Very Large Vintage Antique Ship's Lantern Old estate find. This is a very large lantern made by Durkee Marine Products of Staten Island, NY. It is made of an old galvanized metal. With an iron folding handle on the top. The handle has a loop for hanging. There is a large round shade, and a heavy thick glass shade. The lantern is flat in the back where it looks like it would be mounted. Somewhere along the way. Someone decided to electrify the lantern. There is an electric cord that comes out through the top and a light fixture inside. The cord has a plug and a switch. The bottom piece that I guess was the oil tank at one time has a cut out opening that is used to access the light bulb. The lamp measures 18 tall to the top of the handle, and 10 inches deep to the back of the handle. The signal lamp operates by depressing the side lever to open the inside brass door in front of the oil lamp, emiting a brief burst of light to the next ship. Old Perko lantern ready for display/use. This piece was wired as a light but I removed the wiring because it was faulty. It can very easily be rewired or I think a candle glowing inside would make this piece. Typical wear for this piece few dents and cracks in copper. RARE UNMODIFIED ANTIQUE BRASS SHIP ANCHOR LANTERN MARITIME NAUTICAL COPPER RIVET
Up for sale is RARE UNMODIFIED ANTIQUE BRASS SHIP ANCHOR LANTERN. This is such a great find because as just stated it is UNMODIFIED. Meaning it has NOT been converted over to electric. This lamp features a brass body with handmade copper rivets. All the hardware(rivets. Hinges, hasps, etc) appear to be hand made/forged. The ANCHOR brass label is applied on the top section which opens to expose the burner. The hook and chain to secure the hinged top are still intact. There is also a hinged top cap for flame inspection. When you open the top cap you will see that the chimney is triple insulated. It has a Frenzel type lens which appears to be old and original glass. The oil tank and burner assembly fits snug inside the lantern. Upon removal of the burner assembly from the oil tank. The wick is new and the inside of the oil tank has no residue ... moreor oil smell, suggesting it has to have been either cleaned very thoroughly(with several areas inside the tank unreachable) or possibly never used! Even though it seems to be the latter of the two options we still say possibly due to now documentation or provenance on the lantern beyond the current owner. This lack of evidence of use is consistent with inside of the metal chimney where no obvious traces of soot can be found. The base has aspiration vents all around it. The burner's wick knob has the words"SHERWOODS LTD. B'HAM MADE IN ENGLAND" on it. Making this from the very early 1900s at the latest from what we can find on the company. We have no reason to believe that this burner insert is anything but original to the lantern. Meaning we believe the lantern to be from the same time period. If anyone knows any different please share with us. In use this lamp would have been hauled up the ship's mast with halyards. To secure it as such. The lamp is equipped with substantial brass bail handles on the top and bottom. These are attached to heavy cast brass brackets riveted to the body of the lamp. Antique Wilcox Crittenden Galvinzed Nautical Ship Lantern
Beautiful old antique maritime nautical ship lantern. Punch out design is indicative of Wilcox. Crittendon being the manufacturer. Glass has no cracks or chips. Bronze colored chimney is intact with no bends or and only very slight dings. Metal top ring is still in place. Most lanterns of this sort are missing the rings. Punch out design along the chimney is really cool. The zinc galvanizing, applied to protect the metal from rust has done it's jump. This lantern was likely subjected to sprays of salt water but shows very little sign of rusting. The only exception are the hinges on the bottom plate that were not galvanized but still work perfectly. There is no burner in this lantern but add one and it is ready to go. Antique PERKO lantern. The screw-on cap looks to be brass and the rest of it appears to be galvanized. The red plastic lens has a piece broken off it in the upper corner. This Vintage Bulpitt lantern is complete but the isinglass or mica chimney is slightly damaged and the font is slightly off center.May have been dropped.This is an antique Bulpitt 1941 ceiling oil burning fixture or maritime oil lamp. Vintage Viking Kerosene anchor light. Not sure of the age but not antique. I see other Viking brand lanterns listed as true antiques but I don't believe they are or that this one is. Everything works. It stands 15" tall. 6 1/2" deep and 6 1/2" wide. The glass is all in good condition. No dents, breaks or flaws that I can see. The material seems to be all brass except the rolled edges and corners are brass rolled over a steel rod. This lantern is dirty and needs cleaning but i will leave that up to the purchaser, I am selling as found. This will make a beautiful display or actually use it! Vintage unmarked 9" high brass lantern has a brass carry handle(makes it 9-3/4" high) to carry or to hang it, and a small Simplex kerosene burner with E Miller USA wick advance adjustment knob which works. The removable fount does not have a refill cap. And I have not been able to remove the wick top for refill. Buyer should assume that may not be able to remove. We have not tried WD40. Etc, or maybe I do not know how to remove the top. This is a cylinder shape. App 3" diameter across the base. No dents or dings, there are a very few small signs of use, on little mark on the lid, this has been a display piece for many years. This little solid brass lamp has a glazed hinged door glass app 2-1/2" high by 2-1/4" wide. Looks original, and there are 30+ small holes punched in the base for draft, There is an adjustable ... moretop that screws up and down to act as a damper. The door has a sliding pin closure. Hinge has no problems. Not sure what this was used for: maritime for a ship binnacle light. Early automobile? Neat little lantern in very nice shape. Lots of Photos! Converted Antique Marine Lamp Cargo Lantern Brass Viking Ships Steampunk
