The brass could use cleaning and polishing as there's a lot of patina to the brass. The thin strip around the top and bottom of the light have some small slits. Maybe for fitting the brass around the body of the light. The light is also adjustable to be able to aim the light. The half label on the back is a Perko label. Heavy and well made. It has a GE bulb and I was told it works. The wiring is frayed and you should definitely have it checked out or rewired if you're planning on using it as a light though. Here is something you don't see every day! For sale is a great old copper& brass lantern made by R.C. Murry& Co. Limited of Glasgow. England. It has all 3 of it's brass plaques, stating it's a Port lantern, who it's made by, and the patent numbers. The plaques have a beautiful flourish to them! It is identified as a Lamp-ads 924. The last photo shows you just how big this lantern really is, and it's BIG! It stands 25" with the handle up. 22" with it down, 15" across, and 14" deep. It was made for a Class 4 vessel, over 65' and weighs 18.5 lbs. It has a good Sherwood Burner, with both wheels working freely. The entire lantern is made up of copper. With the exception of the brass handle, plaques, flat back hanging bracket, and top lid. It has it's burner and reflector, both in good working ... morecondition. There are two small chips to the fresnel, both of which do not mar it's looks nor do anything to stop it's function. They are both exterior chips. The copper housing has one small ding at the bottom of the right hand corner of the fresnel. It is likely from the early 1930's. We acquired it along with a second lantern we were after at the time. It came from a Honolulu estate of an avid maritime collector. His main focus were for items from the RMS Queen Mary and the SS Normandie. His children said this lantern came from the Normandie. But they had no proof of that. However we did get a Letter of Provenance stating what I've said. don't know what that's worth though. Automatic lamp changer for Brass Buoy Nautical navigation marker Light house
DESCRIPTION FOR AUCTION: This is a very unusual find. It is an original automatic lamp changer that would go in an old brass buoy lamp light navigation marker or light house light. I have a brass marker lamp listed this week and this is a second mechanism. It has a wheel of sockets that holds 4 bulbs. As one burns out. The mechanism rotates and lights the next bulb. I can't find the manufacturer name on it. There are just some serial numbers. The mechanism measures about 5 inches across the base and about 6 inches to the top of a bulb. There are currently 3 bulbs in this one. It is a 110 volt mechanism. I attached it to a 12volt power supply. The lamps didn't light but the mechanism rotated when a bulb was removed. Who later became known as Frederick Perkins. He was a Russian immigrant who was schooled in Germany as a machinist and tool-and-die maker. Frederick came to the United States in the early 1890's and soon became employed as a machinist for E.W. Bliss& Company in Brooklyn, New York. In the early 1900's, he and a partner began operating a business, F. Persky& Company, Lantern Manufacturer, out of the basement of his house. In 1907. Frederick's son Louis joined him in the business, and together they enlarged both the product line ... moreand the manufacturing facilities. By 1912, they had seventeen employees and made a wide range of marine lanterns and products. The business continued operating until 1913 when Frederick became president of National Marine Lamp Company. Based out of Forestville, Connecticut. Antique Brass Ship's Oil Lantern. Looks like it was never used. Very nice condition; only one small dent in the wick assembly. And that can probably be pushed back from behind the guard very easily. There is no maker's mark or logo on the lamp. But there is an"RV" and an anchor on the wick turn knob. The glass chimney appears to be original to the lamp. Dimensions: 12 7/8" overall. 5 3/4" from back of mounting plate for the gimbal to the outside of the lamp. Chimney measures 6 7/8" in height and is 3 1/4" in diameter, the lamp body measures 7 1/2" tall and is 3 1/2" in diameter and 4 1/4" total width including the gimbal mounting pins that project 3/8" from either side of the lamp body. This auction is for an antique ships lantern with a makers label that reads R C Murray limited 37 Cavendish SI Glasgow. Which is in Scotland. This was a working lantern and has seen some use. It has been lovingly repaired and shows some tarnish. I have tried to show all this in the pictures. I have not attempted to clean it or change the batina. It stands 18" tall. It is missing one pane of glass which could be easily replaced. I have tried to research this lamp and have not found a similar light to compare. It is very heavy(16 pounds) It must be nautical since it is brass. I would love to know its origin before it is sold. So feel free to let me know even if you are not interested in it. The lens is in great condition(in the picture it appears to be chipped, but it is just an area where the dirt was removed when touched) there are no chips or flaws. It measures 6½” tall(with the bale down) x 5” wide x 4½” deep(add 3” for light divider) and weighs 2½ pounds. The lantern is all brass has been polished and clear coated. It is dented on back of lamp and missing one screw. it appears to be adjustable. I have not truly cleaned this item. The base is almost 4 1/2" in diameter and is stamped. S&J. This is STEELE& JOHNSON(boat,house) I'm not sure what year it was made(30's,40's? although it is from an old estate. the height is about 7" at that angle. I don't know if it could be wired? Vintage Large SEXTON Nautical Brass Wood Table Lamp Light
This auction is for a vintage large sexton nautical brass and wood table lamp light with rope shade. It measures approx. 37" to the top and the oak wooden crate box measures approx. 8" x 8" x 10" in size. The widest part of the lamp rope shade is approx. 18 1/2" across. This item is in used condition. The lamp is good with only minimal wear. The shade isn't in pristine condition. The inner plastic liner has a few cracks that you don't see unless you look down into the shade. Also around the top of the wire ring it looks like the adhesive or tape has worn off over the years.
