It is missing the leather handles, and ... moreone can see there is some wear and tear. I believe the stain on the top will come out. It has several bands of brass riveted to it. The bottom has no wheels, only wood rails. The lock has no key, and sometimes when you close it it locks up, but can easily be turned with an object that fits the hole in the lock. VTG Antique Flat Top Black Trunk Chest Original Everlasting Hardware Blue Insert* Up for your consideration is a VTG Antique Flat Top Black Trunk Chest Original Everlasting Hardware Blue Insert. This trunk is in fairly good overall condition. I am not positive as to when this was made but the hardware is classic late 1800s hardware that i commonly see on a trunk like this. The insert here is really what stood out to me it is in very good condition. In fact probably the best trunk insert I have ever seen that was in original condition and not restored. The left side of the trunk on the exterior near the top rim there is a dent with a small hole where something hit the trunk it looks like. The interior has a few spots where the paper is starting to come off or are chipped and the ledges that the insert sets on is starting to separate from the ... moresides but nothing major and not loose. The trunk has I believe it's original owners name shown under the top and on the top of insert as shown in photos. This would make a great coffee table. This is one of the most unusual and attractive antique steamer trunks I have found. Unusual design reinforced with multiple wood slats and copper detailing throughout. I acquired this particular trunk about 15 years ago and used it for awhile as an accent table with a glass top in my design studio. Although I am on the constant hunt for vintage trunks, this is one of the most unusual I have ever found and have held on to it for years awaiting another purpose. All wood construction with a multitude of wood slat reinforcements and copper straping with riveted joints throughout. Much of the original hardware. Including hinges, is intact but the front lock/latch ... moreand one side handle is missing. The interior is clean with remanants of an old paper lining that has been pealed away to reveal that the wood used in the making of the trunk was most likely recycled from antique wood crating. With one area showing an original stamp for the"American rubber company" I was surprised to see this and since this trunk is at least 100 years old, I think it is such an unusual and charming detail The trunk has probably had a coat of protective finish added to the exterior at some point and the wood has developed an aged and rich patina. There is a burn mark(see photo) on the left side. Indicating at some point in its history this trunk even endured some sort of fire, but is clean and undamaged otherwise. Fancy Refinished Flat Top Steamer Trunk Antique Chest With Straps, Key & 2 Trays
Gorgeous Refinished Antique Flat Top Steamer Trunk With Straps. And Buckles, Working Lock& Key and 2 Original Interior Trays Here we have a very unique flat top steamer trunk from around 1900 or so. Out of about 1500 trunks that we have refinished. This is the first one that has triple straps running up the front and across the top. This one had originally come with three straps going up the front and across the top from the factory. Obviously we have replaced those three straps with Amish made leather straps, running them where the original straps once were. The center strap can be tucked under a piece of leather on the top if you don't want it to come down over the lock. We have made it that way so you can display your trunk with the lock showing instead of being covered by the third strap. We did want to include the third strap ... moresince it is the first trunk we have ever had with three straps. It just makes it more complete by putting the strap that covers the lock on this trunk. All of the black strap keepers or hold downs that you see on the front and top of the trunk are the original ones which we have painted black. This trunk is made up of poplar base wood with oak outer slat boards. We have finished the wood with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. The wood has some typical older distress marks which include older nicks and dings along with some areas of discoloration to the wood on the slat boards. This one doesn't have hardly any stress cracks in the wood which is quite unusual since most trunks we refinish have stress cracks. Here are the trunk's dimension s: from left to right across the front is 32 1/2 inches. From floor to top is 23 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 20 1/2 inches. This one comes with the original signed working lock. It is signed, Corbin Cabinet Lock Co New Britain Conn U.S.A. We have matched up a key that does work in this lock. Charming Refinished Antique Flat Top Steamer Trunk With Straps and Buckles and Interior Tray Here is a real primitive refinished steamer trunk or antique chest from the 1800's. This one is made up of pine base wood with poplar outer slat boards. It is probably from the Civil War era and has the original lock. The lock is there. But we could not find a key that works with it. So we are selling it in"As Is" condition as far as the lock goes. The trunk has the following dimension s: from left to right across the front is 27 1/2 inches. From floor to top is 12 1/2 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 14 inches. