The lamps are large and measure 14 1/2" tall and have a diameter of 7" These solid brass ship lanterns at one point were electrified however no permanent damage was done during the electrifying process and the added sockets can be easily removed bringing them back for their original purpose. If you intend to use them with electricity then a new cord will be required as the cords were cut during removal. Neither has the interior oil lamp and I have been told that just about any small metal wide bottom oil lamp can be used. Both lanterns have their original thick heavy clear lens and these are in excellent condition. They also retain their bottom lenses(shown in images) Both tops are hinged with their original thumb screw and have their original bail handle. The brass is in very good condition with no damage. This is a nice tall(almost 21" vintage brass candle holder light for a ship or boat. It has a loop at the top to hang by. And a brass slide to secure the glass candle cover, so it won't fall off if the ship sways. Another fixed brass ring holds the bottom of the glass over the candle and then there is the weighted base. It is a sturdy lamp light and it looks GREAT! I could not find a makers mark on it, but then again, my eyes are not so good anymore. maybe you can find one. I have had several local Antique Dealers take a look at this because I was unsure where it came from or what it was used for and I got two main responses. First is that it was used on a railway train lantern or train bridge signal light. They other response I got was that it was a ship's signal light or used for navigation through fog. It is very heavy weight just over 18lbs itself. It measures 8" X 8" and is 11" high. This is a great find from a local Estate I cleaned out. The man was an avid collector. Antique Brass and Metal Ship Table Candle Holders With Swinging Action
These two antique ship table lamps are so wonderful. They really have seen a lot of use. They sat on a table on the ship and held candles. The swinging action kept the candles upright when the ship went through the waves. They could be hung up and still accomplish the job. They are very primitive and one is rustier than the other I purchased them for our home in Florida. I believe this to be a vintage ship/nautical/maritime oil lantern in good condition. Made of copper, brass and a amber/yellowish tinted globe shaped glass w/ no cracks or chips. The lantern measures 11"H x 7.5"W and has a small removable oil lantern that enters the lantern through a small hole in the base of the lantern. I left the metal the way I found this piece and only cleaned up the glass globe. I do not see any reason why this lantern would not function properly. Each light has a makers tag attached to the front of the base. Both lights look to be pretty complete with oil burner and chimneys still there. Sorry no wall mounting brackets. I am not sure if the wicks are still in them. The knob that raises and lowers the wick is very hard to turn on both lanterns. I think the wick mechanism needs to be cleaned. There is a very minor amount of corrosion on the tops of the bases. Each lantern measures about 18" tall to the top of the handle. Base measures about 7" across. This interesting old lamp is most likely from the early part of the 20th Century. Perhaps before. It looks as though this piece has all its necessary components including a key, at one the end of the original chain, in order to control light(it moves the wick up and down) Even the wick looks like it would most likely work with a bit of fuel. Circa 1940 Ceiling Light, Nautical Design Glass Globe, Brass Ship Wheel Canopy
Circa 1940 ceiling light with nautical theme. The glass globe has raised decorations around the side- sailing ships. Anchors, and a lighthouse; the bottom of the globe has a 16-point compass rose. The figural brass canopy is a ship's wheel. This fixture is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks in the glass globe; the brass canopy shows some tarnish and wear consistent with age and use. This fixture is rewired with new phenolic sockets and wire leads. There is the original Harmony House decal on the inside of the canopy. Vintage Brass Wilcox Crittenden Conn Ship Boat Light Lantern Lamp Blue & Green
