Antique Primitive Pine Lift Top Trunk Painted Green Tool Chest Country Folk
Antique green lift top chest. Classic primitive or country style. It looks like it was made from pine and has a basic six-panel construction. The top is made from three framed boards with a raised piece on top. Iron side handles and a molded base. Paint looks original or at least very old. Interior has sections for holding things in the front and stepped sides to hold boxes up. There are also strips of gathered leather attached to the top that may have been for tools and a cut-out"L" shape that may have held a carpenter's square. So it seems likely that this trunk was probably a tool chest at some point. Trunk probably dates from the late 19th or early 20th century. Overall. This piece is in good condition, however there is obvious wear as you can see from the pictures. There also appears to be some water damage to the finish ... moreand some water stains inside the trunk lid. The H hinges and side handles both show sign of rust, but are in solid condition and sturdy. The chest stands is 18" tall and measures 34.5" long and 22" wide. Old Iron Lock & Key for Antique Pine/Oak Blanket Box/Chest/Trunk/Coffer
Here for sale is an old iron lock with its original working key suitable to use on an old pine blanket box or trunk. It measures 3 1/2 inches wide. 2 1/2 inches high and 3/4 inch depth. The measurement from the top face to the centre of the key is 1 1/4 inch. The key measures 2 5/8 inches long. The main body of the lock housing the workings is 7/16 inch thick. The top face is 3/4 inch. Please note. The receiver isn't the original to the lock. It fits fine but when locked it doesn't lock tight. I have taked a picture of it upside down to show the small gap when locked.

Antique Primitive Pine Sugar Chest with Bracket Feet Lock Americana Trunk Brown
This lovely primitive sugar chest came out of an old house here in Savannah. Georgia. It was found lined with a layer of newspaper dating from 1839-1840, so we are guessing this piece dates to the early part of the 1800s. The actual chest appears to be made from pine, which as far as we can tell is a bit unusual for a sugar chest. The box sides/top are all made from one slab of wood, so it is made from old large timber. The chest has one large deep compartment and then a small drawer in the bottom, each with a lock. We do not have the keys to the locks. It has low, simple bracket feet. The hardware is old, but most likely not the original, as the chest came with one of the original knobs loose inside. The knobs that are on there now are similar to the original. It was also painted with a brown wash at some point. The edges are all dovetailed, ... moreand there are old square nails used in the construction. This is a beautiful piece of primitive americana that most likely originates from the southern region, somewhere between North Carolina and Georgia. Antique & Primitive Six Board Footed Painted Pine Blanket Chest, Box, Trunk 47"
I get most of my items at estate auctions and sell them in an"as found" condition. I do no repairs. Alterations and very little cleaning. This is done in the belief that most buyers prefer to receive them as original as possible. Because the items I sell can come from anywhere. I can't guarantee they all come from smoke free environments. DESCRIPTION: The existing color is mustard but there are several colors underneath. Including a coat of blue and another coat of salmon. One of those two is probably the original color of the chest. It is not a dove-tailed chest but it's tight and sound. It does have damage on one of the corners of the lid(see photos) and there is some evidence that some gouges on the lid were filled at one time, and not an expert job. The piece is old enough that the the hand plane marks can be felt on ... morethe interior. The piece probably is no more recent than the mid 1800's and could be older. It is about 47" in length, 16" in width and about 17 1/4" in height. It comes straight from a farm barn near Odessa, Missouri. The metal handles are original but the hinges are not and do not match. Please do not ask for this item to be shipped. It is for local pick up only. No exceptions. A handling charge of $1.50 is included in the domestic shipping costs. Could be restored or use as is. Very sturdy and very clean inside and out. Dovetailed corners. In very good antique condition. JK Decon is engraved in the top near the lock. No key. There are a few issues as follows(check out the pictures) Someone replaced the hinges with new ones. The bottom trim pieces are chipped at the corners. With something this old you'll have to read the pictures to gather your own information. It's structurally sound inside and out. No rotting! The paper and artwork inside are still fully intact. It has a few dings here and there but would be an absolute simple restoration. All parts are original. There is a barely visible engraving on some of the latches that read" PAT. DEC.23.7" The leather handle strap on the left side is missing and the main latch is bent a little bit. But other than that its fully useable. Here for auction is a beautiful pine trunk or fire trunk(so named because people stored their most valued possessions in a trunk so they could take it with them in case of fire) that came from the Bavarian region of Germany. The colors are very vibrant. There is a very large metal forged antique key and lock, and old forged hinges. The trunk is 47" long, 23" front to back, 24" tall, and the pine planks are 7/8 thick. When the lid is lifted, the additional storage drawer seen on the left