This auction is for an Antique Childs Hump Back Trunk. It is 16 by 9 inches and 10 inches high at the dome. It has a lift out shelf or drawer with two compartments. Only one side has a lid. But I think originally there was one on the other side also. There looks to have been a spot inside the lid where there was another picture. The trunk may have been painted the copper color but the wood is still its natural color and whether the black on the tin staves is original I don't know. By the look of the ends I am not sure if there were ever leather straps but I would think so. This is estate fresh so I have no information about it. It is sturdy and well put together. Antique 1800's Large Sole Leather Trunk Made By Haskell Brothers Chicago IL
Awesome 1800's Antique Sole Leather Trunk made by Haskell Bro's. Chicago IL. Perhaps one of a kind since I've never seen one exactly like it before and due to the fact, the original owner was a multi-millionaire(please read the history below) during that time period. This is definitely museum worthy! It is very structurally sound and in overall good condition! The primary leather has minor cracking which is to be expected for a trunk of this age. The leather is still very tight and secure. All stitching is tight as well. Which is quite remarkable! Haskell Bro's Makers Chicago is stamped into the leather on the top of the lid and is also visible on the brass locking latches. As you can see in the photos, the handles and a loop are worn off, but worthwhile to restore since all the studs are still there. The stud tacks appear ... moreto be hand hammered and all parts appear to be original. Extremely well made! The inside is lined with material with very few tears overall. Again. Quite remarkable for a Trunk that is well over 100 yrs old! There are no compartments inside. The wood slats are all in real good condition& the wood trim is as well. I'm unsure if it's oak, but I assume so. The bottom is in good condition, although as shown in the photo, there is a probable water stain. Included are leather travel straps. A leather handle, a buckle and two keys. I was told they are the original keys, however, one clearly says Hartmann. I have not tested these keys and am scared to out of fear they may get stuck when turning. I did however check to see if they went into the keyholes and both do easily. Measures 24" high. 20" wide and is 36" long. Please note. The top of the trunk appears in the pictures to be a bit"washed out, due to the excessive natural light. It is not washed out. Up for auction we have a beautiful antique Dome Top refinished trunk. Dating to the late 1880's. Sometimes referred to as a Bride's Trunk, or even a Saratoga- this trunk shines. Measuring 30 x 20 x 23, it is a great medium sized trunk. Outside has been refinished and the inside retains much of the original trays and compartments. The bottom portion of the trunk was cleaned and freshly papered with a cream white wall paper. Handles have been replaced, and original castors on bottom- trunk can roll, and thank goodness it can, because this beauty is heavy and weighs about 50 pounds. One of the things I love about this trunk is the second tray with all original canvas banding- no rips or tears- amazing that it is is this good of shape- and the letter keeper, I can just imagine the love letters being stored in that spot- I know I am too ... moremuch of a romantic- oh well. Refinished Flat Top Steamer Trunk Antique Chest With Straps and Interior Tray
Charming Refinished Antique Flat Top Steamer Trunk With Straps and Buckles and Interior Tray Here is a real primitive refinished steamer trunk or antique chest from the 1800's. This one is made up of pine base wood with poplar outer slat boards. It is probably from the Civil War era and has the original lock. The lock is there. But we could not find a key that works with it. So we are selling it in"As Is" condition as far as the lock goes. The trunk has the following dimension s: from left to right across the front is 27 1/2 inches. From floor to top is 12 1/2 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 14 inches. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. There are some typical older distress marks on the wood which include older nicks and dings in the wood along with some stress cracks. A small ... morepiece of one of the top outer slat boards has been chipped away, probably many years ago. We have run a pair of Amish made leather straps with roller buckles up the front and across the top. These will secure the trunk's top to it's base when buckled. There were no front latches on this trunk. The side handles were missing and have been replaced with black leather straps. All of our leather products for these trunks are obtained from an Amish man near our home in Pennsylvania. You might want to use this trunk to store your Civil War items, coins, or other personal valuables inside. Our trunks have been used to display teddy bear and doll collections. Going to the inside, we have made a nice tray for the interior. The interior tray and interior wood have been given two coats of polyurethane. The interior wood is rough cut boards with the saw blade marks still on them. A nice picture of a Victorian girl posing has been added to the underside of the top. Going underneath the trunk to the exterior bottom, it is in decent shape and we have finished the bottom with a coat of polyurethane to make the trunk overall cleaner. This listing is for what i believe to be a miniature humpback trunk for dolls. I have seen others listed as salesmen's samples. I don't know the difference. So, you be the judge. it seems to be in really good shape for it's age. please look at all the photos and ask questions. it measures 12" wide 8 7/8" deep and 10 1/4" tall, including the hump. It looks like a child used a crayon on the inside. Both leather handles are present. It is missing a few of the brass tacks here and there. also, someone long ago colored it with blue paint as I can see the original gold outlines and decorations thru the paint. please note I DO ACCEPT RETURNS. The main metal looks to be copper but I don't have a way to test to be sure. H orizontal wood looks to be oak but again I can't say with