this Kerosene/oil lamp into a lighted lamp and clean it up for my nautical ... morethemed room, but never got around to it. I now am moving and liquidating some of my stuff. I did pay quit a bit for this lamp due to its unusualness and size, however I am willing to take any reasonable offers. This would be a great old kerosene o conversion lantern to put in a parlor, back porch, sitting room or make great lighting for movie night. I prefer the green over your normal red port lights because it is a little softer and not as aggressive in nature depending on your usage or if you decide to use it for a child's night lantern for sleeping. Welcome! Up for auction are a scarce PAIR of Wilcox and Crittenden Port and Starboard Lanterns. They are electrical. However I do not know if they work. They are very nice vintage shape. One flaw is that the starboard(green) lantern is missing it's closing pin and they could use a good cleaning. They stand approximately 8.5" TALL. We are pleased to offer this RARE.ORIGINAL& SMALL circa 1920 PERKINS"YANKEE ENGINEERS" brass nautical kerosene lantern. These"DEAD FLAME" lanterns are known as being made by the PERKINS MARINE LAMP CORPORATION of New York. These lanterns were made between the years 1916 and 1930. The"YANKEE ENGINEERS" model was sold either in a galvanized steel or a brass frame. The option of marked Perkins colored globe was also available. This lantern is made of brass and is unmarked. Other than its threaded burner, which is marked DIETZ/ CONVEX. The lantern's top and base are hinged and the unmarked clear globe measures 4 1/4' tall by 2 1/2' in diameter. Overall the lantern measures ... more8' tall(not including the bailed handle) with 4' base diameter. CONDITION: The lantern is 100% ORIGINAL as is the globe! It is very heavy and made of thick bronze and brass. It runs on 110v and takes a standard bulb. The bulb is not included. We left all of the original patina on it but it would polish up to a mirror finish. We were told they used these in navy battleship pilothouses but we don't know for sure. Here is a real show stopper for you! Offered for sale is an original. Antique, solid brass CANDLE BLACK OUT ANCHOR Lantern made by Bulpitt& Sons of Birmingham, England. This candle, black out lantern is extremely rare, and almost never found for sale. It is from the late 1800's and is complete with it's original heavy glass globe, which is in perfect condition, showing no cracks or chips. The lantern likewise shows no signs of rust or cracks. This lantern would polish up easily and make a stunning show piece! It is 14" tall with out the top and bottom bales being extended. It is 9.5" across and weighs 17 pounds. Which shows you just how heavy of ... morebrass this is. As the photo's show the lower skirt slides up to hide the candle flame. As for the inner workings of the lantern, as the candle burns a brass spring slowly pushes it up to keep the candle flame burning at a constant level. To show you just how large this lantern really is. I've included a photo at the end that compares it to a one gallon jug.
