VTG Norwell Mfg Co 12.5" Solid Brass Wall Lantern --- Translucent Seeded Glass
This beautiful solid brass wall lantern was manufactured by“Norwell Mfg. Co. INC” and is listed as an electric fixture by the“Underwriters Laboratories, Inc” This information is included on a yellow sticker still attached to the back side of the lantern. I am not sure when this lantern was manufactured. It has a nautical theme…there is a ship’s steering wheel on the top front. With a brass nameplate inscribe with the name“Flying Eagle” I have 4 more of these lanterns, which I haven’t cleaned up yet, that are identical to this one, except for the name. Each lantern has a different name. I think that maybe these lanterns decorated a restaurant or perhaps a yacht or nautical vessel at one time. Very solid and sound, weighing about 2.5 pounds. It is wired for electricity, but I have not tested it. There is a brass candle holder attached to the inside of the lantern(it is screwed on, and can be removed) that has a burned out bulb that looks like a flicker candle bulb. The bulb is marked“ABCO” Japan” 120V” And is very heavy. The lantern stands about 12.5” tall to the top of the fixed handle. Three sides of the lantern have thick. Translucent seeded glass, which give a beautiful glow when a candle is burning inside. I kept one of these lanterns for myself to use as a candle patio light) Each side panel is about 4.25” wide, with attractive brass dividers that give the lantern a paned look. Unlike many of these lanterns this one still has the original Perko lamp inside as shown in pictures. The sliding hatch mechanism still works on this piece. It was used as a display piece in the house and they had a screw in the base of the signal to hold the sliding hatch open. This auction is for a very nice vintage brass nautical/maritime table lamp. The lamp has a 3 way lamp switch for dimmer or brighter light. There is an interior lamp light that provides a light glow through the glass globe. The glass globe is marked with GGG. The lantern has a nice brass finish and a boat rope that is wrapped around the wooden base. The lamp is marked Ankerlicht. The lamp comes with a burlap style shade. The bottom base is lined in felt. VINTAGE BRASS CAGE for Caged Deck/Ships Light from retired Staten Island Ferry
For those with the nostalgia of the old days and New York City here is a piece of it- from one of the Staten Island Ferry boats that was dismantled for scrap near St. George. They were selling items before sending the rest to the smelter. I purchase one of the deck lights with the large metal enameled shades and the lamp inside a glass enclosure. To protect the glass there was a brass cage over the glass. This light hung in our Vermont driveway for over 20 years and worked just fine through storm and snow. Then one of the trees used to support the suspension cable came down in a storm. Bent e shade and broke th glass but the cage remained without an added scratch. That's all that's left of it now and it is time for someone else to have it fotw a show piece. It's brass and the mounting is threaded. The electrical box was a weatherproof ... more4 inch with a socket and two threaded openings, one for the glass and one for the cage. Vintage nautical Ship sconces lights Maritime Heavy Glass Brass Rare Beautiful
A very rare and beautiful pair of brass ship nautical Wall sconces. They could have been originally oil lights and converted to electric but I have no idea. They are made of heavy brass roughly 8lbs each with heavy steel bases. They are roughly 15 1/2" straightened up. The base or wall mount is 5 1/2" round as the same as the heavy glass bowl beneath the light. They are both are made to move which ever position you desire sideways. Up, down, etc. Just loosen the bolt and retighten. There is one bolt missing and there was another replaced. They are in exceptional condition with no breaks or repairs. As you can see in my picture the wall mount bases there is a slight discoloration which is very hard to see. The glass is very thick and it looks like one is a shade darker than the other and possibly one is greenish and the other is ... morereddish or darker green. They are both the same shape as also the lamps. They are identical. Don't know if because of the light over the years made one a bit darker than the other. Very hard to find these nautical sconces. Vintage brass bronze boat quadrant pulley ship anchor
Not quite sure what this is but it is well made. I believe it is a boat quadrant but I could be wrong. I believe it is made of bronze or something like it. It is not steel. You could see some very shiny areas poking through so I believe this would shine up nicely. It is about 11" x 11" There was also a bronze key attached with it but not quite sure what it is for. If I needed one of these I would seriously want this one. It is a beauty. It weighs just over 6 lbs. I really wanted to shine this up but I didnt. If it doesn't sell its going to sparkle! Antique 1800s Nautical Post Lantern Lighthouse Lamp Ship Mast Anchor Light Brass
Description: This is a large antique"birdcage" type oil lantern that was made between 1860 and 1890. It has a period Fresnel lens globe that is in good condition with a bit of chipping around the rim. But no cracks or structural damage. These brass lamps were re-produced by Perkins Marine Lamp Corporation but this one is an original 1800s light as shown by the beautifully decorated hanging ring at the top, careful handmade construction, etc. This one is also extra special in that it has the post fittings for use in a light house- it is missing the brass plate which would have marked it as such, but you can see where it used to be attached. These antique nautical lamps were used extensively for anchor lights, and after its life in a lighthouse it may have been used at the top of the mast during heavy fog or in the night to keep other ... moreships from running into the boat. It is missing the burner and bottom plate- it may have been wired for electric after the use of whale oil lamps declined, but please note that only what is in the pictures is included. This is a large nautical lantern measuring 14" tall and 6" wide. It is in"as found" condition with a dark patina on the brass, dirty glass, small dents, tiny cracks in the brass, and various other age/use related marks. This is a pretty amazing find. This