ANTIQUE Metal Bound STAGE COACH Trunk 19th Cent. Ornate Brass Lock LEATHER LINED
Beautiful Refinished 19th Century Stage Coach Trunk Solid Wood. Was covered on the outside w/ paper, but most of paper was gone paper was cleaned off. And trunk was sanded, and finished leather straps were added to the trunk. Original ones were gone I chose these straps. As the design on them was much like that of the original paper: The handle on the left side(when facing the front) is the original handle. Amazingly still very sturdy, the other is a replacement, matches very well The loop at the top above the lock is a replacement. Matches the handles The lock could presumably be made to work again. But doesn't at this time, I don't have the key either The lock is beautiful. It is a Jenny Lind style lock, very intricate and beautifully designed The inside is totally lined with leather. I chose this instead of paper or fabric since ... moreso many trunks from this century were covered with leather, I thought it would be awesome to have one lined with it instead, makes it unique and luxurious: The leather lining also has two very functional pockets on the back side. Inside, that are very useful for holding small items you might place in your trunk! measurements are 31in x 16in& 17.5 tall excellent condition!

The trunk closes with a hand forged latch and a l eather strap and hand forged buckle. Some of the strap has worn off. But there is still a functional hol e for the buckle. There are two areas where I believe the hardware is not original: the back hinges and the two brass chains which hold the trunk open. I believe these were added during this century. Otherwise. Antique 1860's Stage Coach Wagon rare trunk leather brass nails old chest
Selling this rarely found stagecoach travel trunk from circa 1860 that has been refinished. The leather of the top of the trunk had shrunk to the point where it could not be reattached to the sides so I covered it with a black buffalo hide that is thick and comfortable to sit on. I think the results are pretty good.There is a minimal color difference between the old and original leather. Every brass nail is original to this trunk. Because the original leather could not be reattached to the top. I built a wooden seat, added some padding and covered it with the new hide. It functions perfectly as a seat. The interior of the trunk has a small door. It is through this small door that users would store their laundry. There is some available space to store some small items. The leather on the bottom. The sides on the top and bottom, are original. ... moreThe dust covers on the sides are original, but the cover on the front is new, as is the lid lifter. There is a lock behind the lid lifter, but there is no key. The interior is lined with come cloth that is dirty in a couple of places. I added two stays to support the lid. Handels are original, not sure how much weight they can support. Over all the trunk's dimensions are 24 x 13 x 14 1/2. I attached a picture of what the trunk looked like before refinished it. Antique Steamer Stage Coach Trunk Fur Covered Civil War Era
This is a nice antique steamer trunk for your collection. I purchased it with several antique dolls inside that dated from the 1880's. I am not sure of the exact age. As this is not my specialty. It measures 21" long, 11" deep and 9" tall. It is covered with leather/hide and still has some of the remaining fur. Handles are original and have been handmade. Antique 1800's Hide Covered Stage Coach Trunk
You certainly don't see these every day! This is an OLD 1800's stagecoach trunk. It can easily be dated as you can see in the photos that it is lined with the Portsmouth Herald newspaper from 1840. Covered in either horse or cow hide. The hide has begun to pull away as it has dried out over the years but the majority of the hide is still in place. Leather strapping and edging. It measures 27" Long, 14" Wide and 12" High. The top is domed. The top part of the lock is gone but the bottom part remains. The hinges that hold the top on are gone. The hand forged handles are still present on both sides. This likely would have been a security" box that held valuables or guns. Just a note of interest: It is marked on the bottom"3. JW Williams, Washington, VA" Washington DC would have still been referred to as ... morebeing in Virginia. If you appreciate western history, stagecoaches or anything from that era, this is a must have! My wife, a history professor, attempted to research JW Williams and found a couple of men that if could of been but we couldn't nail it down definitively. One was an evangelist who was ordained in 1841(very near the date of the newspaper) and another was a gentleman who did famous portraits of presidents. Some small pieces or parts may be missing, it has wheels on the bottom part of one is missing, still for a trunk of this age it is very nice. The straps buttons are brass. Well worn and used on the outside, all corners and metal details intact. There are no bottom corners of metal, flat on bottom. Unsure on date and name of manufacturer. Unit measures: 36" wide, 18" deep, 19.5" high, not including the rope handles in measurements. Rope handles. Approx 40lbs, this is for local pickup or you need to send a call tag from UPS or Fedex Ground. I cannot wrap it perse, but I will try to protect it for you the best I can with a layer of cardboard if you want it shipped. Completly refinished Antique stage coach trunk from civil war 1865 Era
