Large ANTIQUE Double Stacked SHIPS LIGHT Clear Lens BRASS Nautical Lantern Lamp
Please read my listing thoroughly and view all my PHOTOS before bidding: Here is a large antique brass double stacked ships light with handle and clear lenses. Measures about 16" high(including the handle) x 6" wide. Weight is 8 pounds. To help give an idea of scale. In the photos I put the light next to a regular size coffee cup. There are no markings on this light that I can find. There has been no cleaning or restoration done to this light, it has quite a bit of tarnish and natural patina. There is a small dent on the top but no other dents. One of the support braces has come loose(see photo#11) The wiring is ancient and not useable. One of the lenses has a crack that runs about a third of the way up the lens(see photo#12)there are no other cracks and no chips on either of the lenses. Helvic’s Combination Bow Nautical Lantern(1865-1880) Offered for sale is one of the first D-Lite nautical lanterns ever made in the USA. And it saw little to no service and is in near perfect condition. H.A.H. Helvic& Co. of Brooklyn New York produced this lantern utilizing galvanized drawn sheet metal. Which allowed for mass production of items such as this lamp. Prior to the civil war galvanized steel was imported from England. But the first US manufacturing of galvanized sheet started during the civil war. Blue light to starboard. Red to port, the lenses are in great condition with no cracks. This lantern started a century of production from many makers and it has all the features that were later improved upon: The access door is in the rear. Which meant the entire lantern had to be dismounted, and then it took more than two hands ... moreto remove and light the burner, then reinsert and remount. Later models opted for a bottom insertion of burner that could be done with one hand and not have to dismount the lantern. The Fresnel lenses are too thin and cracked with pounding seas. This is a ships candle lantern made by"Eli Griffiths& Son" of Birmingham England. When I bought it. I was told that this particular model was made between 1940 and 1949. I see 2 other lanterns by the same maker on ebay right now at $185. $322. Niether of them is at all the same style as this one, so it's not much of a comafrison. The top is hinged, and the hing works nicly. The latch also works well, and holds closed as it's suposed to when caried by the handle. The 5 glass pannels are all in good condition with no cracks. The floor inside is well coated with wax from use. There are vent holes in the bottom, and it is also vented at the top. There is a slit in the side of the cup that the candle sits in to allow the wax to run out. This makes so you can burn a candle all the way doen to nothing. I have made a small wooden ... morecollar so you can use a canxdle that is smaller in diamiter than what it was made for if you like. This is not a light weight lantern. It weighs just over 5 LBs. Facial damage consists of chipping on outer edge of ribbing, back-side edges and corners show usage chipping, mostly flea-bite size. manufacturing air bubbles The chipping is shallow(is not missing large chunks of glass) with only 2 spots being dime size and the remainder being various pea sizes and smaller. While it simply needs an experts touch. This item has been in storage near Mobile Bay, Alabama and previously belonged to my grandfather who worked at and retired from the shipyard in the early 1970's. The finds are sporadic at times, and not grouped or labelled. This lens sat alone wrapped in paper and reinforced with cloth electrical tape that had stiffened and lost its sticky. VERY RARE! French Barbier & Benard Turenne BBT Lighthouse Brass Ship Lantern
Up for auction is a very rare French Barbier Benard& Turenne Candle Powered Brass Lighthouse/Ships Navigational Lantern- Circa Very Early 1900's! These are very rare and hard to find. Only 4 have been listed on ebay during the past 7 years. This type/style of lantern was also often used as a Lighthouse Keeper's Stairwell/Passageway Light& was made by the very famous lighthouse'Fresnel' lens makers Barbier Benard& Turenne of Paris& clearly marked as such on it's front badge. This is the only Barbier Benard& Turenne lantern I have seen with rope wrapped handle. The lantern appears to have been restored some time ago. The internal screws that hold the bottom half to the glass globe guards are replacement screws. The glass globe is damaged, and I do not believe it was the original glass globe. VERY RARE ANTIQUE JAPANESE NIPPON SENTO NAUTICAL SHIP BRASS LANTERN SIGNAL LAMP
For sale is an Antique Japanese Nippon Sento Co. Ltd. Ships Brass Oil Signal Lamp Lantern. This is a very rare lantern I have never seen another one like it listed on Ebay. The lamp is in excellent condition as evident by the photos. It has a very nice patina on the outside and looks great as is. Or can easily be polished for a brilliant shine. The lamp has a wooden handle, and on the left side of the lamp is a thumb toggle switch that opens and closes an aperture behind the lens that allows the light to have the appearance of turning on and off. I'm no expert, but I believe the lamp was designed for semaphore which is a method of using light to visually communicate with another ship, or from ship to shore, and vice a versa. The toggle switch works smoothly, and the door opens and closes freely. Please closely review all of the photos ... morefor the material condition of the lamp. The lamp has the original oil/kerosene pot, but it is missing the glass chimney and possibly a reflector that may have fit in the small rectangular slot at the end of the pot. A replacement glass chimney can be easily found online. The lantern measures approximately 20" inches from the top of the handle to the base, and it is approximately 10 1/2" inches wide. No dings-dents or holes.no holes in oil reservour. I think it will light and hold oil. More then likely it will need a new wick. Measures 12" X 6" at the base.

