The cord is 10 feet long and in decent shape, but is a little stiff from age. As shown in the photos, the cap flips open to access the bulb.

This would be an excellent project for a restoration, or just a very cool nautically themed piece to have around the house. I will be selling the second of these lanterns in a separate auction with similar details. The only difference between this one and the other is that this one has a piece of curved metal around the glass over the burner on the inside, and the glass cover is shorter. This auction is for an antique boat lantern. On the top it says. Trade Mark Triplex, Lens Pat Dec. 20, Pat’d 1910, other pats. Pend. On the back it says. Patented April 1 st. 1913. It has a red(port) lens and a green(starboard) lens. Maybe the green is really blue. In between is a removable brass screen. It is 7.5” tall. The top has 2 holes on opposite sides. It must have had a handle. The burner is missing. There is nothing in the bottom. You would be able to electrify it easily. There 2 dents on the red side above the glass. According to eBay policy. Sitting in front of a window it looks like the light is turned on.Very heavy with the brass construction. A small tag is on the top of it with the name of the company, and the top also has a serial number on it. This is probably a marine lamp, originally made of copper and brass and painted black on the outside. This has a heavy glass Fresnel lens that goes all the way around the source of light inside, which is currently an electrical light bulb, which we believe was a later addition to this piece. The electrical cord has been cut and tied in a knot, so it would need to be rewired, or you can easily remove the socket. The swing handle is made of heavy wrought iron. This lantern, which stands approx. 11.25" tall and 7.5" in diameter, has been put to work in its past, and shows scars of close encounters with various dings and bends. This would be a great candidate for cleaning and restoration, but we couldn't find any other examples of this particular lamp, so we are calling this rare. Good Luck! I'd imagine they are fairly bulletproof simple things that should work, perhaps needing a bit of maintenance. They could use a good polishing. The lamp measures 18 tall to the top of the handle, and 10 inches deep to the back of the handle. Also he said he has not seen one on Ebay for the last 4 years. I cannot find another one of these on the internet or Ebay. Perfect mint condition. but missing wire handle. This item is 9 inches tall and 4 inches wide. My understanding of this rare piece was to take it aloft and place on mast during anchor at night. Offered here is a LARGE Vintage cast bronze brass marine light that has a stunning heavy red glass Fresnel lens. Sitting this in front of a window it looks like the light is turned on- This piece is Very heavy with the brass construction- embossed 9-S-4461-L on top. There is some patina and light scratches on cast bronze brass housing-looking down into center of lens glass. Part of the electrical cord remains inside- This piece sits on a wood blog base with the cord that enters the bottom of lantern and runs thru the center of wood block base that measures 9" x 9 1/2" This Fresnel lantern light overall height is 7 1/2" sitting on wood block and weighs more than 13 lbs. This red glass lantern has Fresnel lens all-round lantern with protective brass bars and bronze screw on top. Good vintage condition; no dents in the brass and ... moreonly a couple small sliver chips on a couple of louvers of red fresnel glass; The brass lid is a bit tight for me to screw on and off using a wrench. This piece was made to use as a table light- with outlet cord and plug that looks older. Plugs in fine and needs a bulb- but I could not open top with bolts- my hands were not strong enough to turn wrench. It likely needs a small bulb and would work fine. Up for sale is a nice old WWII 1940's WEDGE brass railroad& railway train signal Lantern/a light RR regiment cargo signal lantern/ four sided brass cage type of lantern with 4 sided glass/ lantern has raised brass grating that surrounds& protects the outside of the lanterns glass/ top rounded brass smoke stack hood with a top brass& wooden handle/ lantern has a slide out removable kerosene oil fill tank with an adjustable wick/ name on oil tank reads WEDGE/ old coil spring type latch on door/ solid brass wirer grating type that covers& protects its glass well/ lantern is in very good shape overall& in very good working condition/ overal a really well made solid hand held lantern. Overall condition of lantern: NO DAMAGE/ Old brass lantern with old age brass patina along with some very minor issues of some oxidation ... morespots on it in a few small areas such as under its top hood located just around its top smoke stake area and a small little bit also around its top handle mounts. Overall its a pretty clean brass lantern/ Also I think these light oxidation areas will clean off nicely with a small tiny brass wirer brush or some very fine steel wool/ I left lantern alone and as is over the years with its old ageing patina/ the old wick turns up& down nicely/ The inside of this old lantern looks to be pretty clean and it does not appear to have much aging. Overall this old lantern looks to be very well made and very well kept over the years. Lantern has hardly NO visible lead solder on it only just a little bit around its door hinges and oil tank ring handle all welds on it are factory done/ Also the lantern looks to be mostly bolted together with little small brass factory screws and little brass nuts: such as bolted on its brass& wooden handle and its bolted on brass smoke stack hood covering and it has bolted on brass wire grating also. Constructed of all cast brass. These is a vintage light that we recovered from the Great Lakes Region. This light has four mount holes, two on each end of the light. You will need a mounting surface no smaller than 2 1/2 X 9 1/2 inches. To access the bulb, you spin free the two wing nuts and the cage and glass come off as one piece. We have installed a new bulb holder and wiring this light that is UL-Listed and made by Westinghouse Electric. The bulb holder takes a normal screw in house bulb of 50 watts or less. Vintage Pair of Nautical Cylone Lamps Brass
Up for auction is a beautifully restored pair of Brass Cyclone Lamps with Amber glass. I could not find the maker of these lamps other than they are marked"Made in New Jersey" on the front. They are electrified and work perfectly. I found them in an antique shop completely tarnished and dirty. I had them professionally cleaned and polished several years ago and had them mounted above my fireplace mantle. They look spectacular when lit. I recently moved and don't have a place for them.
