This is a very clean large oak trunk that has a variety of uses such as a blanket chest. Toy chest, or wonderful coffee table. It is made of solid oak with the original finish that has a nice patina and is finished on all sides including the back. The inside of the trunk has been painted red but can be stripped back to the natural oak. The trunk is 48" wide, 22" deep, and 24 1/2" tall. There is a piano hinge that opens the top. There is a lock but I do not have the key. The trunk was originally on rollers. A superb large 51.5" width pine chest Victorian/Edwardian in age. Orignally an otterman covered in fabric. Dovetail jointed construction. Evidence of old nail holes to the top front edge when lid opened only. Updated with reclaimed pine base skirting and lid trim.Stands on reclaimed pine corner feet just lifting it of the ground, although these could be unscrewed if not wanted. Very good condition no worm or rot. Super clean interior for your storage. Or slide along sectioned shelf, i cant see any worm, but its been treated now, with the stripping lotion, hand stripped and waxed with a stripped pine wax, there will be knock marks small splits etc, its exactly as youd expect for the age and useage, there is a small added bit to bottom right corner as shown in photo, delivery eng/wales will be by courier, or self arrange collection, the top is 2 planked and a thin gap at the seam.the top measures 95 x 52 cm, and its 40 cm tall

I have a LARGE antique seaman's chest or blanket trunk. It measures 4ft. long. 22" wide& 21" tall. Nice woodworking, beautiful dovetailing. Includes working"pirate" locks. Has some small scratches& dents as you would expect in an antique, and there is a split across the top that can be easily glued(please use the zoom feature to see all details) Also missing a trim piece on the bottom as seen in the last picture(I believe it was added, again easily replaced) Makes a great coffee table, or use to store items. Local pick-up, can deliver to Mid-Tenn. area.

the top is 37 x 24 inch. And its 23 inch high, made with side uprights i think would have had rope handles in its day, a little bit larger than the usual size chest, the planks have a thin space between them all round, though they are held in place and will never move, due to the upright side parts, there are old marks on the top as youd expect with its age, looks like some drawing lines too, please contact for delivery or self collect, hinges have been put on, and a chain to stop the lid going too far back, its been waxed, but could do with a good buff, a heavy old box

Square nailed.Solid and sturdy, the underside does have a few soft spots, they do not go through.