Completely refinished antique flat top trunk also called stage coach trunk. This trunk dates back to the civil war era. I installed new double ply stitched leather handles. very strong) made by local amish here in central PA. Also the leather straps and buckles are new and fully functional. The exterior was cleaned. Brushed& sealed for protection as well as conservation, I leave the cracks& dents to preserve the character the the trunk has ocumulated over the many years. New high end fabric interior was put on after stripping. Cleaning, brushing, drying and sealing the interior. some say fabric was not used for the interior originally. But I have seen it on occasions and always in much better shape then wall paper, so for personal preference and long lasting I choose fabric for most of my projects. Antique1800's mini trunk. In original great shape for it's age[1860s-1870s] very sound structure and no mildew or musty smell. Measures in inches approximately: 7" D X 16" W X 8" H inches. Has been in the family since the early 1970's. Features: Small wooden dome top style antique chest red/brown black lithograph paper covering from the civil war period. The paper covering is original but tattered. No mildew or musty smells. Ornate metal accent features are not damaged nor bent and are all present. The leather hinger look to be from the 1800s but may not be original or have been renailed over the years. Some missing paper at edges. Some edges and a section on top. Up for consideration is Antique"Jenny Lind" old Stage Coach Traveling Trunk or Steam Trunk. It has the inner tray. This item is in original aged condition at present-These trunks look simply beautiful when restored and polished up. Item is structurally sound and made of oak and pine covered with a leather exterior with steel bands going around it. It has brass buttons and a old iron lock face on the front. The leather handles are missing on the ends and the lock is non-operational. And without a key. When we found this item it was full of old personal items. Bonnets and papers. The bottom was lined with the paper shown in the picture. It was published in Jackson Ohio in 1894. EXTREMELY RARE VINTAGE AUTHENTIC ANTIQUE STAGE COACH WOODEN 2 DRAWER DOME TOP TRUNK/CHEST SOLID WOOD circa 1840's Up for auction is this very rare vintage and authentic STAGE COACH WOODEN 2 DRAWER TRUNK/ CHEST SOLID WOOD with a dome top. It was actually used on a stage coach and in very good condition for its age. Shabby chic rustic and rugged. Made of solid wood and sturdy. On the outside there is a little paint loss on it due to its age. Mostly on the back of the trunk on the bottom. The outside was probably refinished at one point. It was hand or CUSTOM made. Very heavy well made chest. It is solid with no damage to it or its 2 drawers. The drawers are 14 3/4 inches in depth x 20 inches long x 2" wide. In good solid condition. None of the wood shows any sign of damage. Warping or shrinkage. Both drawers open and close easily. ... moreTwo metal knobs are present on each drawer to open them. The previous owner told us that it was checked by an expert and was made sometime during the 1840's and except for one handle on the top. Everything else is original. It looks like it may have been used as a gun/pistol box or a storage box for guns. Its bottom drawer is QUITE UNIQUE. The drawer has seven raised wooden compartments in the color blue. That color blue was not be the original color. TWO of those compartments were designed specifically to fit pistols. The other compartments perhaps to hold ammo and anything else related to pistols or guns. The trunk/chest by design does not have any side handles. Four strips of embossed metal adore its domed top. When you open the trunk/chest it will not remain open unless you put something underneath the top to prevent it from closing. Underneath the lid of the trunk there is a secret compartment. The interior is in very good condition. The inside of the trunk is all natural wood. Very clean with no odors. Good condition for its age, some pieces of the leather are missing as seen in photo. There is leather to use for straps.included) one buckle is missing on front left,where there would have been leather straps around the trunk. the handles are unique. Made of bent wood and in excellent condition. The key plate appears to be brass. Overall very good condition for its age. Antique 1850's Civil War Era Robert Burr Leather Stage Coach Chest Trunk
