Still has the original paper label from the READING STEAMER TRUNK COMPANY, the makers of the trunk. Includes key that operates the lock correctly. But the lock latch bows outward from body of trunk. I haven't attempted to push the lock mechanism in to see if the lock latches the entire trunk, leaving that for the new owner to decide what to do. Side latches function correctly, securing the lid. All hardware appears to be intact and complete. Leather side handle straps are intact and secure, but they do have lots of surface cracking wear. Green and Black trunk with wood details. On the other side it is missing. There is no key. There is one piece of metal hardware missing above the lock. There is a removable wood insert that rests in top of trunk. Unique small travel chest. Not sure of the history of this but it is certainly a unique piece! It measures 18x10x10.5" Has a metal skin over wood construction. Metal corner guards protect it from drops and damage. It has some age to it and shows character! It has old travel stickers on it like they used to plaster on luggage back in the day. It has a Bassett lock that is locked. I dont have the key. It does not feel like anything is inside. Feels empty. I am leaving the lock intact versus breaking it open. If you are using it for display the lock does not matter anyway. Part of the fun might be sourcing a key and opening it up! The other two latches operate fine. Looks like it had two leather strap handles that are missing. A top edge guard is also missing. A 1920s Hartmann wardrobe trunk with a great Art Deco interior. It is in good condition overall. And the interior is in very good, clean condition. The canvas covers look perfect, and both covers snap properly. The drawer handles are a particularly nice Deco design. The exterior shows some wear and staining appropriate for its age, no major damage. I didn't try cleaning the Gibralterized shell, but it may clean up somewhat. All of the metal corners and hinges, and the tack reinforced edges are in good shape with no breaks. The lock has been removed but the hinge is intact, and ready for a new one. This measures 23 inches by 23 inches by 41 inches. Standing with the lid up the height is 4 feet.

A vintage Hartmann wardrobe trunk with a classic Deco interior. It is in good condition overall. And the interior is in excellent, clean condition. It is equipped with a velvet cushion lid, four nice hangers on chrome rails, and a beautiful chest of four drawers with classic Art Deco handles. The canvas suit and shoe covers look perfect. And both snap properly. The exterior shows a few scratches and stains commensurate with age. Nothing major. All of the metal corners, reinforced edges, and hinges are in good shape with no damage. It is fitted with a fully equipped interior and oak slats and ball castors on the exterior. This fine heavy trunk is complete and fully functional. It is signed with a brass plaque outside and a paper label inside. It is ink stamped Patented December 12. 1911. It comes with the original key. Trunk Description: Approximate measurements: 30” wide. 15” tall, 15” deep. A travel trunk manufactured and labeled by Louis Vuitton of Paris. France, circa early 1900's. A leather covered trunk with leather corner bindings and brass latches, lock, and rivets. The trunk serial number is 181974, stamped on the inside lining next to the label as typical. The Louis Vuitton signature style label, showing the Paris and London retail addresses, is in very good condition. The trunk was made sometime between about 1910 to 1930 based on the serial number, but only the Louis Vuitton company has the records which can identify the actual age of the trunk. The brown leather covering shows typical signs of aging and wear, and there is a small piece missing on the front of the lid. The leather corner binding is in good condition with some rubbed spots. ... moreThe center leather tie-down strap is missing, but the leather strap holders are present except the one over the lock. The two side handles are missing and the rivcts for the handles holders are present. There are several partial paper travel stickers on the trunk which do not add any specific history for the trunk. The interior lift out trays are missing as well as the lower divider pieces which are removable. The lining is in fair to good condition with some small stains and small tears. The leather on the bottom of the trunk is aged and cracked, but present and the three wood slats are all marked with the name and have the original iron rollers. This trunk was advertised by Louis Vuitton as a flat top“Boot and Shoe Trunk” according to descriptions from early Louis Vuitton catalogs. Sizes of these trunks varied a little over the years. But this style and size indicate it was a Ladies Boot and Shoe Trunk. The boot and shoe trunks were made in various sizes for men and women, with several sizes to hold different numbers of pairs of shoes and boots. An antique 1920's round black case/ luggage/ hat box/ trunk with leather trim and quite a few old travel stickers. It measures approximately 20" in diameter with one flat side so it can sit up without a problem X 9 3/4" high. There are 2 small brass hinges on the lid that hold it to the base of the case and there are 2 ribbons that serve as stays when the case is opened so the lid won't flop backwards when it's opened. It would seem that the lady who owned this hat case was a woman of'means' when you look at all the places it has been. And she most likely owned several others as well as the one you see here. One of the stickers on the case indicate the woman's name was Amelia Gebhard traveled in Cabin#11 on the Norddeutscher Lloyd(North German Lloyd) shipping line from Bremen to New York on 8-24-1926. Some ... moreof the stickers are the Hotel Post Reichspost in Heidelberg. Germany- the Carlton Hotel Tivoli in Lucerne, Switzerland- and the Hotel Milan in Stresa, Italy. Which is still in existence and have been in business since early 1900's The trunk closed. Measures 44" x 23" x 23" The exterior is is in good condition considering its age. view pics) All 3 latches adjoin and work properly. Both leather handles are broke but are still attached. There are many travel stickers affixed. One indicating this trunk traveled throughout Europe via the Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth steamships. There are tapered clasp that slide onto the box and lid and tapped in place to make the lids tight and secure. There are rubber gaskets on the insides of the lids that provide a waterproof seal when the clasps are tightly in place. I don't know the origins of this locker and if you do please share the information and I will add it to the listing description. Possibly a marine/Navy/nautical application. It's rare to find a vintage 1920's Hartmann wardrobe travel steamer trunk with its Yale key in this condition. All of the buckles and hardware on this piece are in working order. It comes with 2 straight bar hangers; 2 specialty hangers; and 5 coat/shirt/dress hangers. It has the original wood and metal bars that would have kept clothes tight and flat. The clothes bar extends 18" to pull clothes out for easy access. The trunk has three small drawers with cloth tie-downs and one large drawer with the original hanging hat keeper. There is some slight fraying of the cloth on the drawers from use but no large tears. The interior lid still retains its original blue velvet liner- still in beautiful condition with no tears or frays. The leather handle is stamped: 360 3" and the leather is in great condition.