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. There are some typical older distress marks on the wood which include older nicks and dings in the wood along with some stress cracks. A small ... morepiece of one of the top outer slat boards has been chipped away, probably many years ago. We have run a pair of Amish made leather straps with roller buckles up the front and across the top. These will secure the trunk's top to it's base when buckled. There were no front latches on this trunk. The side handles were missing and have been replaced with black leather straps. All of our leather products for these trunks are obtained from an Amish man near our home in Pennsylvania. You might want to use this trunk to store your Civil War items, coins, or other personal valuables inside. Our trunks have been used to display teddy bear and doll collections. Going to the inside, we have made a nice tray for the interior. The interior tray and interior wood have been given two coats of polyurethane. The interior wood is rough cut boards with the saw blade marks still on them. A nice picture of a Victorian girl posing has been added to the underside of the top. Up for sale is this beautiful restored antique victorian flat top low profile steamer trunk with working key. It measures 34 1/2" long by 20" wide and 12 1/2" tall. The original canvas that wrapped this trunk has been removed and the wood was sanded. Stained with minwax"cherry" then sealed with two coats of spar urethane(light sand in between coats) The interior lining has been removed and the wood was sanded then stained. The Trunk shows obvious aesthetic signs of age but these details give it the perfect patina and look. The structure of this trunk is solid and it is very functional as a coffee table, blanket chest, etc. A great piece with tons of character that will be the focal point of any room. Beautiful Refinished Antique Flat Top Steamer Trunk with Original Working Lock and Original Working Key My husband and I have refinished over 130 trunks. Each one is a treasure of its own. The history of each trunk dates back as early as the 1 800's. Each has its own unique story. While owning a trunk of your own. You can enhance the tradition and legacy with your own family. This is a very nice decorative refinished flat top steamer trunk. The particular d imensions for this are 32" length. 19" width and 21" height. This beautiful trunk would make a great trunk for a college student to keep stuff in, or for someone to store old photo books in. To begin the restoration of this trunk we began by taking off the old canvas covering and all paper on the inside. Next we sanded the wood on the entire trunk. On the outside and ... moreon the inside. After all the sanding was done, we then applied coats of Polyurethane as the finishing touch to give the wood a nice shine. The trunk has some typical small stress marks and small stress cracks which are common in wood of this age. Next we painted all metal parts of the trunk with a black or gold leaf paint. We then attached 2 new Amish made tan leather hand l es to this beautiful trunk. With this particular trunk we were able to keep the original lock and key and they are in good working condition. Working the way up to the lid of this trunk. You will find the original stay to keep the lid open when wanted. Also on the lid you will find the original label. This is in wonderful condition and very readable. We included a picture to show you the label. We love finding these on trunks, it fills us in on a little bit of the trunk's history. Finally on the bottom of the trunk we painted all the black on that too. Also on the bottom are the four original casters that roll smoothly while moving the trunk. Good looking, 2 original keys that work the lock. Flat top so you could add a piece of glass to make it your coffee table while storage hides inside! Perfect in the bedroom too! This is the most original steamer trunk we have ever had. It has the 2 original tray liners. One open, one with a folding top panel. This trunk is an antique, it is solid wood covered with the original canvas, strapped with solid wood horizontal strips for structure, edged with fancy heavy iron trims. The original clasp on either side of the front and lock are in place and work well. We were lucky to find two keys for the lock so you can hide your goodies. The initials G.M.D. are stenciled ... moreon each side of the trunk. Imagine this was the owners initials. Great storage. Good looking, ready to use with metal bottom that still has the original metal rolling wheels! These photos were taken outdoors so the colors are accurate. Take a look at the 12 photos you will not find a nicer steamer trunk on Ebay. I am not an expert on items we sell just describing what I see when I look at the piece. Use this as a guideline and follow along with the photos I have taken several at different angles to give you a good look at what you are buying. Condition: Very good condition. All locks and clasps work well. The hinges are sturdy in place and hold the lid up with a side arm attached to the inner wall. There is NO missing or torn/broken canvas, the wood may have some tiny dings from years of use but look very good. The bottom is metal with original metal rolling wheels. There is NO rot or rust holes on the metal, NO rot on any of the wood. The original leather handles are attached to each end of the trunk although one is quite worn. This is a beauty! A Ladycomet Refinished Flat Top Steamer Trunk Antique Chest w/2 Locks,Key,& Tray