Antique Viking Cargo Lantern Converted to AC 110-120 v with Edison Bulb Just finished my latest conversion using an old Viking mast lantern using antique and vintage electrical parts. This is a larger Viking lamp. Measuring approx 14-1/2" from the base to the top not including the wire hangers. If the hangers are included it is about 21" Thought the original old lamp was too small for the conversion so I did not use it. Instead I used an antique porcelain fitting with a brass top from a part from an antique Aladdin oil lamp. These were joined by a friction fit and further cementing with high heat silicon which does not show. The on/off switch is also old. 1940 or older is my guess. All the wiring is new reproduction cloth covered twisted pair wire. The bulb, which is included, is a 60 watts. 8 filement reproduction Edison type bulb. ... moreThe lit bulb in my pictures doesn't show up well due to the brightness. It is quite beautiful to see when lit. At the end of the cord is an antique 2 prong vintage plug. likely 20's or 30's. This lamp was made to hang from a hook or wall bracket. Perhaps in a corner, over a period piece of furniture or in an alcove. Have put on extra wire that the buyer can trim to fit the space. The switch hangs free and was intended to hang conveniently down a wall for easy reach. This could be removed if the light were to be used with a wall switch or dimmer. The repro Edison bulb is included and is brand new but we do not guarantee them. They seem to be a bit more fragile regular bulbs. My experience is that they last longer if put on a dimmer and turned down about 10% We pack well and have shipped world wide since 1998. Which is hidden underneath the top. The story behind this item is that ships lanterns and light fixtures were salvaged to make gifts. Much like upcycling is today. This light fixture/lantern was believed to be from a passenger ship, circa 1929. IT does appear to have been cleaned at some point, or this was possibly an inside lantern because there is very little pitting and wear from the salty air. We cannot confirm this story. But we assured the consignor we would share it with interested parties. The glass is heavy. Cut glass, with brass accents. The music box is semi-crude, but plays perfectly. When you look through the top of the lantern, you can see an embossed"Japan" ... morein reverse on the glass bottom. The light/lantern is not functioning as a lantern any more. It was built in the early 1900’s by Perkins Marine Lamp& Hardware Corp. And has their name, city, state, and the“PERKO” trademark stamped on the belt clip. Also, BOAT SIGNAL” in a very large font) is stamped just above hinged door. This lantern features two adjustable handles, belt clip, 3” round clear bullseye lens, and a rotating shutter. Included is the original brass oil font tank and burner, which has“PERKO U.S.A. signed on the wick adjusting knob. Overall, the lamp measures 8½” tall x 3½” wide x 5” deep and weighs two pounds. Originally this unit was zinc plated and painted black. The black paint is almost gone and the zinc plating ... moreis still visible in the non-ware areas. Antique whale oil lamp lantern light onion globe silver plated BIG New England
This incredible light is from an old Wellesley MA estate. It stands about 20" tall to the top of the fixed ring on the top of the heat cage. The globe is around 10" in diameter. The metal surfaces are silver plated and in need of polishing. The base has some denting as shown. The font is original but the burner is missing. The light was electrified at some point but it would be easy enough to remove those parts. A very rare light. Thanks for looking.

I am not an expert to this type nautical maritime lamp. I will try my best to describe this lamp. Don't see any marking. Stand 8" in high and about 5" widest from handle to handle. Lamp is rounded, electric,complete with the thick glass cover. I am thinking that this lamp was possibly use along the harbor. The metal casing is intact and possibly brass/copper? THIS IS AN ANTIQUE NAUTICAL MARINE SHIP LANTERN WITHOUT THE LAMP. THERE IS A BRASS LABEL MARKED"STARBOARD" ON THE FRONT. THE LANTERN MEASURES 11 1/2" HIGH AND 6" WIDE. THE LANTERN GOES INTO A CORNER. THE TWO TIER TOP IS BRASS BUT THE REST OF THE LANTERN IS A METAL. THERE IS SOME SURFACE RUST ON THE FRAME AROUND THE GLASS. THERE IS A LATCH ON THE OPENING DOOR THAT CONNECTS WITH TWO OTHER SMALL LOOPS THAT A PIN GOES INTO TO LATCH THE DOOR. THE PIN IS MISSING. THE LANTERN WAS ORIGINALLY PAINTED GREEN BUT MOST OF THE PAINT IS FLAKED OFF. THERE IS A FLAP IN THE BACK FOR SECURING THE LAMP TO THE WALL. I HAVE TRIED TO SHOW EVERY PART OF THE LANTERN. It belonged to an officer who served in the first World War. We found the lantern in his army trunk with all his other gear but I couldn't find out if this lantern was something he used during WWI or brought home from Europe. We were however able to identify that it is a binnacle ship lantern. The lantern is not made of any steel. Its all brass. This is so that the lamp will not interfere with the ships compass. Antique Brass/Copper Lantern Display Piece
I don't know a lot about this piece. I know its Brass or Copper or both, I know its old, and its kind of flimsy. The solder joint on the top hinge for the door has come loose, the hinge is intact but it needs to be reattached to the body. The door stays closed with the latch, and it has 3 intact glass panels, a half circle handle, and a standard size candle holder inside. For what its worth, it works, I would say this is more of a decoration at this point then a functional lantern. It is old and dusty, and I am not cleaning it, it is roughly 7.25" tall without the handle, and each side is about 3.25" across, or deep. U.S. shipping to the lower 48, PayPal, and payment is due within 48 hours of auction end. It will be packaged safely in bubble wrap. The candle has been in there for at least 10 years and goes with the lantern.
