Old advertisements for this ... moretrunk can be found from the 1918s! This trunk is close to 100 years old! The hinges on the lid are still in good condition and workable. The flip-down locks on the front are stiff but open and close well. The center lock no longer works- looks like someone had to"break and enter" as it is slightly bent and the lock mechanism is missing. There are heavy leather handles on the side that are still in very good condition. Above these handles are eye hooks to attach and hold the trunk still. There are decorative rivets holding the steel in place on all the edges. It looks like a few of them have been replaced over the years. All the outside hardware has rust on it. The black outside material is canvas-leather like. Not sure what it is but there are some rips and showing underneath is wood.There are small holes on the sides and bottom. Maybe this was used for bootlegging at one time? It looks like the bottom could have been nailed down to something as there are small nails that stick up on the inside. Neat old black and white wallpaper type material on the inside of the lid and in the three cubby-holes on the right side. Very spacious measuring approx. 29" long x 15" high. The largest space on the inside measures 24" wide x 11" Each of the cubbyhole spaces measures approx. 4" x 3 1/4 to 3 3/4" with the center space being the smallest. The inside is lined in a canvas type material. I will say there is a very strong mildew smell on the inside. It is dirty inside too- this is definately in need of some TLC! It looks like someone added leather and snaps to the inside of the lid to hold things.the leather is light colored and newer looking. One of these straps is broken. The original leather strap that holds the lid open is scuffed and worn but still works for the purpose. Overall this is a nice vintage trunk with a condition commensurat

The craftsmanship that went into the construction and design of theses ole’ trunks are truly nothing short of spectacular. I recently discovered this wardrobe trunk buried in the rafters in the attic of a local farm house estate in a in nearby town. It stopped me dead in tracks and I had to literally pick my jaw up off the floor! There was no way I was leaving without this trunk. And lucky for me I had hubby to carry it out of the attic and down 3 flits of stairs! And now for the decription… This is a nice authentic period Wardrobe steamer trunk. It is signed on the exterior by the maker Oshkosh Trunk Company. I am unsure of the exact age. But it was clearly left where I had found it for a very very long time. If I had to guestimate I would say it is likely from the early 20 th century. It measures 40 x 22 x 20 inches and weighs 75 pounds respectfully. The exterior is covered with what appears to be a volcanized material with dozens of original brass. Nails, knobs Hinges, Lock and hardware. The lock comes with key and functions as designed. On the interior right side. The trunk has 5 wood drawers with original deco drawer pulls and covered in swanky antique fabric. Vintage Dome Top Trunk Chest ca.1900 NO SHIPPING FEES - LOCAL PICKUP ONLY
T his lovely dome-top trunk measures 34" wide. 19.5" deep and 22" high. Its beauty is the embossed tin ivy pattern and the oak straps and trim. We have used it for 30 years as a central decorative piece with the added advantage of storage space. Old trunks fit into every decor. Small casters are built into the base for rolling. Glides were added prior to our ownership. Most probably to protect the casters. These can be easily removed if desired. The leather straps rotted out years ago, a common occurrence for old trunks. And some of the interior paper is ripped. Other than that, it is in very good condition considering its apparent age of over 100 years. There is no key for the lockset. Two additional latches are situated on each side of the lockset. All hinges, corners, nails and metal clamps for the oak slats are tight with ... moreno missing pieces. A couple of the pictures make the trunk look like the sides are tapered. They are not. The bottom dimensions are the same as the top. Just the angle of the camera. We do not want to ship this item. Antique Dome Top Wooden Steamer Trunk- 1800s- Local Pick Up You are looking at a dome top wooden steamer trunk from the 1800s. This trunk has definitely been used. And it is in its original condition. It comes with 4 original(3 currently installed) casters on the bottom. I have included a pic of the bottom showing all 4 casters. As you can see by the pic, the top right caster is detached due to wood loss. The term"original condition" also includes the following: One of the side carrying straps is missing. The lower section of the left hinge for the lid has become detached(see pic) The wood slat second in from the right has suffered a split at the peak of the dome(see pic) There is no key. Antique Rounded Top Wooden Steamer Trunk- 1800s- Local Pick Up You are looking at a wooden steamer trunk from the 1800's. This trunk has definitely been used. And it is in partial refurbished condition. I have included 6 outside pictures and one of the inside. The term"refurbished" includes the following: Two new side carrying straps. The lower outside of the trunk has been repainted black. Added safety stabilizers to inside of lid. The wooden slats have been stained with mahogany. There is no key. the metal trim features have been painted with gold leaf. Nice condition with very nice wood finish. One handle missing and one end has a rope attached for moving or carrying. White painted for paper interior with some paper torn or missing. OK. So.this is an awesome, small size camelback trunk. It does look like a"Pirate's" chest to me. Major rust and wood issues.I began to"restore" this but it was beyond my tools and skill set. I did remove the flowered paper from the inside from a previous restoration. I have cleaned it. Taken some rust off with grinding wheels, etc. It is a project but a worthy one! Look up restored trunks and you will see a nice return for a good effort. This one is absolutely unique with many"bells" and whistles in ornamentation. Check out the pics.
