It's an extremely rare find in either size with all the original paper on the trunk. Antique Camelback Trunk Nice vintage trunk approximately 28"L by 15 1/2"D by 17 1/2"H. Made around 1880, the metal clovers? on top read(pat'd Mar 16, 1880) it is trimmed with pressed metal panels made to look like alligator skin. The trunk is solid, the bottom wheels are all in good working condition, the lid is firmly attached and it has it's inside drawer. It has wear to the surface paint, the leather side straps are missing/damaged, it looks like the front center latch was re-attached years ago with a small metal plate added, and there is a small hole in the metal along the front right edge(tried to show in picture) There maybe other small issues I missed or forgot to mention but overall this is a very nice decorative trunk that will display well. The chest measures 26" long 17" tall 15" wide the paper on the inside of the chest is original there is a broken handle and some hardware issues that come with age. The inside tray is long gone. All hardware and wood has been lightly sanded then sealed with a satin finish for protection. New leather handles were put on. This small antique steamer trunk has beautiful color and is in great shape for its age. It measures 26" long x 16" high x 13" wide. It weighs 26 lbs. All the metal plates are intact but one. And that I will send in a baggie and can be attached by the buyer. The inside is papered and has a beautiful decal of a lovely lady. The bottom has four rollers which all work. The oak wood slats are silky to the touch and have great patina; the tin is colored yellow on the back and sides as the photos reveal. The previous owner put dimes inside the front latches. Up for bid is a rare original SMALLER antique trunk/chest. It has leather over wood with metal strapping and sitting on four metal roller/wheels. This chest has the original lock.but…no key. It also has the original paper lining with a Victorian style picture on the interior lid. There is also one area where it looks like someone wrote their initials in pencil. The exterior leather is intricately decorated with artwork depicting geometrical designs. The leather is fastened with numerous studs or tacks. Measurements are 25” x 14” x 13” The Bad: This trunk/chest is completely original so shows evidence of its age. Many“bumps and bruises” through the years as you can see in the many pictures I took. Here you are buying a"Antique Steamer/Railroad Trunk" This is a really nice looking trunk that has a slight hump t its top. Metal corners and edges and side snaps adorn this trunk. There is a lock down front that is loose along with a snap on each side of the front as well. It as leather straps and slots some of which are no longer intact. The leather handles on each side are present but torn(replaceable as the hardware is still there) It has a canvas material that covers the wood and is reinforced with wooden slots. The hardware is black and brass or brass like and ornate in design. There are three railraod stamps that are still somewhat readeable saying Railway Express Agency in New Hampsire and addressed to a location in New Jersey. Up for sale is this vintage or antique early 20th century humpback trunk. The front. Back and top have metal panels with a reptile skin texture. The side metal panels are smooth with a blue tint. The humpback top has wood banding. There is metal banding on the edges. It has metal one directional wheels on the bottom. There is extensive patina on the metal and wear on the wood finish. Part of the metal lid strip is missing on the front corner, and the leather handles are missing. It has 2 broken hinges and the inside shows use wear as in soiling, filth, staining. The lid on the insert is detached but is included with the trunk. It has a strong smell of moth balls. The lock does not latch and we do not have the key. However, the other 2 latches do function. Very nice steamer trunk with colorful green embossed flower tin top. Back hinges in good working condition. Center lock[no key] is marked"Eagle Lock Co. Terryville Conn, USA" The two latches located towards the sides of the front work well. Once engaged. They are secured and released by a small lever on the side of the latch. They are marked"Pat Jul 972" The handles are metal and do not appear to be original. But they look very consistent with the trunk and are solidly mounted. All four wheels on bottom are present and still work. There isn't a lift out drawer or hinge stop. The trunk measures approximately 33" long x 18" wide x 24" tall. The trunk weighs 16 lbs[just the trunk- without packaging] I trust you can tell from the pictures that the trunk isn't perfect. But is in very usable condition ... moreas-is. Here is an awesome opportunity. They don't come any better than this because they are in museums. I bought this from a 96 year old lady whose family has owned it since its birth. She hated to part with it but had no room in her assisted living facility. It is a beautiful camel back steamer trunk in original condition. It is an amazing piece of history and an incredible antique with an awesome look. There is hardly any rust except on the bottom and very minor. Antique Trunk - Camelback, humpback 1870s - perfect for restoration - LARGE