I do not know how old this lantern is. I think that it is old enough to be considered vintage or possibly antique. The oval plate on the back of it reads. Wilcox, Crittenden& Co. Inc. Middletown, Conn. U.S.A. It appears to be brass. Most of the photos make the metal look redder than it actually is. The photos where the metal looks like it has a very slight greenish tint are closer to representing the actual color. I have provided a photo of the bottom being held up to a light to show how it might look when illuminated. Not including the ring at the top. It measures about 9 ½ inches high. The ring at the top adds about 1 3/4 inches. It weighs about 2 pounds 3.5 ounces. The divider is removable. The condition is much like you see it in the photos. The burner is missing. Otherwise. It is generally in excellent condition. There is a ... morerelatively even tarnish and a little green oxidation on the back that you can see in a photo. I have provided a close-up of a bend in the edge of the hole for the burner. I do not know if it should be there or not. A close-up shows a small shallow depression just below the seam on the chimney. I do not know if it was made that way or not. Otherwise, are no dents in the metal or breaks or cracks in the glass. The inside and a little of the outside of the glass could use some cleaning. It looks like there is some soot on the inside of the top part. Otherwise, it is fine and as shown. It stands about 19 inches tall. The base measures about 9 inches ac ross the bottom. I don't know who the maker is. There is a plate with the number 44190 on the front. Great Matching Pair of Old. Marine Ship's Lantern Lamps. These look like Brass.and they also look like Bronze.I can't be sure. I DO know that the Handles are Bronze. I am estimating that these probably date back to Late World War I or Early World War II and may well have been used on military vessels and/or Merchant marine vessels. They are Electric and have Rotating Shutters both on the body and in the bottoms of the lamps. In this way, the light could be closed off both from the sides and the bottoms as need be.kind of an early manual rheostat. These both Measure 8" Tall to the top of the Threaded, Screw-in Lid. The lid, itself measures 3 3/4" Diameter and has a 1 1/2" tall Wire Pass-through apparatus. To the top of the extended handle measures 12" The Base of the lantern measures 5 1/2" Diameter. Each of ... morethese Weigh a hefty 8 3/4 Lbs. Both lids have the Original Removable Light Bulb Sockets. Condition: Number THREE(see pics) is 100% Complete in that it has the little handle sticking off of the side of the rotating shutter for ease of opening and closing the shutter. Number ONE is missing that little handle. That's the only difference. The bottom slide on Number ONE is bent a bit but because it's made of very thin brass. It can EASSILY be pressed back into shape.I'll leave that up to the winning bidder along with re-wiring them. This is a great little item. I was told it is a ship's binnacle lamp. It is in very good used condition with normal aged discoloration and no denting that I can see. But without polishing it, it is difficult to tell. I ran my hand over it and did not feel any damage. I left the original patina as is because personally, I think that is part of it's charm. Made of brass and it has a wooden handle. Great little conversation piece. Looks great in a nautical setting. Stands approx. 10 inches high and about 4 inches wide. We recovered this light and soda blasted all the old paint off followed by a hand polishing job! We have custom made the brass pipe and ceiling mounting plate to allow for easy installation on your project. The ceiling mounting plate is 5 3/4 inches wide with four screw holes. Each light has a total height of about 32 inches. The mounting pipe is about 12 inches long and the copper and brass housing is about 20 inches tall. We have installed new glass in the wide end of the light. The glass is 13 1/2 inches wide with the total wide end frame measuring more like 15 inches wide. SOLID BRASS HEAVY SHIP LIGHT WITH GLASS DOME EXPLOSION PROOF TYPE
This auction is for one very heavy Solid Brass Ship Light With A Glass Dome. It is an explosive proof light but it does not currently have any rubber seals in it. It is 8 1/2" tall. 6 3/4" deep and 4 1/2" wide. It weighs over 5 lbs. It has a receptacle that is designed to accept a twist-lock type bulb. I suppose it could be retrofitted for a different type of bulb. It has a brass cage that unscrews and a glass dome. The only markings on it is 60 W. It has part of a wire protruding from one side. From the top of the wall mount to the bottom of the cage it measures about 12 1/2 inches tall. When mounted to the wall it will extend out from the wall by 6 inches. The wall mount measures 3 3/4 inches wide. The glass globes are free of any cracks but may have minor flaking on the bottom edge that is inside the top light housing.
