This trunk is in fairly good overall condition. I am not positive as to when this was made but the hardware is classic late 1800s hardware that i commonly see on a trunk like this. The insert here is really what stood out to me it is in very good condition. In fact probably the best trunk insert I have ever seen that was in original condition and not restored. The left side of the trunk on the exterior near the top rim there is a dent with a small hole where something hit the trunk it looks like. Most likely RailRoad, has old stickers from traveling from state to state but there hard to read do to being old, weathered and in poor condition. Has owners name painted on side of trunk and below name Cincinnati, Ohio. Inside has blue maker tag, most of the tag is missing. Trunk is in Fair to Good condition, trunk is solid with no wood rot, All the cast hardware is good, cast iron and brass lock, some of the cast iron hardware is ornate and of good quality for the time. Front latch locks have a midevil look. Missing one wheel but the caster that holds the wheel is good. Trunk has paint loss, scuffs and scratches, rips in material, rust ect. Measures approx. 38 3/4" wide x 23" tall x 22" deep. Flat top will make ... morenice rustic coffee table. Inside has one tray, seems little small, not sure if it goes with this trunk. It has been restored inside and out and is super-clean and ready to use. The trunk is very solid and sturdy. It is made from oak and the exterior is covered in tin and has metal trim with oak slats. It has all of its original hardware. The trunk measures 34.5 inches wide by 20 inches deep by 24 inches high. And it weighs 64.5 pounds. The exterior has been thoroughly sanded. The tin has been primed and finished with two coats of black paint. The oak slats have been refinished with two coats of tung oil as has all of the exterior hardware and other metal parts. Both of the levers that lock the latches work fine. Both of the handles ... morehave been replaced with very similar leather handles. The bottom was sanded and finished in black. All four of the original metal roller wheels on the bottom of the trunk are intact. The entire inside of the trunk and the oak tray have been sanded and refinished with two coats of polyurethane. The lid for the tray has been recovered in Victorian-pattern cloth. There is a reproduction Victorian chromolithograph on the top of the inside of the trunk lid. The lock is solid brass. Although most people will not believe this, most trunk slats were not made of oak, but rather ash and elm. The grain of these looks more like ash because elm has ... morea very wide and swirly grain pattern most similar to oak. Nearly every old trunk catalog and ad says that the slats were hardwood, but they don't say oak. Several trunk catalogs and other historical documents I have specify that they used ash and elm on nearly all trunks. So, if you want to be more historically correct you could include this. 4) vintage used s teame r trunk decorative corners. Each corner has a top and bottom which attach to the trunk lid and the other to the top of the trunk base. The one end fits into the other end for a secure fit. The winged corners measure approx. 2 1/4" high and 3" wide individually, when the corners are com b ined they measure 4 1/ 2" high and 3" wide on each side. The number marked on the inside of the corner brackets are 368S. They are in good condition but could use a good cleaning. Very n ice addition to anyone refinishing a old steamer trunk. Antique Original Steamer Trunk Hardware Feet S 165 1/2 Corner Restoration Parts
Here I have 4 iron steamer trunk corner hardware feet off a very old trunk. All are marked S 165 1/2. They are 2 1/4" by 2 3/4" wide and in good old condition and clean. They could be used just as they are or could be plated or painted. One has a nail stilll in the hole but it can be easily cut out with the right tool. This is the real deal folks! This lock is heavy brass. The pictures don't do justice. But it has a nice swirled brass finish that has the original patina. The dimensions are:3 1/2" wide by 6 3/8" long. Depth with the lock is 1/2" It is labelled Corbin Cabinet Lock Co. New Britain, Conn. with a serial number on the back of 1002. Everything is functional. Does not come with any mounting hardware. Please ask if you have questions.

Flat Top Leather Handle Wooden Slat Brass Hardware Steamer Trunk Chest
Notes/Observations: See Photos. Grand old trunk. From the research I have done and the travel labels that are on the trunk. I would say this is c1920s and saw a lot of action on American railways. This is a Flat Top trunk. Which makes it particularly good for use as a coffee table. This trunk has Wooden(oak) Slats. Which now have a rich patina from years of use. The lock is open and appears to be functional. But we don't have the key. The edges of the trunk are leather tacked into the wood. There is one area where the leather has split. Some additional tacks will handle this. The exterior surface of the trunk is fabric over wooden construction. The fabric is holding up very well. No fraying or missing pieces, The corners and some of the edges are metal bound. The metal has a nice dark patina. The leather handles on the ends are split. ... moreNew leather is needed there. If you restore this trunk. Then I hope you get a leather worker to make new straps(which would look great) Bottom of the trunk has wood slats over metal sheets. Inside. The fabric covering is in bad shape. The interior does not smell musty, Nice trunk. And a good item to start with if you are looking for a restoration project. Also good and usable the way it is if you like an unrestored look. Overall size: 32 3/4" wide x 20" deep x 12-3/4" high One of the wood slats is in need of repair. To keep this trunk in the same condition it is now. It will be wrapped/taped in cardboard for shipment. The listed shipping costs are for deliveries made to the lower 48(USA) states. Antique Salvage Steamer Trunk Hardware Original Lot of 8 Metal Repair Parts
This is an antique lot of 8 original hardware pcs. off an early steamer trunk good for repurpose repair parts. They are in solid condition but are very old so some rust too backs but nothing terrible. There are 4 pcs. that go on the trunk lid and 4 pcs. the go fro the lid down the side. The straight pcs. are 4" long about ad the others are 3 1/4" because one end goes over the lid top. Each pc. is 1 1/4" wide. Original metal salvaged parts lot! Happy to answer questions!