Beautiful Refinished Large Antique Flat Top Steamer Trunk With Two Working Locks& a Key and Interior Tray This one has surely come a very long way from when we purchased it. This one was completely painted pastel green on the exterior like they used to do in the 1970's with a lot of furniture items. We spent a heck of a lot of time stripping over 99% of the ugly paint off of the exterior. The trunk should date back to around 1900 or so. It is quite unusual in which it has the double locks. This beautiful trunk is made up of pine base wood with oak or ash outer slat boards. We have finished the wood with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. The wood has turned out to be a nice tannish brown color on the base wood and a tannish color to the slat boards. The wood is in pretty good condition although there are some scrapes and nicks ... moreon the wood in various places along with some hairline stress cracks. All of these markings are very common on most all of the trunks that we refinish. When we received this trunk. The lower locks were cut off. So we have installed two vintage Eagle Lock Company locks, both of which will work with the one key provided. The upper receiving part for the locks on this trunk are original indicating that we have replaced the locks with similar ones. Here are the following dimensions: from left to right across the front is 28 1/2 inches, from floor to top is 20 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 17 1/4 inches. The metal parts that make up this trunk are not brass and have been brush painted by hand in black and gold leaf. The side handles were missing and have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps. All of our leather for these trunks is obtained from an Amish man in an Amish community near our home here in Pennsylvania. This beautiful flat top trunk which is a true flat top with no factory arch, did have a leather strap that ran up the front and across the top. It was missing, so we have replaced it with an Amish made leather strap with roller buckle. It

Nice Refinished Antique Flat Top Steamer Trunk With Working Lock& Key Here is a nice refinished steamer trunk from around 1900 or so. This one has a very fancy working lock. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 32 inches. From floor to top is 23 1/2 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 20 1/4 inches. This trunk is made up of pine base wood with oak or ash outer slat boards. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax to protect it and make it look nice. The wood is in pretty good condition considering the age of this trunk and there are some typical stress cracks in the base wood. We have shown a close up picture of some of these stress cracks on the top. The majority of the trunks have similar stress cracks. This trunk maker did a nice job of running metal banding ... moreon this trunk. By doing so, it gives the trunk a nice wooden sectioned appearance. Some of the metal banding was missing, so we have filled these areas with glue to make up for the missing banding. The front latches are original cast iron ones and do work properly since the springs are intact. The side handles have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps. The metal parts on this trunk are not brass and have therefore been brush painted by hand in black and gold leaf. Someone has added a lock hasp on the front of the trunk next to the fancy lock. We decided to leave it there since it appears to be fairly old and you could use a padlock with this hasp to secure the lid of the trunk to the base in addition to the fancy working lock. The lock is fancy in which it has embossed and carved patterns on it. There is a close up picture showing this unique lock. We did match up a key that does work with this lock. We are calling this trunk a flat top, although this trunk has a very slight factory arch to the top which is noticeable in ths close up side view picture. Antique Steamer Canvas Covered Flat Top Chest/Trunk Circa 1880-1910 with Keyhole
