Old Iron Lock & Key for Antique Pine/Oak Blanket Box/Chest/Trunk/Coffer
Here for sale is an old iron lock with its original working key suitable to use on an old pine blanket box or trunk. It measures 3 1/2 inches wide. 2 1/2 inches high and 3/4 inch depth. The measurement from the top face to the centre of the key is 1 1/4 inch. The key measures 2 5/8 inches long. The main body of the lock housing the workings is 7/16 inch thick. The top face is 3/4 inch. Please note. The receiver isn't the original to the lock. It fits fine but when locked it doesn't lock tight. I have taked a picture of it upside down to show the small gap when locked.

Antique & Primitive Six Board Footed Painted Pine Blanket Chest, Box, Trunk 47"
I get most of my items at estate auctions and sell them in an"as found" condition. I do no repairs. Alterations and very little cleaning. This is done in the belief that most buyers prefer to receive them as original as possible. Because the items I sell can come from anywhere. I can't guarantee they all come from smoke free environments. DESCRIPTION: The existing color is mustard but there are several colors underneath. Including a coat of blue and another coat of salmon. One of those two is probably the original color of the chest. It is not a dove-tailed chest but it's tight and sound. It does have damage on one of the corners of the lid(see photos) and there is some evidence that some gouges on the lid were filled at one time, and not an expert job. The piece is old enough that the the hand plane marks can be felt on ... morethe interior. The piece probably is no more recent than the mid 1800's and could be older. It is about 47" in length, 16" in width and about 17 1/4" in height. It comes straight from a farm barn near Odessa, Missouri. The metal handles are original but the hinges are not and do not match. Please do not ask for this item to be shipped. It is for local pick up only. No exceptions. A handling charge of $1.50 is included in the domestic shipping costs. Antique Primitive Lift Top Pine Blanket Chest Red Wash Country
Antique primitive or country blanket chest with bracket feet. Simple six-board construction with an unusual half-moon cutout to create the feet at each end. The lift top is held in place by modern steel H-Hinges and a brass finished rest that keeps it from reclosing unexpectedly. Beautiful aged red wash finish. There are large iron nails holding the chest together that look like they are handmade. This piece is in good condition. Especially considering its age. There is a split to the wood near the back of the lid as well as a little bit of separation at the joints. The nails have also come out of the wood a little bit. There are what look like water marks to the finish as well, including splatter marks on one end. The chest has the original working lock and key and the strap hinges and side handles are blacksmith made wrought iron. Note the beautiful large round head hand forged strap hinge rosehead nail attachments. There are also square wooden pegs throughout. The interior is solid and has a"candle box" to the right. The dimensions are 42" wide by 25" tall and 21" front to back. Also note the quality touch of the small round wooden projectiles in the rear to keep the chest from hitting the wall and making the lid difficult to open. There is one rosehead nail that has an old replacement in the very rear. Also. The floor inside the chest is solid although the underside that rests on the floor shows wood loss from a decade ago. This chest came from the barn of my family farm in Vermont that dated back to 1776. The farm, not the chest) I have enjoyed this chest and carried it around for 50 years. There are a few issues as follows(check out the pictures) Someone replaced the hinges with new ones. The bottom trim pieces are chipped at the corners. Antique Pine Blanket Chest with Butternut Trim, circa 1800
Circa 1800 Wide Pine Plank Blanket Chest. Missing glove box, but enhanced with a Butternut moulding trim on the lid and skirting. The old milk blue paint makes this a very attractive large dovetailed original chest. The hinges,although correct from that period, are not the original set. The measurements are 18" tall, 20" in width and 46" in length. We are in Central NY, so unless you are willing to pay for crating, the only way to get this chest will be a mutual meeting. We are willing to travel to Albany or Binghamton or Utica areas for pick-up/delivery. If you are planning a visit to the Central NY during the summer months, we would hold the chest until then.

