I cannot find any others to compare it to on ebay and there are no markings on the light other than on the socket inside the lamp and on the side as shown are the letters P&O. I am not sure if this was a gas type light or not. Although it has a socket where a bulb or something would have fit but on the side of the light it looks like a flint or sparker. The light will need the chrome trim cleaned.Sorry I am not much help here, please see the pictures and maybe someone out there can tell me more. The works are mounted on a nice piece of oak and there are exposed wires etc on the back. It appears the glass is missing however the clip holder to hold the glass guard in is in the metal hood. The metal hood is hinged and has holes to let the heat escape. The light measures 11" long x 5" wide and weighs unpackaged 3-1/2 pounds.At the top of the light is a knob that can be turned to control the brightness i am guessing. Hi folks. I'm back after an absence to auction more incredible, authentic items from parents' collections. These are items they've kept in storage- they were collectors of anything and everything old, unusual or beautiful starting their collections back in the 1950s. The past year has had me busy researching, inventorying and cataloging their items. Now I have the dubious task of selling some. For starters, I am not an expert in anything. I have some knowledge of some things, but sometimes I'm not exactly sure of what I have so feel free to contact me to either correct me or educate me. I believe in the"auction" process, so the starting bids on all my items are fairly low to encourage bidding. Here we have an absolutely magnificent antique ship's lantern. Or to be more specific, a Perkins Marine Lamp& Hardware ... moreCo. distress or signal lantern circa about 1915-1925. It is made of galvanized steel and brass- all galvanized steel except for a brass top and brass burner which were polished quite some time ago. The lantern shows old solder repairs. Has a little bit of surface rust here and there, but is otherwise really clean. The fitted burner seems to be very good condition. Is a Plume and Atwood and on the thumb wheel it reads"P&A Mfg Co, Waterbury. Conn. Made in U.S.A. Plume& Atwood made the burners for Perko and many other makers. This lantern has NOT been electrified. The clear globe is marked PERKINS 8 and while it has a little dust. It shows NO damage and is protected by 8 wire guards that are firmly in place(some have some surface rust) The base has two tie-down clips. Although he never used it. This had been hanging in my father's workshop many years ago and I just presumed it had been sold or lost until June when I discovered it had been packed away. The lantern measures about 14.5" tall without the loop standing up(about 16" tall with the loop up) Is about 9.5" wide looking down on it and measuring it wire guard to wire guard. The base measure

Antique PERKO Perkins Marine Lamp Boat Ship Lantern Hanging Light Red Lens
This is a great Perkins"PERKO" Marine lantern or bow light. The lantern is about 18" tall counting the handle. The lens is heavy red glass and can be seen from all sides(360 degrees) The lantern works off of oil or kerosene. The reservoir and wick are in tack and working. The Perkins metal tag is still in place(too dark to get into photo) There are some small nicks and I can see what looks like brass under the black paint. I believe the paint is original to the lantern. The lantern is heavy. Over 7 pounds. Lanterns like this were used on large ships as a warning light or bow light. Originally saved by my grandfather. This antique lantern was plucked out of storage in winter 2010. Features a red globe on the burner and clear outside lens. This lantern has a 6 1/2 x 6 inch handle. The lantern overall measures 19 inches tall by 7 inches wide and deep. It is marked with the word Elgin on the front and a stamp of No. 30. Made in the USA imprinted on the glass. Made by Sears during that period. Considering how much wear it has gone through the decades. This would be an awesome item for fans of maritime collectibles. We are offering a rare antique nautical lantern made by Eli Griffiths& Sons of Birmingham. England! This large all-weather lantern was likely made for maritime use in the late 19th or early 20th century and held a single large candle protected behind five removable panes of glass that each measure 3 1/2" x 8" It is an unusually large and durable design that is typical of use in industry. The lantern stands 13 1/2" in height(17 1/2" with the wooden handle raised) and 7 7/16" in diameter at the base. It weighs 4 lbs, 12 oz. The metal is copper in color but is magnetic and so most likely tin. The hinged lid with a lockable clasp opens and closes smoothly, and reveals the interior black paint to be in very good condition. The mount that holds the candle has a slit in the side that allows the excess wax to flow out, ... moreand the candle to be burned all the way down. HUGE ANTIQUE NAUTICAL SHIP ANCHOR LANTERN LIGHT MARITIME LAMP 25" TALL 18LBS
Up for auction is AN ORIGINAL VERY OLD vintage solid galvanized metal nautical Ship Anchor Lantern. The classic anchor lamp used on sailing ships for hundreds of years. The anchor lamp is machined in pure heavy-gauge steel sheet. The Fresnel style lens is made to magnify the oil lamp light to be visible for 20 nautical miles. The tops to the main body and the vent top are both hinged. Thus the top swings open for access and ease of cleaning. This all metal(except the frilled vent top, which is galvanized copper) is galvanized and shows its age. THIS IS NOT A REPRODUCTION. The anchor lamp is named for its use. A 360o white light is required to be displayed at the highest point( the tallest mast) on all vessels at anchor or under way at night. Antique ship nautical boat electric lamp light. Brass bronze coppper? Oakford