certainty. Inside- Has original paper with Victorian picture stuck to the underside of the top.This looks to be an original Victorian chromolithograph print. Print measures 7 1/2" x 5 1/2" Has one hinge on the right side. There is no evidence that the left side ever had a hinge so I do not believe it is missing. The metal work on the left top side of the inside is slightly bent. With some minor work and the use of a mallet it can be re-shaped. This trunk is very nice for its age. It has sticker on side that it was made by Taylor Fibre CO. I took lots of pictures please look close and send questions if need. The hey has is missing. The lock does work. Below is information on Taylor fibre company and there trunks. Vulcanized fibre Vulcanized fibre is a laminated plastic composed of only cellulose. The material is a tough. Resilient, hornlike material that is lighter than aluminium, tougher than leather, and stiffer than most thermoplastics. The newer wood-laminating grade of vulcanized fibre is used to strengthen wood laminations used in skis, skateboards, support beams and as a sub-laminate under thin wood veneers. History The British patent for vulcanized fibre was obtained in 1859 by the Englishman Thomas Taylor.1] He gained the patent after the introduction of celluloid in 1856 ... moreand before the invention of viscose rayon(regenerated cellulose) in 1894. Absolutely amazing dome Steamer Trunk. Very nice black and wood look. In outstanding condition for its age. Has the top compartment and the original label that refers to the James Dooley company that made high end trunks and luggage in downtown New York City from the Mid to Late 1800s. Additionally it is adorned with many stickers and customs tags from the various places it traveled. Please see all pictures for detail. Amazing Antique Round Top Trunk
We are offering an 1870’s. Round Top Trunk. The trunk measures, 30" length x 18" height and 15" width. This fabulous trunk is covered in Western Square Style paper. The inner lining is paper as well. The Wood Slats on the top of the trunk and front appear to be Oak. The bottom slats and construction wood appear to be poplar and the handles are wood as well. The lock latch looks to be hand forged. The nails are round/oval head square shaft. This is visible in the picture of the lid lock hardware, they were driven thru and clinched on the outside. This is a great piece of vintage history. Note*We have had a question about the finish on the front that looks darker on the right side. This was caused by the photo being made in bright sunshine. You will never regret owning this great chest. We have you some great photos so you can get the feel of the beauty of this very old blanket chest. I want to brag on this old fellow a little ... moreand tell you it is way over a 100 years old and yes it has a crack in the top. A piece of wood nailed under the top to stop the crack and yes one of the corner legs is worn down a little but it still sits perfect still and have a lot of(CHARACTER) This is a nice size chest and could be a beautiful coffee table with the great pine wood that you will find in this very old chest. The Pine Wood is all Heart Pine and not 1 knot in all of the wood. You have boards that are 15" wide and all heart pine. The chest is 38" Long. The chest is 23 1/2" High. The chest is 24 1/4" from Front to Rear. You have photos of the square nails that date this chest. The 15" board is joined to a smaller board with a hand planed tongue and groove. You have a round large peg on each side as the top hinge pivot. You have hand carved strong handles on each side that look to be carved from hickory. When we got the chest it was super dry and looks like no kind of finish has ever been applied to the chest. We did a bee's was hand rub finish on the chest to make all of the great grain in the pine boards pop out. This little fellow weighs in at 85 lbs. so

It is 100% made of metal, no wood on it. All of the painting is original as is the vintage Cunard sticker. That may date it past 1900 but I feel that the truck itself is earlier. It has a sliding bar that latches it. I have never seen another one like it in 40 years of collecting and selling antiques. It is 24"x8"x13. It has a carnival feel to it. Antique 19th Century Rosewood Campaign Chest Benson & Hedges Humidor Lead Lined
19th Century Rosewood Campaign Chest/Hummidor Old estate find. This is a nice Antique Rosewood Campaign Chest complete with brass corners and side handles that fold flat against the chest. The chest sits on a small stand to elevate it from the floor, I don't know that it is original with the chest. Inside the chest is a metal lining, I am told it is lead. There is a label on the lid for"Benson and Hedges, Importer of Havana Cigars and Egyptian Cigars" there is an address for London and for Park Avenue in New York City, between Holland House and Waldorf Astoria, at the bottom of the label it says Pat'd 1901. updated information from a fellow ebayer- I have collected and restored many B&H humidors over the years. This humidor was only sold from their New York boutique. It dates from around 1905- 1910 Your asking price ... moreis way too low! The stand alone is worth 300. Good luck! The chest is in good condition. With some wear to the wood on the top, looks like there was some water damage some wear along the way, inside is very nice, brass handles and trim intact, there is a lock but no key. Very interesting piece. Quite heavy with the metal lining. The chest measures 25" long. 14" wide and 14" tall, with the stand it is 22.5" tall. Very Nice Antique 19th Century Rosewood Chest/Humidor. Nice victorian blanket box perfect coffee table size or bedroom box.it is in very good condition for age built to last and is still very strong.Dovetail joints and lovely grain on the old pine clean inside and out.now this old box was covered in a thick fabric one methos that was used for box decoration and protection it has seen better days so the fabric jas been took off also the box has wheels underneith screwed on you can either remove or keep, only thing that has been change was the handles.please look at my other boxes/ items have sold few boxes lately with very positive feedback Posted with