This chest may be a Jenny Lind(the top of the line for its time) due to the keyhole in front(no key included; has a lock. But whoever had the key locked the latch-trunk still opens and shuts, just doesn't lock without key, but has latches on each side) but I can not positively identify it as a Jenny Lind. I am unsure what type of wood this chest is made of, but it is dated circa 1880-1910 due to the embossed metal coverings, and the fact that the low flat tops were created beginning in 1880. This is a very hard to find 3-slat topped chest, as most for sale are only 2 slats. It has hardwood staves with metal trim and added hardware. The inside has the pins left for holding the cloth that used to be inside. It would make a great antique collector's addition, or could even be made into a table! A Ladycomet Primitive Early Refinished Flat Top Steamer Trunk Antique Chest
Charming Early Primitive Refinished Antique Flat Top Steamer Trunk Here is a nice refinished flat top steamer trunk from the mid to late 1800's. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 32 inches. From floor to top is 16 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 17 1/2 inches. This one is a more primitive style trunk in which there is more wood showing and less fancy metal hardware. This one still has the Jenny Lind influence in which there are the small brass rosettes or buttons on the thin metal banding at the sides. The trunk is made up of poplar base wood with oak outer slat boards on the top. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. There are some typical older nicks and dings on the wood in various places. This trunk comes with the original lock which has been remounted ... morewith screws. The lock does not work since the top engagement piece or latch that swings down into the lock is missing. The lock is AS IS since this part is missing. The side handles have some wear, but were in good enough condition to keep. They are brown leather stitched straps. This trunk might serve nicely as a coffee table since it does have a flat top. These trunks can also be used to store collectibles like Civil War items or coins within. A real common way to use a trunk like this is to store clothing and other personal belongings within it, especially in a bedroom at the foot of the bed. Going to the interior, the wood is totally rough cut boards. There was glue residue on these boards which held the paper lining in place. The glue residue was light colored, so we had to stain the interior wood dark to try to cover up the lighter glue areas. The interior is dark colored with some glue areas showing and has rough cut boards. A nice picture of a girl holding her pet cat has been added to the underside of the top. Very Nice Fancy Refinished Belber Brand Antique Flat Top Steamer Trunk With Straps& Buckles. Manufacturer's Brass Tag, and Brass Working Lock With Key Here is a refinished signed Belber trunk from around the early 1900's. This one sure is fancy with lots of metal hardware all over it. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 35 inches. From floor to top is 14 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 20 1/2 inches. This trunk is made up of the original laminate from the factory. It is some type of pressed composition over some type of wood. We have given the laminated areas a nice dark reddish mahogany color and then polyurethane over the mahogany stain. The edge banding with all the nails in it appears to be also a type of composition and it is a brownish color which we have freshened up. ... moreThis beautiful flat top has the brass manufacturer's tag. It says, Belber Make" Philadephia, New York, Chicago" They must have had a few factories producing their trunks. This Belber trunk comes with the original brass working lock. We have semi polished the brass lock and matched up a key that does work properly in this lock. The remaining metal parts on this trunk are not brass and have been brush painted by hand in black and gold leaf. The front latches are also original and in good working condition since the springs are still intact. The side handles were missing and have been replaced with black leather straps. This lovely trunk originally had leather straps. They were missing, so we have run a pair of nice Amish made leather straps with roller buckles up the front, across the top, and down the back in the same location where the original ones were. These leather straps with roller buckles are functional and in addition to the lock and latches, they help secure the trunk's top to it's base when buckled. Up for sale is this antique/ vintage turn of the 19th century flat top steamer trunk with heavy duty ornate hardware in excellent antique condition. This beautiful trunk would make an excellent coffee table. Or would look great at the end of a bed or in the bedroom as a night stand. This VERY sturdy trunk measures approximately 33" long by 19" wide and 18" tall. This trunk shows normal wear from age as pictured, but as you can see this"patina" actually enhances the antique beauty of the piece. 