This is a seldom seen. Early, iron banded trunk with brass button-head nails. I estimate it to be from the 1840s. This trunk has a small shape for such a"massive" trunk. It measures 24" long. 10" wide, and 10" high. The wood used on this trunk is Poplar, and the boards are up to 1" thick! Very heavy duty for such a small trunk. The trunk has been restored in such a way as to retain its antique beauty, and this includes exact reproductions of the original interior, and leather handles. This trunk has early style Brass over lead large head nails on the bands, valance, and handles. The original lock works, and comes with the original key, and the original interior tray is included as well. This trunk is simply amazing! This is a very old steamer trunk that measures 34" wide x 19" deep x 18" high. It is a caramel brown color very true to placard picture. The metal placard reads Reisearlikel-Fabrik Gebr. Locher Zurich. The top has stenciled letters FRAGILE A.D. NEW YORK. It has solid brass hardware with patina on the escucheon. There are 2 wooden bent straps around the middle and the edge reinforcements seem to be made of leather. A blue and white nautical flag is on the front and sides. It weighs about 45 lbs.

Antique 1886 Pressed tin croc/alligator trunk w/insert tray in very good cond.
Truly beautiful antique 1886(marked) trunk with pressed tin made to look like alligator or crocodile. That is so good that it fooled me when I bought it out of an estate in Hartford, CT last month. Did not get to open it until I got home and then I got the best surprise.The interior insert drawer is in fabulous condition but does have wear to the edges! I have done nothing to this trunk but clean the exterior and put two layers of satin spray laquer on it to protect it. There was only light rust that came off easily, the interior is completely untouched. There are tiny wheels inset to the bottom so you can move it around easily. The interior hinges that keep the top from falling all the way back when opened need to be reattached and there are no leather handles. There is a crack across the inside of the inner wood decoration as seen in the ... morepics, otherwise not much expected age wear. Measures 26 inches long, 16 wide and 14 high with curved top sides. There is a key but I do not know if it is original, although it does work. Please see all pics, enlarge and ask any questions before bidding. Antique Camelback Trunk Nice vintage trunk approximately 28"L by 15 1/2"D by 17 1/2"H. Made around 1880, the metal clovers? on top read(pat'd Mar 16, 1880) it is trimmed with pressed metal panels made to look like alligator skin. The trunk is solid, the bottom wheels are all in good working condition, the lid is firmly attached and it has it's inside drawer. It has wear to the surface paint, the leather side straps are missing/damaged, it looks like the front center latch was re-attached years ago with a small metal plate added, and there is a small hole in the metal along the front right edge(tried to show in picture) There maybe other small issues I missed or forgot to mention but overall this is a very nice decorative trunk that will display well. This is a GREAT 19TH CENTURY MINIATURE CHEST OF DRAWERS. A low boy with three drawers and height comparisons. It measures 8 wide, 6 high, 5 deep. The drawers are all complete and the secondary wood is oak as well. This is made in traditional colonial fashion. There has been ink spilled on the front right corner, as probably would happen in real life. It looks true to real life. Antique Victorian Table-top Cutlery Canteen. Oak Cabinet w 5 Drawers Elkington& Co Liverpool Circa 1900 Marked'Elkington& Co. Silversmiths, Liverpool' An solid oak table-top cutlery canteen with heavy brass carry handles. It has two arch panelled doors. With brass knobs and a sprung stud locking system(but no key, alas) which open to reveal 5 fitted drawers, also with brass handles. The doors reveal a brass inlay plate with the name Elkington& Co- as per the above markings. Cutlery people will be disappointed to learn that the drawers are empty and no longer fitted for cutlery. They are beatifully lined with velvet. And it is obvious that this has been used as a collectors cabinet, a function for which it is ideally suited. It has some problems. None of which detract from the overall appearance or function- but this is ... moretoo nice a piece for me to attempt repairs. A piece of wood, about an inch long has been lost from above the door hinge, on the top right hand side, and the solid oak back panels have shrunk, and have been carelessly glued back into place- and stand a little proud. I have a dilemma. In that the previous owner applied trim under the base of the cabinet to fit securely into an'ad hoc' stand. This is a more recent piece of oak, with a ply platform shelf, and was once probably a 1950s side table. It looks quite handsome on this'stand' the difference in colour and grain of wood is not too glaring, and could well suit those who want to use it as a collectors cabinet. I have decided to sell it with the'stand' included in the asking price. But if you do not want the'stand' I will deduct £10.00 from anty final agreed price, and you will likely save a substantial amount on postage- especially overseas buyers. Finally. It follows that those who want to return this to its original form, as a stand-alone table top cabinet, will have to remove the thin wood trims on the base, and(ideally) find some suitable feet- the holes in the base indicate that there w