This is a vintage heavy brass lantern with a wood handle. Don't know much about this as to what type of lantern it is. It appears that this was possibly converted at one time to an electric lamp or was always an electric lamp made to resemble a lantern. The front has a working hinged opening that lools like it held a glass lense at one time. An attached brass plate on the front shows a picture of a ship or riverboat and the name"LOUISIANE" underneath this ship. Rare Vintage Ethan Allen Nautical Lantern Lamp
A rare vintage Ethan Allen featured nautical lamp. The beautiful lantern lamp has a flickering bulb in the lantern. And a 3 way light switch, which controls both the lamp and the lantern. On each side of the lantern is a railing with belaying pins, giving this lamp an authentic nautical look. The base of the lamp is 14" in length. 9.5" in width, and 2" in depth. The lamp stands 31" to the top of the harp where the shade sets. The shade measures 12" in diameter on top, 14" on the bottom, and is 12" in height. The wood on the lamp may have some scuffs marks or nicks, but it appears to be in great condition for it's age. This beautiful nautical lamp will definitely fit in with any decor.

NAUTICAL RED EMERGENCY SHIP LANTERN COPPER AND BRASS TABLE LAMP
Thank you for viewing this auction for is one. 1) brass and copper ship lamp converted to a table lamp. This is an old oil lamp that I believe served as a emergency light due to the red lens it has which shine 360 degrees. There are two thick heavy glass lenses on this light. The clear lens is the amplifying lens, and the inside lens is for giving the light the red color. This light is constructed of primarily copper and brass. There are also some iron components to this light, this includes the lens protectors and the two hanging brackets. The hanging brackets are used to not only hang the light vertically, but also to stabilize it from moving left to right, and front to back. There is no lamp inside of this lantern, it does no light up internally. This ship lantern appears to have been converted a long time ago; I believe at the very earliest ... moreit was made into a table lamp in the 1940’s. This is an older piece and I am unsure of the age. I am also unsure of a maker for this lamp for there are no maker marks I have been able to identify. Telling from its construction. There is a good chance this lantern is from a 19 th century ship. The condition of this lamp is old. There are multiple dents on this lantern. And appears to have been used heavily. This lamp no longer has its original oil burner, it was most likely discarded when it was converted to a table lamp. The mounting clips are still in place for accepting an oil burner. The red lens and clear reflector are intact with no cracks. The lamp is built to flex, so it does move and flex; the structure of the lamp is still sound. The lamp does work, and lights. I would suggest changing the cord if it is still desired to use as a table lamp; the cord is older, and the plug is not polarized. The copper and brass does have extensive corrosion and staining on it. Also there are a lot of dings and dents throughout. Antique Navigational Wilcox & Crittenden Port & Starboard Oil Lantern Pair
For Sale is a very nice set of 2 original oil burning nautical. Maritime Navigational Lanterns.The main housing is constructed of galvanized iron and the top cover is copper. However they have not been shined up. The original manufacturer was Wilcox& Crittenden& Co. There trademark was Capital W with a Capital C embossed on top of one another. The factory was in Middletown, CONN. USA. There is a photo of the Logo which appears to be embossed on brass, it is on the side, located on top of a metal sleeve, which is riveted on the lantern itself. This sleeve must have been used to slip over something to hold it secure to the ship. Both sleeves are intact and extremely secure. This embossing is very difficult to capture in a photo as the glare, and clarity of a photo so close. The lanterns stand just shy of 13" tall with the hanging ... moreloop standing up. They are made to fit in a corner. The sides measure 5" With the front curving around to meet the 2 sides. The glass itself is 5" tall and is almost 90 degrees. One lantern has fresnel green glass for the starboard, and the lantern with the fresnel red glass is for the port. The glass on both lanterns is in very good shape and have no cracks or chips. The metal round accesses to the oil chambers/wicks are both present and appear tight when screwed in. The wick chambers need cleaning, but seem to work, and even have wick left in them! We didn't attempt to light them, but knowing something about oil lanterns, don't see any reason they wouldn't work, however this isn't a guarantee. just presenting things honestly. The metal. Nowhere, on either lantern shows any sign of rust. However they are a brown color. Paint appears to be old, in some places chipping, or peeling off. There are the usual signs of true usage. Wear and tear. Overall appear to be in very good shape. I have not checked them for leakage, however on inspection, I don't see any reason they would leak. I have no idea how old they are. Vintage/Antique Ship's Brass Collectible Large Nautical working Lantern