Up for auction to U.S. customers only is an old ship's light with Fresnel glass(no chips or cracks to glass) It stands 15 inches tall and the wire cage is 8 inches across. I am not sure if the primary metal is brass. Copper or bronze- or a combination-but a magnet doesn't stick to it. It is very heavy. It is made by Oakford. There is a light bulb socket inside but it probably isn't original and, without the cord plug, I can't test it. If it was originally electric powered, then the wire outlet on the side looks like it held a much larger power cord. The lid screws onto the top for access to the inside. I'm not sure how it was used on board the vessel- some other listings refer to it as a mast light, others describe it for use on dock pilings, others say it lit the passageways on the ship. If anyone knows for sure, let ... moreme know and I'll add it to the listing. Overall it seems in very good condition with a few relatively minor scratches to the lower finish and, of course, the green discoloration which some people call patina and want it left on the piece so I didn't try to clean up that section(new owner can do that) I don't know anything else about this item so please ask questions. This is an antique nautical maritime copper lantern ceiling. Porch, or hallway light fixture. It was manufactured by the Metrolite Manufacturing Co. The only info I could find on this company was from the 1930s which is likely commensurate with the age and patina on this lantern fixture. It measures 15 inches long from ceiling canopy to base. The base diameter of the lantern is 6-1/4 inches. The interior"jelly jar" glass measures 4-3/4 inches long and 4-1/4 inches in diameter. Vintage Industrial Age Light Spot Lamp Antique Marine Fixture Ship Military
This auction is for one vintage ship spot light. We bought this fixture from a local estate. It belonged to a man that served in the Navy as a dentist. This was part of a large lot of vintage dental equipment that we purchased. We were told that it was from one of the many military ships that he practiced on. The fixture does work. There is a separate bulb socket mounted on the plate that supports the round light diffuser that is not wired. But the bulb in the center of the diffuser works(see pictures) Cosmetically, there are scratches and plenty of wear. It was painted black at some point and that paint is flaking and there is surface rust present(see pictures) It has been in storage for quite a while and it needs to be cleaned. Up for your consideration is a very nice 1920's Antique Ship Lantern. This is a one of a kind item. Just turn the switch and watch it glow. It puts off a Beautiful fully adjustable Blue Glowing Light using a Vintage style 40w Edison light bulb with a full range Leviton dimmer switch. This awesome Antique ship lantern works perfectly and is in excellent vintage condition. The lantern was manufactured in the 1920's and is constructed of metal with brass hardware and a brass manufacturers name plate. The brass name plate does have some solder on the edges from when it was attached to the lantern during manufacturing. It reads ALFRED F. GENTON SYEN WORKS WASHINGTON ST. BIRMINGHAM ENGLAND. From an estate sale is an Antique Vtg Brass Wall Oil or Kerosene Lantern. It measures 13" long and the beveled glass windows measure 4" x 3" All windows are free of cracks or damage. There is some surface rust on the inside but no corrosion to the metal to cause holes or damage so it could be cleaned if needed. The very top of the lantern has been soldered(see photos) but it doesn't affect the workings of the lantern. Antique Sailing Ship's Cabin Oil Lantern on Gimble with Wick & Hurricane Globe
This is a small sailing ship cabin copper/brass oil lamp with glass hurricane globe mounted in a gimble for full motion on a rolling vessel. I have no idea of it's exact age but likely from the late 19th century. It's tarnished and I haven't attempted to clean it up. It measures approximately 7 1/2/ H by 3 1/2" W and would stand away from a ships bulkhead approximately 4 1/2" and weighs approximately 1 pound. It has the glass hurricane globe intact as well as a frabric wick so all you would need to do is fill it with keroscene(or whale oil? and light it up. Wonderful old lamp from the days of sail. I disassembled everything and had the metal parts dipped to remove decades of paint and crud. And then sprayed the metal parts with clear matte acrylic. Rare 1920's original 8" fog bell lamp marked on inside of bell. PERKO, Perkins M.S. Co. Bklyn, N.Y. 07-61" Since I couldn't find a similar Perko fog-bell-lamp form anywhere, I contacted the Perko Marine Lamp Corp in Miami Florida with photos of the lamp. They said that this was originally manufactured by Perkins in this lamp-form and that it is not a custom piece made outside the factory by an individual. In their library they found only a 1920 and a 1932 catalog. In the 1920 catalog, they found a lamp that had similar fittings. I believe the markings inside the bell date this lamp to sometime between 1922 when the"PERKO" trademark was created and 1932 when the company name was changed to Perko Marine Lamp and Hardware Corp. It has a well-aged patina. Height from bottom of base to top of eagle finial is 20" ... moreDiameter of bell is 8" Bell has a wonderful resonant. Distinctive fog bell sound. Lamp is in good working order. Not sure if the wiring has been changed at all- the electrical plug is the old-style with prongs of even width. This is a very nice set of antique Tung Woo ship lanterns. They have some general wear(tarnish/scuffs/scratches) But look very good for their age. They have"Tung Woo Hong Kong" stamped into the front with a flying horse. They are 7" tall, and 5" wide. They both have wicks inside. One wick is black, and one is white(unused? Antique SHIP’s Globe Hurricane Lantern- Phosphor Bronze Early 1900's