This one is a beauty. Up for auction today we have a refinished antique trunk dating to the 1830's- there was newpaper from that date inside when it was found in its"before" state. Originally leather covered, the leather was dried and tattered, worn and falling off- this trunk shines and is ready for any room in your home or office to provide much needed storage of important papers, photographs, or photo albums. Rare Antique Hide Trunk/Chest from South America
This is a rare antique leather and hide trunk or chest from the South American frontier. These were used by Gauchos to store items being carried on Llamas and by families for storing blankets and house hold items. The chest is very lightweight and has an inner rib like structure made of wood. The remainder of the chest is made entirely of hide or leather. It also has iron hardware on the front. The particular piece is from the estate of Joanne Hearst Castro; granddaughter of William Randolph Hearst. I believe it was from one of her estates in Santiago Chile. Finding these can be extremely difficult. Several antique dealers have priced the items from $1000 to well over $2500. You can see a few for sale on 1st dibs.

Also loop above the lock was replaced, used is 100% brown leather, leather was vintage, but in very excellent condition All sides of this trunk are embossed with a gorgeous design. Sort of like floral& vine motif The hardware is just as ornate as the tin. Compliments it very well There are also silver tone(maybe bronze. 1800's dome hump camel back steamer travel chest trunk alligator skin design
Thanks for looking at my listing. This sale is for a very unique piece of history. It's called a steamer trunk dome style from the 1800's. Made of wood and metal. Great craftsmanship, there is a ton of detail available on this trunk. It's beautiful, and features an alligator skin"cover" over the center portion of the trunk, as well as on the sides. There's still the original victorian picture on the inside, and the tray is there as well. The trunk is damaged on the left hinge, and it appears someone at some point tried to fix it, but the wood split. A beautiful piece to have and restore, or just keep it the way it is for history sake. I don't know much else about it, like the origin, or how many families it went through. Alligator Embossed Steamer Trunk 1890-1910 This is a versatile and attractive trunk from the turn of the century. A solidly constructed steamer made of wood, trimmed with embossed alligator tin, and featuring a lid with only a slight arc. It’s 34 inches wide, 19 inches front to back, and 22.5 inches tall– a perfect complement to any rustic decor. The trunk is constructed of a pine box with hardwood slats across the top and two slats on the front and back. It has new thick black leather handles and a new lid stay– otherwise in original condition. The alligator pattern has been refinished in a rich. Reddish brown that is darker than it may appear in the flash photos. Although there is no evidence of its manufacturer. A ruggedly hand-hewn Antique hand-painted Mexican Wedding Chest from about 1800. Entirely hand crafted in Mexico. Corners have hand cut dovetails and carved wooden pegs secure the joints. The hand painted exterior finish has deteriorated over the 25 years it has resided in our 1810 Colonial. It needs an artist to bring back the originally vibrant rainbow of colors in preservation. The interior is painted with vivid color and is in an excellent state of preservation. Hardware is original hand wrought iron. Inside is a small compartment for valuables. The lock is missing and on this picturesque furniture. There is a hand painted"Anno 1780" date, an illegible inscription and swirly decoration that appears to be later. Antique 19th century trunk made by J.H. McNamara's Trunk Works Nos. 138. 140 and 142 Monroe St. Fort Dearborn Bld. Chicago. It measures 40 1/2" across, 24 1/2" high, 16" deep and weighs 55 lbs. The trunk is all original. The wood and leather has a lovely patina. The inside has two levels of cloth covered trays, and a box that slides from left to right. These trays all have leather straps. The label is on the inside cover, also the original paper tag written with the owners name W.E.H, 251 North Grove St. East Orange, N.J. There is a brass plaque on the top with the maker's name. There are no cracks inside or outside the trunk. There is a small gouge on the front right side of the trunk. The inside fabric on the side shows some wear. Boy do I wish I had more time to devote to refinishing trunks. But just not enough hours in a day so I am selling some trunks from my workshop that need some gentle TLC. Up for auction today we have a nice small brass button Jenny Lind Style Trunk, Ca. 1860's. Covering on this trunk is like a thin fabric canvas- almost paper like. One leather handles still there, the other long gone, but the end caps are there. See all photos. NIce interesting lock plate, sorry no key. Tray is gone and inside cover for the top is also long gone. Bottom missing a roller. Trunk sold as is- but definitely will shine with some much needed attention. Antique 1830's Wooden Dome Top Trunk with Maker Label and freshy lined
I picked this up from my mother's after she lined it and I was very tempted to keep it- the lining is gorgeous and so wonderful that it still retains original makers label. Some years ago. Someone else stripped the trunk of the old leather but kept the nice brass tack decorations. Trunk has original thick leather handles and is all wood. Nice honey color, the wood is nice and smooth- but as any item over 100 years old it is not perfect- it has character dings and scratches- evidence of a life well lived and traveled.