side measures 4" wide, 3" deep and 20" long. UP for sale we offer a large Antique American Pine Trunk with dovetail construction. This trunk was owned by Tony Orlando(see below) This steamer shipping trunk has a hinged domed lid painted with"Bremen and New York" in black letters. The trunk opens to reveal a small raised compartment on the interior left side. There are some cedar shavings that are still present in the trunk. The large storage piece has its original wrought iron handles and having brass pull and escutcheon to front. The Trunk measures 31"H x 45.75"W x 23.5"D. We put the date to early 1820's to mid 19th century. The Trunk's condition has overall surface wear& scratches. We have not yet waxed this piece and offer it in it's"as found" condition. There is a small loss to edge of lid on right side, and having a seam separation ... moreto trunk lid which doesn't effect its function.We will be cleaning this trunk and giving it a polish before it leaves. Modern castors were added by the previous collector which can easily be replaced or removed. This trunk has a great history. It was owned by a local restoration artist Anthony"Tony" Orlando of Dearborn Michigan. He restored antique Carousel Horses and Americana. He was working for the second time on the Greenfield Village Carousel when he passed away. We have some pictures of his work we can provide. This trunk was from his collection. The box wood surfaces exterior also are Carved, the top of the cover has Initials of" H. L. B. in shallow relief carving with a fancy border around same. The front lower portion of this box has a fine floral design Carved into the surface in shallow carved scooped out or chip carved style. The other exterior surfaces are plain. Up for bid is a great little 19th century antique pine trunk. Originally manufactured in Baltimore. MD, by"Jas. H. Kiningham" at the"Trunk& Bag Manufactory" at 68 N. Gay. St. The trunk, probably originally having either paper or leather that covered the presently refinished pine exterior, is all but gone. Other than a slight bit of dust, this trunk is in fine condition and has all it's original paper liner inside, as well as a hidden compartment in the lid, along with a colorful picture on the door or flap. An original paper label still is intact at the bottom interior of the trunk. The trunk sits on four iron wheels and rolls easily. The shape resembles that of a loaf of bread, so given the name of a"Breadloaf" truck. There is a hasp-like clasp on the front, but no key. Country Pine Folk Painted 1840's Antique Immigrant Trunk or Chest. Hand crafted in northern Europe in the 1840's. This picturesque immigrant trunk or chest is wormy pine with hand painted floral motifs resembling traditional Scandinavian rosemaling. Hand planed with hand cut corner dovetails. This furniture has a beautiful old finish. Waxed and buffed, only an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth is needed to maintain its warm patina. The interior is very clean. There is a compartment with a lift lid for valuables. Hand wrought iron mounts and handles are original, there are losses to the banding as shown. An 1800s elm blanket box/ chest. Wonderfull colour/ patina and elm grain detail. Hand forged iron lid hinges. Recently wax polished so all ready for the home. Fully treated throughout and guaranteed for woodworm as the chest had suffered in the past as seen in the pictures, some areas around the top edges to the interior are filled, its very common for elm to be attacked by worm. We are selling an antique pine trunk/ chest in its original condition.This trunk dates to about 1870s and still in good condition.There are five large dovetail joints on all corners. The cast iron handles are in very good condition. The end board on one side is a solid 13" wide plank. The pine boards are all old growth wood. The bottom planks have a few cracks in them as the pictures show. There are normal age wear nicks and bumps and dings. The size is 34" long. 16 1/2" wide and 19 1/2" tall. The lock is gone. Revolutionary War Era Pine Trunk Travel Chest Military Campaign Iron Hardware. We are selling a very old named military campaign chest from the revolutionary war era. This just is constructed with most unusual cuts of wood. The top. Sides and bottom all have one piece planks for construction. I believe this chest was all painted in a hand grain when it was made originally. The inside of the lid has most of the original hand grain still on it. There are a few small spots we can still see the original grain but 98% of it is gone. Chest was also repainted in a grayish color at one time, but most of that gray color is also gone. The iron hardware is all hand forged and mostly still there. The strap hinges were moved at one time is the pictures show. The lock is all may have iron,and in the locked position, with no key. There are remnants of leather ... morehandles on both sides of the chest. The chest has been Nailed and re-screwed and resecured many, many times. The newest nails in the chest look to be close to 100 years old. There are screws, original hand cut nails in the rectangular shape, and the very old, square handcut nails. The owners name was Capt. E. B. Jones. His name is on the front of the chest, the side of the chest, and looks like some other writing on the bottom of the chest which we can't make out. There is also a very small partial shipping label on the front in white paper that reads Cunard lines, NO. 7. The size of the chest is 28 1/4 x 17 x 16" This wonderful little wartime souvenir has all the properties of be in from the Civil War era.