We're only selling it as our expanding family needs more room and using such a lovely chest as a cot seemed a shame! It's in great condition with only a few age related nicks that add to the charm. I've no idea how old this chest is but it certainly has some age to it- must be a hundred/ hundred& fifty years old? Finished in a lovely golden"antique wax" polish it has three internal compartments; two slide-out drawers and one longer section with a hinged lid. As you'll doubtless notice from the photos the previous owner seems to have kept horsey items in it as it has coloured ropes fixed inside the lid. It is a large wide 6 board single drawer blanket chest that date to the early to mid 1800's. Someone has finished it with a black finish that would probably be best removed and taken down to a natural pine finish or it could be painted. It is a very early blanket chest with all single wide board front. Back, sides and top standing 33.75" high and measuring 37.5" wide by 17.75" in depth. The single drawer is hand cut dove tail joined and a hand chamfered drawer bottom and box with initialed signature on bottom of drawer box. Antique Pumpkin Pine 6 board blanket chest
This handsome 6 board Pumpkin Pine chest has hand cut molding around the skirt and breadboard type molding around 3 sides of the cover. The hinges are hand wrought iron'bean' ends with some newer screws used in the 40's. The interior has a till box with a secret drawer under it that would have been used for hiding valuables during 1800's. There is some evidence that this was painted grey originally. But the wood is so beautiful it should have been left unpainted, in my opinion. Length is 49.75" Height is 21" Depth is 20" The hand created dovetail joinery is widely spaced indicating that it is an earlier piece. It has the original hand made lock with key still in it. There is some water staining on the top which can be attended to by the new owner. An 1800s elm blanket box/ chest. Wonderfull colour/ patina and elm grain detail. Hand forged iron lid hinges. Recently wax polished so all ready for the home. Fully treated throughout and guaranteed for woodworm as the chest had suffered in the past as seen in the pictures, some areas around the top edges to the interior are filled, its very common for elm to be attacked by worm. Up consideration is a mid 19th Century 6 board pine Blanket Box. The piece measures 17 1/2 inches deep by 24 3/4 inches high with a length of 42 1/2 inches long. This chest is dated 1847 and signed R. Wiggins. This type of work or paint was added to Antiques in the early 60's when there suddenly became a renewed interest in American Antiques. It is signed R. Wiggins in the lower left cartouche. If one looks closely on the front one can see the original paint underneath with some fancy scrolling lettering. Please see photos. The box is clean. No pets nonsmokers estate. As with many of these boxes there is a small glove or storage box in the upper left side. The top lifts off as the hinges are no longer present. The piece dates from the mid 19th century and is made of 6 large wide boards. The sides have a sort of boot jack footed sides ... morethat elevate the chest. ANTIQUE PINE BLANKET CHEST DOVETAIL MED. WOOD TONE BUN FEET, 1800-1899, AMERICA
This is an uncommon size for a blanket chest in that it is approximately the same height& depth of the most usual chests. However its width is considerably more narrow. Placed among others, its uniqueness is readily apparent. The glove box is narrow and when open, will hold up the chest's lid. The corner dovetails are all hand cut. The bun feet tops are inserted into the base of the chest, with quite wide protrusions. Parts of the chest appear to be single board. It's a nice early piece that will generate interesting looks and conversations. Weight is guestimated about 40 pounds. Dimensions are- 31-1/2"W x 22"H& 19-1/2"D. I can deliver to a local shipper. Antique American Pine wood blanket chest trunk, primitive country 1800-1899
This blanket chest has been in my family for 50 years. It is an early primitive pine piece with lots of storage inside. It looks like it may have been stained red originally. Most of the color had faded. In very good condition and a real charmer. There are 3 old black burn rings on the top as seen in the last photo. The measurements are length 42"x width 18.5" x 20" height. A great size for a coffee table or end table.

Antique Pine Blanket Chest / Carpenters Chest
Up for bid is a beautiful antique Pine Blanket Chest or Carpenters Chest. The chest measures 34 inches wide x 17 inches deep x 16 inches high. It has a raised top. The chest was refinished in the 1950’s. It is a nice warm brown tone on the outside and the interior is painted a pretty blue. It has the original iron handles on the sides and the original hinges. With the exception of the locking hinge to hold the top open. The chest has a split on the raised top. And the normal nicks for an antique piece, the all over look is very good. The chest could have been a carpenter’s chest at one time but I have always used it as a blanket chest. Please refer to photos. Please contact me if you have any questions. You are looking at an antique blanket chest which is at least 100 years old. Auctioneer stated it was over 50 years old at auction sale in 1959.and there was quite a bidding challenge. Was looking for a trunk.but we decided right away to get this chest when we saw it. I kept my quilts in it. Probably from Scandinavia we were told and that got me even more interested. It is pine and heavy.has dovetailed corners.Wood pegs.no nails, nice iron hinges, rope handles and is a whiskey colored wood. There are three curved pieces on the top.and on the inside there are two wide planks on the bottom. There is a key"plate"but there was no key with it. There are signs of wear here and there on top.scratches.roughness.etc.nothing excessive. The heavy wear shows on the bottom edge and this is shown in the photos. The width of chest is 30 inches, ... morethe height in front 16 inches, the depth at side is 20 inches, height at dome 18 1/2 inches. This chest has been in a bedroom at foot of bed and contained old quilts.perfect for them. There no marks of I.D. as to country of origin. It is a darling chest. Any wear shown was there when purchased.and the"gouge" or whatever on bottom edge on one side and front edge we never tried to fix.This item is for pickup only.