100% Original. Overall it is in good shape. The interior lining is still intact(there are some tears in it) and there are no keys, however a key can easily be made. Fragments of which still remain. ... moreIf you restore this trunk, then I hope you get a leather worker to make new straps(which would look great) This trunk has Wooden(oak) Slats. Which now have a rich patina from years of use. I polished the exterior of the trunk and the slats look even better in my opinion. The lock is open and appears to be functional. But we don't have the key. This trunk includes the Till. It is covered in paper which is chipping and peeling. I would remove it if you restore the trunk. The edges of the trunk are leather. The exterior surface of the trunk is fabric over wooden construction. The fabric is well worn and frayed. With bits missing, especially along the edges. If you restore the trunk, one direction you can take would be to strip the exterior(and interior) of the covering and simply finish the wood underneath. The corners and some of the edges are metal bound. The metal has a nice dark patina. The leather handles on the ends are now gone. New leather is needed there. Inside. The fabric covering is badly stained and either should be removed and the wood underneath finished, or replaced. The interior smells musty and old, but not mildewed in my opinion. IT HAS TWO LEATHER HANDLES ON THE ENDS, OF WHICH ONE IS BROKEN IN THE MIDDLE BIT STILL ATTACHED, AND LEATHER STRAPS ATTACHED ON THE BACK WHICH ARE BROKEN. Nice Refinished Clinton Brand Flat Top Wall Trunk With Manufacturer's Label. Working Lock& Key, And Interior Tray Here is a very unique refinished patent dated and factory labeled Clinton Wall Trunk. Here are the following measurements: from left to right across the front is 33 1/4 inches. From floor to top is 23 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 19 inches. This trunk is named a wall trunk since it can be put right up against the wall and the lid can be lifted up without hitting the wall since very little space is needed for it to open properly. Most trunks need to be about three or four inches away from the wall for the lid to be opened. Look at the pictures and we have shown the signed and patent dated hinges. It is signed, Clinton Wall Trunk Mfg Co Clinton Mass Patented Feb 25 1890" We detailed these embossed numbers ... moreand letters with black paint to make them more legible. We are calling this a flat top steamer trunk, although there is a very slight factory arch to the top, noticeable in the side view picture. This trunk is made up of pine base wood with oak outer slat boards. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax to protect it and give it a nice appearance. The wood is in it's natural color which is a tannish brown color. There are a couple of typical stress cracks in the wood. Most all of the trunks that we refinish have one or more stress cracks. The front latches are original and work ok since the springs are in place. We have given this trunk a nice older sturdy working lock, signed"Yale" It comes with the proper key so you can lock your personal belongings away from others if you choose to do so. The side handles were missing and have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps. Going to the interior, we have made a nice tray for the interior. It rests at the top edge. You can sort smaller items in this tray, then lift it up and place many more items deep inside the belly of the trunk. We have shown a close up picture of

Beautiful Refinished Flat Top Wall Trunk With Working Lock& Key. Interior Compartment Area. And Interior Tray Here is a very unusual fancy refinished flat top steamer trunk from around 1900 or so. Here are the following measurements: from left to right across the front is 28 1/2 inches. From floor to top is 22 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 18 inches. It is unusual in which the top and back and front slat boards are angled at about 45 degrees. We have only had about four of these over the past thirteen years to refinish and that would be out of around 1500 trunks. We have removed some of the metal from between the slat boards to expose the wood underneath. This beautiful trunk appears to be made up of pine base wood with ash or oak outer slat boards. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane. There are some ... moretypical older distress marks on the wood. These character marks include older nicks and dings. Mostly concentrated on to the outer slat boards, and there are a couple of stress cracks. The majority of all trunks that we refinish have these type of markings. This great trunk comes with the original signed working lock. It is signed, Yale& Towne Mfg Co Stamford Conn U.S.A. We have matched up a key that does activate the lock mechanism. This trunk maker used a very nice amount of nice hardware on this trunk. A lot of it has embossed patterns to the metal. The front latches are original and they have a big number"3" at the top of them which we have highlighted in black paint. The metal parts making up this trunk are not brass, so we have hand painted the metal in black and gold leaf. The trunk maker also did a good job of running vertical and horizontal outer slat boards on this trunk, especially on the sides. It is not very often that you have two vertical slat boards and a horizontal slat board running on the sides of the trunk. Anyhow, it gives it a nice, unique appearance. The side handles have been replaced with sturdy Amish made black leather stitched straps.