ANTIQUE BRASS CANDLE LAMP HER MAJESTY’S ADMIRALTY SERVICE is believed to be from the early 1900’s or possibly even from the late 1800’s. There are plenty of pics to help you understand this item. The emblem soldered on the front says“ H M ADMIRALTY SERVICE. The bulbous bottom part unscrews to reveal a large spring. That is removed. A candle is inserted, and the spring& bottom are re-installed to continuously place upward pressure on the candle. That way, as the candle burns down it is continuously being pushed up. There is an old looking candle stub still in the top in the normal use position, we left it in place. You will notice a permanently attached bracket for hanging on a cabin wall or bulkhead on a ship. The candle lamp has a great old brass patina. You will notice solder at various places. Some ... moreappears to be from the original making of the lamp and a couple might be repairs or just sloppiness by the maker. None of the brass looks like it has been damaged. The lantern is in amazing shape for it’s age. The bottom is flat enough that the lantern can be used sitting on desk, table, or counter. There apparently was once a glass chimney but we never saw it. I would imagine the new owner could find one to fit if desired. We have never seen another one of these in 20 plus years of buying& marketing antiques& collectibles. The other lantern has an upper and lower chamber with clear lenses with light sockets installed in both chambers as well and this one according to its name plate is the Stern light. You can use these inside as lamps or outside as lamps since they are airtight. They are over just 18 inches tall and almost 10 inches wide. Everything on these two unique and extremely rare lanterns are operatable. Every screw and bolt does what it should. The white stuff you see in the pictures is, I'm guessing is someone at one time, tried to use brass cleaner and did a bad job. I would personally leave them the way they are, but if you want to clean them up, they should shine like the sun. In order to use them. Brass Masthead Electric Lantern 14" Nautical Decor Lamp
This heavy and solid brass Masthead lantern is well suited for the boat house. Houseboat, lake house or beach condo. It would look great on the back deck or patio or the perfect complement to any nautical themed room. I found this at an Estate Sale and it was in pitiful shape. Covered in layers of dust and spilled paint and it was heavily tarnished. I have no idea how old it is but judging by the condition in which I found it, I would venture to guess that it is at least several decades old. I completely disassembled and spent over eight hours hand polishing it completely and thoroughly. Every nook and cranny. It is immaculate. I could hardly believe how well it turned out. I converted it to an electric lantern with a 12' cord with an inline switch. If you don't like the light bulb look you can easily remove the light socket and replace ... moreit with a candle or you can buy the lantern oil canister and wick and use it as an oil burning lamp. I think the electric is much cleaner. It is pictured illuminated with a 40W bulb. The silvered brass reflector really puts out the light, this would be best used with a dimmer switch or maybe even a 25W bulb. It is an impressive 14" tall without the handle and 6" wide. Heavy duty cast brass mounting hardware on the back. There are three very small pits in the finish in one small area. As seen in the close up picture. This was purchased in 1960s/ 70s in Colonial Williamsburg and is candle based. The lantern measures 11" tall/12 1/2" with handle standing. The base is 4" square and the outside guards take the width to 5 1/2" It is in great vintage condition; the brass has some wonderful patina and minor marks. While it was purchased at Colonial Williamsburg. This listing is for a vintage brass gimbal lamp with milk glass shade. It's marked: Pascall Atkey& Son Cowes. The lamp measures 8.5" to the top of the socket. 5.25" across the shade ring, 3.75" across the bottom of the base, and about 10.75" to the top of the shade. The shade is 3.25" high, 5" across the bottom and 3.5" across the top. No cracks or chips in the glass. The lamp has been tested, and it does work. The switch is in the cord, and the lamp uses a Christmas tree size bulb. The brass needs polishing. Overall, very nice condition. The lamp is heavy, 5lbs before packing. Living on the Coast of Maine. I often find myself in the oddest of places. This week I had the pleasure of picking an old boat house on one of the islands that make up the town of Harpswell. The estate was in the process of being cleaned out, and the call was received: would you be interested in some of my late father's tools and gear" Of course was my response, and a designated time was agreed upon. Amongst the"stuff" in the boat house, I found this early red paint finish on brass hand held boat spotlight. It was designed to operate from a ship's instrument panel, and the women selling the"stuff" remembered it coming off her dad's Chris-craft.Wish she still had the boat! The light is in it's original finish, and the wiring appears to be intact. The lens is intact and appears that the element is complete ... moreand it should work. He couldn't remember now long ago but he said'decades' I looks on eBay for information and found it was made by Russell& Stoll Co. It is 10 1/2" over all the the wall/boat mount area is a circle that is 6" across the center. It is very heavy at 6 pounds without packageing materials/box. It is in 3 pieces. The case that screws in over the light globe. The glass globe which also screws in and the back that the globe and case both screw into. The glass globe reads in raised glass"P C. CO. and also has a number too that reads"9-S-4971-L" and the globe has no broken glass at all. It is thick and domed. For this reason I would say it is one of the earliest Models of the design. The glass is blue with no chips. The lantern itself has some very minor dings in one area and one minor dent. It was then passed on to a family friend who placed it in storage. It is being offered for sale at this time. It stands 24 inches tall by 13 inches at the widest point. The 4 base mounting holes are spaced 9 to 9 and 1/2 inches square. If you were ambitious you could polish it up. I plugged it in and if functions perfectly. It weighs about 110 lbs.
