Here is a brass oil lamp is marked but is written in German I think please see photos.the The lamp looks to be in very good condition. It may be off of a ship or train. It has a bracket to mount it to a bulkhead or a wall that is with it. Just mount the bracket to the bulkhead or wall and the lamp just slides into the bracket so it can removed to refuel the light. This piece was purchased at an estate sale of a collector. I don't know much about it except that it is vintage from the 1960s-70s. I was told that it is extremely rare to see a Bakboord piece designed as an electric table lamp. The condition is excellent for its age. With the only noticable wear being on the wooden base. This kerosene lamp stands 23" tall to the top of the handle. The top is 5 1/8" in diameter and top is marked Arlington Dressel NJ USA. Around the top are words Mohawk Lamp New York State Canals. The lamp has been painted red at some point. I think it was originally silver. The lens is a clear fresnal 7 3/4" diameter and it does have some chips in the glass. This type of lens is used to focus beams for a long distance. The base tank is 11 1/2" in diameter x 3" deep and the wick is in it and goes up and down. The weight unpacked is 23 pounds. Very heavy. Okay. It need polishing. On the other hand it's an extremely rare piece. It's a buoy. And it's gimbaled. So it's always upright even when your ship(or bedroom) is rolling left and right, front and back. Stands on a table or mounts to the wall. It's makes a great gift for a sailor. Or a young aspiring sailor. Use bedside. On your desk or on a table. Very elegant. I've never been able to find another like it. Purchase it. Shine it up, enjoy it. No shade included, it uses the type where two hoops hold it onto the bulb. BTW. The little balls on the gimbal unscrew to make it easy to polish, I'm just too lazy right now because I've just moved house.