Up for auction is an incredible attic found. Rare Robert Burr, signed leather stage coach truck in original condition. This was recently pulled from a family home attic crawlspacee and was FULL of family history documents from the 1850's-60's, some of the contents are included with the sale. This is a beautiful surviving example of Boston's Robert Burr Trunk Manufacturer. I am seeing this called an officer's Ditty Box. This trunk has hand tooled designs on the top and is decorated with brass tacks all over in wonderful primitive designs including the initials of the owner Gilbert Jillson of Woonsocket RI. There is a wonderful clean manufacturer label and a secret compartment. The leather is still in relatively good condition but the straps are partially missing. Photos show the condition. I don't see any repairs. This ... moretrunk measures 27" wide x 15" deep x 12" high. Under the lid there is a compartment that is opened by removing a wooden stick through cloth straps. This compartment opens and can fill the top possibly with clothing or documents. I don't know. The lock is brass and has a large leather protecting flap that would be strapped shut. No key but the lock appears to most likely work. This truck was full to the top with family history including Civil War tin types. Land deeds, love letters etc. Included with the trunk are a few interesting documents. There is a Woonsocket RI Patriot newspaper from 1865. Communication letter to a land buyer stamped and dated 1854, an advertizing postcard for Animal Veterinary Surgeon Levi Wilson, 1857 complete original land deed and original 1858 land survey. This is an original Civil War steamer trunk owned by Col. Henrie Crandall from Rhode Island. Makes a nice conversation piece. A piece of History of the Civil War. It does has wear and tear but it is solid. It is in its original condition. Please study the pictures. Col. Crandall was born November 30. 1829 at Voluntown, Ct. From 1860 to 1866 he was Assistant commissary General of the State of Rhode Island. For a period. Under Governor Smith's administration he served as Acting Adjutant general. At the outbreak of the Rebellion he went out as Sergeant in the First Battery. Col. Crandall was Aid on the Staff of both Governor Turner and Governor Smith. Super Large Victorian Stage Coach Steamer Trunk circa 1880-1900. Measures 5 ft long x 2 feet wide and 1'11" tall. It is great shape for its age. It is missing a leather strap on one end and has a ding in the side. But the inside is in pristine condition with all original parts still there. The paper lined inside is still clean and the trunk itself is sturdy and complete. It has a slight kidney shape ... moreand measures 18 wide by 16 tall by 32 long and weighs 30 pounds. We have posted closeup photographs so you can see that overall this trunk is in very doo condition. There a couple of separation and tears to the black oil cloth covering. But the hinges are strong and the lock is complete. Sorry there is no key. With a little restoration you can make this circa-1850s trunk into a wonderful display item that you can store in. It closes but does not lock or have the original key. Lock is from the Eagle Lock Co. founded 1833. Not sure what the main material is. But it has metal and leather accents. ANTIQUE AUTHENTIC STAGE COACH 3 COMPARTMENT WOODEN TRUNK/CHEST 1840's Up for auction is this very rare vintage STAGE COACH WOODEN CHEST with 2 DRAWERS plus a secret compartment when you lift the top of the chest/trunk made of SOLID WOOD. It was actually used on a stage coach and in very good condition for its age. Shabby chic rustic and rugged. Made of solid wood and brass triming and very sturdy. There is a little paint loss on it due to its age. It looks like it was hand made as well as CUSTOM made. It is solid with no damage to it or its 2 drawers. The drawers are almost 14 inches in depth x 20 inches long x 2" wide. In good solid condition. None of the wood shows any sign of damage. Warping or shrinkage. Both drawers open and close easily. Two metal knobs are present on each drawer to open the drawers. The previous owner told ... moreus that it was checked by an expert and was made sometime during the 1840's and except for one handle on the top. Everything else is original. There is a personal gun/pistol box or a storage box specifically made to store guns. Its bottom drawer is QUITE UNIQUE. The drawer has seven raised wooden compartments in the color blue. TWO of which were designed specifically to fit pistols. The other compartments perhaps to hold ammo and anything else related to pistols or guns. Considering the fact that the trunk carried pistols and perhaps gunpowder. It is quite understandable why side handles were never attached to the trunk. Thus the trunk/chest by design does not have any side carrying handles. We are guessing here that perhaps the trunk was a salesman's trunk in order to sell pistols. That would assure the owner that the trunk had to be hand carried at all times. When you open the trunk/chest it will not remain open unless you put something underneath the top to prevent it from closing.