Genuine. Early 1900’s ship’s lamp known variously as a“hurricane globe lantern, watermelon lamp, or onion lamp. It features a heavy glass globe indicative of its early manufacture. This lantern is complete with its original oil font and burner which fits into the bottom of the lamp with a positive half twist. The top of the lamp is fitted with a heat disbursing castellated chimney cap and the lamp is equipped with a stout wire bail handle for hanging. This diminutive little veteran of the sea measures 11 ½ inches tall and 10 inches in wide. Inclusive of the handle it measures approximately 13 ¼ inches tall. It is in good condition given its age and apparent actual use at sea. There is a small sent in the chimney cap and a stress crack in the globe which cannoy be felt when rubbing you fingers across it. Here is a great and unique piece for your buying consideration. Recently acquired it at an auction where it was commingled with a lot of marine/nautical items from an individual's collection. Would make a great gift or keep it for yourself! I have never seen one of these before. The body is made of brass. The tall neck can be screwed off of the body by the fixed bolt head on the end of it. At the end of the neck is a pinhole where the fluid vapors could be let to allow the flame for lighting the lanterns. What looks like a key is where the flammable fluid would have been put in the body. Think that is true with the"pan" around the key to facilitate the pouring. There is a brass side ... morepiece with screws in it that does not go to the inside of the pot. So. Another way to hold it. or locking into a device that it was inserted into. The brass and wood handle has some good age to it. I suspect the brass at end of handle was resoldered back on to the pot at some time in the past. There are two patent dates on the piece. On the filler cap key is a date of April 19 1892. On the pot itself is a date of April 4. 1893. Appears the piece could be used as a lantern or torch. Here is a great nautical set of large ship brass and copper lanterns for your buying consideration. Recently acquired them at an auction that a party's collection of marine/nautical items were being sold. We will have a number of these pieces for sale separately in our Ebay store. The lanterns would make a great gift or keep them for yourself. I would guess these lanterns are of pre-World War II vintage. The lamps were made by Yankee American Auto Lamp Co. They were in NY. Great set of port(red) and navigation(blue) metal and brass ship lanterns for your decor needs. The lanterns were probably electrified originally and are now electrified for home decor ... moreneeds. The lanterns still have the hanging rings on the top of them. The red lens lantern has a brass colored finish. The blue lens lantern has a nickel plated finish. The lenses in each one are glass and not cracked or blistered. Only exception is blue one which has a blister that runs about 1.5" across the top of it where it meets the metal of the lantern. The lantern cases are in good shape. They show some finish loss and some minor dings and dents. Each lantern is 6" tall. By 4.5" across, by 4.5" wide. The cords in the lanterns are older, but still look to be in usable condition. I would recommend you have the cords and wiring checked out by a professional look at before using them from a safety perspective. Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures. THis is an estate find. These are antique oil ship lights. There are makers tags that say Perkins Marine Lamp HDWE Co. Perko Trademark Brooklyn New York USA. All the glass is intact no damage. It appears to be brass and tin. THe lamp wick does work on one but the other I didn't really fool with to see. They are about 10 1/2" high and 5" wide. Nice set. Antique A. WARD HENDRICKSON MARINE SHIP LANTERN w/ RED GLOBE AS IS Brooklyn NY
I will be listing a variety of nice estate-fresh Antique and Vintage Items this week. Here is a Large Antique A. WARD HENDRICKSON. BROOKLYN, N.Y. MARINE LANTERN with"AS IS" ORIGINAL RED GLOBE. Looks to be c.Late-19thC vintage to me. Lantern is 20" tall not including the top swing handle. Buying as you see it as found in estate. The globe has a large hole on one side with crack lines going out from hole. The remaining thick glass looks stable as is however. Globe still displays well on good side. There are other ridge chips on glass. A couple of dings spots on shoulder of lamp. Top lid has dent on top. Vertical cage rod is pushed in where the hole in glass is. Opposite rod pushed in somewhat as well with some broken connectors to cage. Layer(or layers) of old black paint on surface. Old patina to lantern. There is a wire hanging ... morefrom top on the inside of lantern where previous owner had a light bulb hanging inside it. Hefty old lantern weighs approx. 15.8 lbs. unboxed.