Here is a Brass Boat Lantern Nautical. Vintage, Brass, Working, Large heavy duty. There is no name on it but the glass has VIM on it. The glass is special because it is thick glass and this is made so it is a much brighter light so you can much further away that regular glass. It weights approx. 6 3/4 lbs. by its self. Measures approx. 18" Tall( out handle it is about 14" tall) x 6 3/4" D. You unscrew the screw on top to open, lift the tank out by the lifter handles, unscrew wick, fill tank, screw wick back in place, put tanker back in place by the lifter handles and you are ready to go. Most of the time the lifter handles are missing. Only thing I see wrong not bad is a very small chip in glass(see last picture) Insurance will be required. Questions are welcomed. Here is a brass oil lamp marked made in England as it the burner it looks to be in very good condition. It may be off of a ship or train. It has a bracket to mount it to a bulkhead or a wall that is with it. Just mount the bracket to the bulkhead or wall and the lamp just slides into the bracket so it can removed to refuel the light. Brass and Glass Antique Oil Lantern British Captain's Chief 1935 Fully Functions
This is one remarkable piece of history. It works too! This brass Captain's lantern for a ship was made in 1935. We have been assured this is the real deal. It has the oil lamp piece that comes out so you can maintain it then right back for those long trips on the sea. This is called the Chief light from Great Britain. It is a great size about 1 foot 3-4 inches high(guessing- it's not in front of me) Very sturdy with the strength bars all around and the glass is all good. This was very well maintained. The latch has been worn off so it closes with a wire loop. This is one I'd love to keep but business is business. With everything so dependant on electricity it would be a great idea to have some back up light that is proven and will last a while. Wish you the best.

Up for auction is a neat old Handlan No 57 lantern. Marked"Prop City San Diego" along the bottom. It is in good condition with signs of wear consistent with age and use such as rust and patina. Antique 1893 Royal B and H Railroad Bronze Brass Oil Lamp Lantern 120 YRS OLD
Up for sale is an Antique Bronze Royal Lantern. It is also marked B& H on the fill cap. Which I assume is for the Railroad. There isn't a globe with this. Nor handles, but it does have several early 1890's Pat. No on the cap and around the rim. It is in good condition with some green corrosion around the bottom and small dents in the body. It has scratches and other usage marks. But I don't see any cracks or holes. The coil springs on the inside need to be reset when a new wick is put in place. It is empty and untested. Nice working Carrington Barometer Lamp Made in England- Ships Wheel. Lantern and Wood Block Pulley in good condition, working and you can see in photos. The cord was spliced and a new one was attached, I acquired the lamp in this condition, will leave it up to the buyer to either rewire or leave as is, the lamp will work with the cord left this way. Vintage, Perko, Perkins Marine Lamp& Hardware Corp, genuine lamp/lantern for boat/deck.I am not an expert when it comes to this piece and am unsure where this went if on a boat or deck or elsewhere. Only know some info I found during some research. I do believe it is made of galvanized steel and features two lens/glass one is red and other is blue/green. Has a brass embossed clip on the back and has a removable brass opener on the bottom to add the lighting. Measures approx. 4 1/4"H x 4 1/2"W x 3 1/4"D. Condition is good with some wear on the steel, a tiny chip on the red glass/lens and needs some cleaning on the lens. Also includes a Perko light component with a 15W, 125V bulb(unsure if it is functioning) and the wires. Perko is marked on the component. Weighs approx. a little over a 1lb.