This a is beautiful old 1870's camelback tin/wooden trunk that has not appeared to have been restored. Everything looks to be in the original condition. One latch in the back is still attached. The other one is not attached together but still on the trunk. The leather handles are not attached. There is even a bonus braid of old long hair in the trunk. It is obvious, on the pictures and in person, where trunk is coming apart, but appears to be easy enough to fix. The lock has a marking of"PAT" MAR 69" with some other letters"A? see picture) The latches on the front have a nice bird figure, the leather attachments on the side look to have a starburst type design, and the original paper border is on the inside with the pictures. It is black embossed tin with oak strips. All original ornate hardware. All latches work. But there is no key. One of the straps is broken and needs to be replaced while the other is very fragile. Here's a Very Old. Antique Miniature Arch Top Trunk for Dolls. Please, see all the pics as they are an important part of the description. This is from the 1800s and from what I can gather, through a little research, it's probably from the 1850s to 1870s but, I'm not positive.you girls who collect these things will know by looking at it, immediately. It Measures 14" Long X 8 1/8" Front to Back X 9" Tall. Both the Trunk and the Tray are structurally sound with no loose joints or corner wiggling or racking.it's firm all around. The Latch is Original, I believe but the rear hinges look to be of a later date. I have owned this beautiful chest for 55 years and have not been as kind as it deserved. I have stored everything imaginable in it and have stained the tray with artist supplies. It measures 34" long and 21 1/2" wide. It goes from 23 to 27 1/2" High at the hump. I am in a five floor walk up which means two strong people to carry it down. Antique Late 1800's Dome Top Humpback Steamer Trunk Hardwood Slats
A large hump back antique steamer trunk that dates to approximately the late 1800's. It measures 31" long X 20" wide x 27' high(at the highest point in the center of the lid) It's covered with tin and there are attractive hardwood slats that have developed a beautiful patina over the past century. The wood slats and tin are all held in place with brass tacks and very ornate hardware. The wood and metal on this trunk has taken a lot of abuse but these were made to stand up to even the roughest handling and the trunk is still basically nice and sturdy. The trunk used to be lined with paper but it's either been taken off or it's worn off over the years and now it's pretty much just down to bare wood. Which will make it easier to work with when you go to restore it prior to placing linens or blankets in it for ... morestorage. The trunk is nice in dry inside and there are no moth ball odors, just a dry dusty odor that reminds me of the attic in my grandmother's home many many years ago. If you'd like to store things inside most folks like to sand down the interior and then seal it or line it with cedar which eliminates any lingering odors.The hasps on the front do not close tightly because the lid does not fit properly. The leather handles need to be replaced and the original wood tray is missing. The bottom of the trunk has 2 plain hardwood slats running across the edges over black tin and there are 3 small metal wheels on the bottom corners(one is missing and needs to be replaced) these little metal wheels make it easy to move around on any flat hard surface. We are unsure if the lock works properly because there is no key so it will be shipped in the open position. Please view all of the photos and ask for more if needed, they are a very important part of my description. What a great piece 14x9 12 inches high Please look at pictures before bidding. It does need restoration The metal bands are rusted Missing handles Missing front lock No tray inside The lid has the fixtures to hold it together but some screws are missing. Inside lid has a wood split. I know that sounds like a lot but it is a real pretty trunk. With a little tlc it can be a beauty.

Trim& latch etc. It is metal with wood trim. The metal joint that holds the lid open is good and strong. It is slightly bent but still closes just fine, no issues. That’s the only issue I see. Hinges are in great shape. It is mechanically sound, very sturdy and still usable for storage and/or as a piece of furniture. The leather handles have both been replaced and are very sturdy. Vintage Antique Tin Clad Humpback Steamer Trunk Floral Pattern
You're bidding on a lovely antique tin clad humpback steamer trunk that measures 32x19x18" and is about 20" at the top of the hump. It has the original stamped floral pattern tin on the outside and a removable tray on the inside with an extra divider slat- we've looked and looked but can't figure out where that goes. If you look closely at the top you can see the original blue and gold coloring of the tin that contrasts with the red on the sides and back. It is missing the lower half of the left latch on the front(see pictures) The interior is in decent condition. No sign/smell of mold or mildew despite the stains on the tray- it is as dry as a bone.