Genuine Antique Flat Top Steamer / Travel Trunk 2 Trays Storage Chest
Free local pick-up only. From a local M id S outh E state. this Antique Flat Top Steamer/ Travel TRUNK made between 1880 and 1920. After 1920. As trunks became mass-produced they were labeled with the"makers mark" Measures 36" length x 24 1/2" height x 21" width. This is a solid piece; all metal strapping, corner bindings& hardware is intact. The wood parts of the trunks structure are time worn but intact as well. The YALE lock is intact but there is no key. The two leather side carry straps have long since torn away- easy to replace with an old leather belt. Seldom found are the 2 interior trays that appear to be original to this piece. The top tray(photos#8& 9) has finger-hole lifts at each end; measures 33 1/2 length x 18" width x 4" depth. The tray flap-over lid is secured via 3 hinges on one ... moreside. The other would have been secured via the leather snap straps but again the leather has deteriorated away. The 2nd tray(photo#10) has what appears to be some sort of textile handle-straps to lift it out with; measures 35" length x 13 3/4" width x 7 1/2" deep. The interior of the trunk measures 19 1/2" overall depth. Understand that this truck is close to 100 years old and therefore smells old as well. Both the interior and the exterior of this trunk are genuinely time worn. A beautiful old aged piece as is or restore and make it your own. Victorian Steamer Trunk 34 x 22.5 H x 19 This is a versatile and attractive true antique from the late 19th century. A medium-sized Victorian steamer trunk made of wood, trimmed with tin and steel hardware, and featuring a flat lid. It’s 34 inches wide and 22.5 inches tall– perfect for a coffee table, lamp table, or bedroom storage. The trunk is constructed of a pine box with hardwood slats across the top and around all four sides. The interior has been completely cleaned and refinished with a reproduction Victorian lithograph inside the lid. The hinges are tight and the lid fits securely when closed. Yet opens easily. The hasp on the right side does not lock, but does not compromise the closed lid. Although there is no key, the lock appears to be in good working condition and a local locksmith could provide a replacement key, if desired. ... moreThe restoration features new stitched leather handles(mounted with the original end caps) and matching leather belts with brass buckles to replicate the originals. A Ladycomet Refinished Flat Top Victorian Steamer Trunk Antique Chest w/Key&Tray
Nice Refinished Flat Top Steamer Trunk With Working Lock& Key and Original Multi Divided Tray Here is a great refinished flat top steamer trunk from the late 1800's to around 1900 or so. We are calling it a flat top although there is a very slight factory arch. These are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 30 1/2 inches. From floor to top is 22 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 18 1/2 inches. This beautiful trunk is made up of poplar base wood with oak or ash outer slat boards. We have finished the wood with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax to protect it and give it a nice appearance. The wood is in pretty good condition although there are some typicl distress marks or character marks. These include older nicks and dings in various places along with some stress cracks. Just about all of ... morethe trunks that we refinish have some of these older distress marks. This one comes with the original working lock. We did find a key that will activate the lock mechanism. The front latches are original and work ok since the springs are intact. The side handles have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps. They are sturdy. The metal parts on this trunk are not brass. If they were, we would have semi polished them. Very seldom do you come across an American made trunk that has all brass hardware. The metal parts on this trunk have been brush painted by hand in black and gold leaf. This lovely trunk would make a great gift for a loved one on any special occasion. The new owner could store their personal belongings and collectibles inside the trunk and later in life pass it down to the future generations. Going to the interior, we have removed the paper lining since it was worn out looking. We then have given the interior wood two coats of polyurethane. This trunk come with the original multi divided tray that rests at the top edge. Store items in this tray, then lift it up and put more items deep inside the trunk. Large Refinished Flat Top Steamer Trunk With Manufacturer's Tag. Straps& Buckles, and Original Interior Divided Tray Here we are offering a very large refinished flat top steamer trunk from around 1900 or so. This one is signed with the brass manufacturer's tag. It says. Overland Trunk" on the brass tag and we have shown a c lose up picture of this brass manufacturer's tag. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 41 inches. From floor to top is 26 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 22 1/2 inches. This is one of the largest trunks we have refinished this year, and it is a true flat top with no factory arch. This trunk is made up of the original brown laminate or composition exterior with the oak outer slat boards. The exterior has been given three coats of polyurethane by Minwax ... moreto preserve and protect the exterior. The metal parts on this trunk are not brass, except for the manufacturer's tag, and have been brush painted by hand in black and gold leaf. This trunk originally had a pair of leather straps which have eroded away, so we have run a nice pair of Amish made leather straps with roller buckles up the front and across the top in the very same location where the original ones once were. These straps are functional and when buckled, they help secure the trunk's top to it's base like the front latches do. The front latches are original and do work properly since the springs are intact. The edge banding and two bands running up the front and across the top are not metal. They are a pressed composition and we have left them in their brown color. This trunk comes with the original lock. It appears to be all intact. We were not able to match up a key. If you do match up a key, it does appear that this lock will work. The side handles were missing and have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps. Ladycomet Fancy Refinished Flat Top Steamer Trunk Antique Chest
Fancy Refinished Flat Top Trunk Here we are offering a refinished flat top steamer trunk from around 1900 or so. This one has the brown original laminate finish between the slat boards on all four sides. It was missing on the top. So we have created a resin and kind of made our own laminate for the top and gave it the same brown color. If you look at some of the pictures of the top, you will see that the areas that we redid do have some slight pits and waviness to those sections. It's not a big deal, we just thought we should mention it. The outer slat boards look like ash and the edge banding appears to be made up of some type of compressed composition which we have left in it's brown color. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 34 1/2 inches. From floor to top is 23 inches, and from front edge ... moreto back edge is 20 1/2 inches. There is a lot of fancy metal parts on this trunk. They are not brass, so we have painted them by hand in gold leaf. This one comes with the original lock, although we do not have a key to make it work. It appears to be all there and maybe you can hook up with your locksmith and obtain a key for this lock. The front latches are original and they do work well since the springs are in good shape. The side handles have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps. Going to the inside, we removed the interior lining and finished the wood with two coats of polyurethane. We did put a new board over the top on the underside of the lid to make it more sturdy. A nice trunk maker's style picture has been added to this new top. This trunk could hold quite a few blankets and clothing articles. It would look nice sitting at the foot of the bed. It could also be used as a coffee table or end table. Recently, we have sold a couple of trunks that have been given by the parents to their adult children as they are moving off to college. They can pack their belongings inside and when they reach their dorm or apartment, they can use the trunk as a

Antique victorian flat top 1880's steamer travel chest/trunk. It is all original. Inside and out. It has well defined clinched binding and oak slats. In between the oak slats it has the original brown canvas on wood. The original leather straps on each side are still present. The inside has the original lift out divided wood tray covered in paper. There is age wear to the paper. There are four wheels on the bottom edges. On the underside is stenciled lettering that says in part Manufactured expreslsy for R.H. Co. I had this truck restored and it looks so amazing, that I had a custom wood frame made for it. I had lighter Mission furniture at the time, so I had the carpenter just stain the wood frame. You can easily paint it a darker color to match the amazing hardware. It is the perfect size too! The trunk. Not including the frame measures 38 x 22 x 15" With the frame the table is 21" tall. I use it to store all our family games. But as you can see it is very roomy for just about anything.
